kfennell
OK, so it is SERIOUSLY hot here, heat index approaching 110 every day and no sign of stopping. Please remember this when you are packing, hats, glasses, sunscreen, light clothes, lots of changes of clothes, glove liners (super important to me), shade?. DRINK A TON OF WATER, TWICE WHAT YOU EXPECT. We were discussing this the other day in the boat and I don't know how I would have done if I had have travelled to this tournament back when I lived up north, but I am sure being prepared will help. Baller sunperch Posted August 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2014 Is there a place to swim? That is the best way to beat the heat and entertain the kids.
Baller skier2788 Posted August 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2014 @ski6jones @sunperch last I talked to @kfennell water was around 90. Probly has gone up in the last week. In those Temps even swimming doesn't cool you off.
kfennell
@skier2788 You forget about the river!!! 5 minute walk from the main area there is a ~75 degree river you can swim in. 10 minute walk to where the river rope swing is! Water temp is in the low-mid 90s. Pretty hot and probably getting hotter.

Baller Moskier3ev Posted August 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2014 Wear shoes to the tournament. We have sand burs. Flip Flops and Sandals are fine after you ski but shoes keep the burs off your tender tootsies when at the site. Sunperch: tubes and adult beverages...in the river.... NO GLASS in the river its a $250 fine. We are all looking forward to having ya'll. The site is coming together tents going up, venders started getting here today. Baller BlueSki Posted August 11, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2014 My kids have named the sand burrs, the devil's boogers.
Baller unksskis Posted August 19, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 19, 2014 I did not find the sand burrs to be as bad as described, they were so dry they didn't really stick into much other than the folding chair bags. Had a wonderful time, and in the mornings the temps were actually very pleasant!
