Baller Rivvy Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 I'm going to be in Scottsdale 2/15 - 2/20 for work. Does anyone know of a ski site and if it's too cold? I'd love to get a few sets in and am good for gas money+?
Baller DmaxJC_ski Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 Pretty much the only pay as you go is wildhorse pass, probably an hour and a bit from Scottsdale. Ed fisher is who you would talk to. He is 80years young and can get through 28 @30 mph. This has been quite the can of worms topic in the past....
Baller 6balls Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 Too cold? If the water is in liquid form it's not too cold. Question is are you able to find s'one to give you a pull.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 Really baffled, I have read various threads about AZ and always thought it would be a good destination to get some skiing in, but it seems some what of a challenge, not even one water ski school, where you could turn up and get a set, strange !
Baller_ MISkier Posted January 26, 2015 Baller_ Posted January 26, 2015 I had thought about moving to Phoenix, as my daughter just moved to Flagstaff. But, the availability of private club water (and water in general) seemed to be a challenge. I saw the other thread as well and it just seemed like I would prefer Florida. I'm probably a couple years away from a move, but doing the research now. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 @scotchipman sweet, Great Info, already added to my favorites
Baller ntx Posted January 26, 2015 Baller Posted January 26, 2015 I wonder if @rivvy will take advantage of the 50.00 set option? How bad do you REALLY want to ski?
Baller_ MISkier Posted January 26, 2015 Baller_ Posted January 26, 2015 I would have no problem paying the $50 per set, especially during the winter. In fact, I've paid exactly that during spring break in Florida. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Rivvy Posted January 26, 2015 Author Baller Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks!! $50 doesn't sound so bad. I left him a message. It sounds like it will be pretty cold.
Baller skiermanbrad Posted January 27, 2015 Baller Posted January 27, 2015 What?!? There aren't very many places to waterski in the desert? That can't be so.
Baller DmaxJC_ski Posted January 28, 2015 Baller Posted January 28, 2015 At wildhorse pass last April it was 88 ish air temp, 74 water and there was a couple wearing wetsuits, and Ed the driver says he won't ski with air under 90... I'm sure everyone has skied cold water but up north here if you wait for warm water you would never ski
Baller Rivvy Posted January 29, 2015 Author Baller Posted January 29, 2015 Dave seems like a great guy. I'm going to try to make it work. $50 a set. It is about an hour from Scottsdale unfortunately. Water temps in the high 50's. That pretty chilly without hauling a wetsuit down. Doable though. Much warmer than mn!!
Baller 6balls Posted January 29, 2015 Baller Posted January 29, 2015 @Rivvy if using a sport-tube for your ski plenty of space to put a wetsuit, vest, handle, some towels in there as well.
