bogboy
Anybody like to ski in the rain? A ski buddy came over today when the conditions looked good. We started to suit up with dry suits, and it started to rain pretty hard, but the lake was calm, so we went skiing anyway. I used raquet ball glasses to protect my eyes, and we had a great, fun free ski. He skis at 36, & I free ski at 34, but it seemed so fast that I thought he left the p.p. at 36 for me, but it was really at 34. Must be the rain in your face that makes it seem fast. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted February 28, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 28, 2013 back when we had a Tuesday time slot at the SkiPark, we were limited to 2-5pm, so we'd ski in whatever the weather, used to get stuck with rain sometimes, but still had a good time, +1 on the eye protection - it made skiing possible, but you had to really concentrate on keeping your vision up

Baller ScaredOfCorbets Posted February 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 28, 2013 Skiing in the heavy rain hurts to me. Yes, it's magic right after the rain passes.
Nick Sullivan
I'd rather ski in the wind then in the rain. At 36 I can't see squat.
Baller scuppers Posted February 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 28, 2013 That's funny - I thought It was only me that noticed that special something right after a rain.
jrs
The texture on the water is awesome in the rain. It's like the dimples on a golf ball. I use safety glass for the skier and driver.
Baller ral Posted February 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 28, 2013 It is very difficult to have our driver in the boat when it rains. Anyways, it does not rain a lot here...
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted February 28, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 28, 2013 in the Pacific NW, it's all about having the right equipment, hence the "rain top" for my MC

Baller RazorRoss3 Posted February 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 28, 2013 I've skied in the rain at 34 and 36 and I can say that it really hurts. It makes it harder to focus but if you can focus then you can still ski well, it just feels like you're running at an army of paintballers. Baller BraceMaker Posted March 1, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2013 There is usually a single day of the summer, where the temps will hover around 76, the sun stay hidden. The lake will stay perfectly glass all morning, and it will drizzle steadily. You will start out covered up, but ultimately you just leave your wet gear on for ease. Some of my best ski "days" in terms of overall mood and enjoyment have been those days.
LeSkiAvantTout
Good job none of you lads live in Northern Ireland or you'd still be practising your deep water starts if you refused to ski in the rain LOL!

Baller jipster43 Posted March 1, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2013 I love skiing in the rain... as long as my driver is in to it too!
Baller Klundell Posted March 1, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2013 I think driving in the rain is harder then skiing in it.
Baller WBLskier Posted March 1, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2013 I keep two pairs if ski goggles in the boat. One for driver and one for skier. With the Bimini up I love it. No one else to contend with on the lake.
Baller_ lpskier Posted March 1, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted March 1, 2013 If you don't like skiing in the rain, you'll hate skiing in the snow. If you haven't tried it, trust me. Lpskier
Baller A_B Posted March 1, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2013 Most tournaments ski unless there is lightening, so might as well ski it in practice. It would not be a good idea to run your first passes in the rain at the Regionals or Nationals..
