Baller JTW Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 I have learned some of the basics and need to know what to learn next. My current run is: SS,R,B,F,R,R,O,R,WB,WF,R,R,TB,TF. Should I learn LB,LF,WO,WBB,TSS,TWB,TWF next? What order is best?
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 Any of those tricks can be inserted into your run. I would start with the WBB and RWBB for the Hand pass and the TWB TWF for the toe pass. Have fun!
Baller rodltg2 Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 Well I'm a bigger newbie ! Don't even know what those abbreviations mean !
cwillygood
go right for the flips!!!! haha, nah but soon ;), any of those, i would work on WO and WBB then TWB TWF and TSS will all come quickly then LB LF! good luck!
Baller A_B Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 Unless you are thowing big spray and running a course, I am surprised Horton hasn't shut this thread down....
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted September 5, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted September 5, 2012 All of the above. Since it takes a lot of time to put on or take off the toe harness, you want to work toward a full toe pass. A good starter is TB TF TS RTS TWB TWF LB LF WLB WLF For handles, you need to learn the reverse back wrap. This trick can be difficult if you don't have good flexibility and balance, but it makes WBBs really fast and you can replace your surface Os with OBs (same points, but much faster). Next is WO and W5F. Don't forget to spend some time just riding your ski, jumping wakes, and running the slalom course on the trick ski. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller klindy Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 The WBB, LB/LF and WLB/WLF are good choices. I'd also recommend BB, R since they are significantly faster than O, R. Since they are listed in under the same trick number you can do either O/R or BB/R but not both. Also start working on WO, R and reverse TB/TF. All there are good foundation tricks that you can build from. Great progress! Keep it up!!!
Baller elr Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 Think I'd work on the hand tricks that do not require a handle pass - BB R (faster then O R) WBB R LB LF WLF WLB wrapped WO R probably in that order. Toes I'd work on TWB TWF TO TSS R probably in that order -- long term the foundational trick is RTB.
bigtallweed
Is there any good instructional video for trick. West coast slalom is excellent for chasing balls.I am looking for a trick dvd to get a good foundation.
Baller eleeski Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 So cool! Not only do we have an interested tricker but we have a board full of excellent advice! If you can find the old Cory Pickos videos, the fundamentals haven't changed. Have fun playing on the tricks, Eric
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted September 5, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted September 5, 2012 I knew it was only a matter of time before Eric chimed in, because tricks are for kids !!!!!
bigtallweed
Found a Joel Wing instructional video @ Barts. Any good?
Baller jhughes Posted September 5, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2012 I personally didn't find Joel's video terribly helpful. The quantity of tricks that they go over is impressive but I just wasn't able to translate any of it into better trick skiing. Could just be me, as always. Gold Member wski1831 Posted September 7, 2012 Gold Member Share Posted September 7, 2012 I have found some trick coaching on you tube. I would try all the tricks mentioned and the ones you like work on the most. As for the flip, it's a good way to end a run, after all you were going to fall anyway,
Baller GAJ0004 Posted September 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 12, 2012 Joel McClintock wrote a book called The Complete Instructional book of Water Skiing. It teaches slalom, tricks and jumping. It is out of print. It is a great book if you can find it. Ben Favret also wrote a book, but not sure if it has tricks in it. Baller BraceMaker Posted February 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 26, 2013 Not to resurrect an old thread: But has anyone ever done a good comprehensive beginner single trick learning instructional?
Baller GAJ0004 Posted February 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 26, 2013 Joel McClintock and Tony Krupa have written two good books. Tony Krupa's book is called Ski Tips, and Joel McClintock's book is called The Complete Instructional Book of Water Skiing.

Baller BraceMaker Posted February 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 26, 2013 I think I'm saying more like: "assembling your first run" For those folks like me who don't ski with people who trick ski, and want to learn. A video of @JTW's run, with commentary, or breakdown on how to put it together. Maybe more of a trick caller's perspective on a run, than a trick skiers perspective? simon65
I want to purchase a surf board but I don't understand which is best. I'm new in this sports. My friend told me about fiber glass so what difference between 6'4' and 6'9'? Any suggestion would be appreciated and thanks in advance. Baller Chef23 Posted March 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 14, 2013 @simon65 you likely won't find surf board advice here this is a water skiing board. There are wake surfing boards out there.
Members texas_slalom_trick
Wo definitely. Do a couple of those as in the two outside the wake, and Mabry try one inside. Then I'd go with the wbb. Once you master the first wbb, got to some more difficult ones, like inside out.
