Boat Weight

Looking for best boat weight and easiest to balance 2012 Malibu txi. We used to have a 45# rubber boat weight for the sn200 we used but it stayed with the boat. I was think of concrete in a plastic tool box, but I'm sure there is a better way.

We use weightlifting plates.

yes, we had a rubber 45# plate, but it went with the old boat. I don't want to use a metal plate because it's too tough on the carpet.

Stop by an elevator company and see if they'll let you buy elevator test weights. We've got a 6x6x6 square one and a 6" cylindrical one. Both have handles built in. We glued carpeting on and they are perfect. The square one is 50lbs and the round one is 30 lbs.

Check Overtons for the Straight Line Sumo Sac Ballast Bag, 25"L x 16"W x 8"H, 125 lbs. Then only fill to what you need no carpet damage

In my 2007 Malibu LXi we use four 35 pound weight lifting plates, rubber coated. One of them stays in the walk thru open bow which dialed in the tracking The other three fit cleanly stacked under the observer seat to simulate an observer. Tie a loop of nylon webbing thru each plate so you can pick up easy. We remove the 3 plates under the seat when we have an observer. Or leave them in to simulate the feel of a tournament ride when there are judge, rope handler and driver in the boat

coated kettle bell is way better than a weight plate...it's got a handle.

Play it Again Sports usually have a good selection of weights. You might also find one of your old favorite skis.
