Baller MrJones Posted May 29, 2016 Baller Posted May 29, 2016 For you guys out West. We are wanting to work some rafting in around our Nationals trip. Looking for advice from any of you locals about one river vs. the other. Obviously the Salmon is famous, but the Payette may fit our schedule better. Any feedback is appreciated...
Baller Texas6 Posted May 29, 2016 Baller Posted May 29, 2016 Salmon river is absolutely amazing - we were thinking the same thing
Baller skinut Posted May 30, 2016 Baller Posted May 30, 2016 Payette will be be closer but Salmon is much more remote and challenging whitewater.
Baller MrJones Posted May 31, 2016 Author Baller Posted May 31, 2016 Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure the Salmon is awesome. As far as challenging, the water in Louisiana flows slowly and we will have a 10,12, and 14 year old along. They'll be up for some exciting water, but we are newbs and will have fun in anything. The Payette fits our schedule better, but if it's enough of a difference as far as scenery and experience we will try to make the Salmon work. By the way, the goal is a 2 day float with an overnight camp on the river. Any further feedback is appreciated....
skicoug Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 My family did a week on the main Salomon, kids 12 and 13 years old. It is no problem with a good guide company. The later in the summer you go the lower the flow. Go through the wilderness on the Salmon is an awesome lifetime adventure.
