Baller UWSkier Posted March 3, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2017 The Dangerous Drysuit thread got me thinking... What's your favorite Air/Water temp range and why? For me it's got to be: 75-85A/65-75W Those air temps are comfortable to be in all day without necessarily needing a bimini, and you don't sit in the boat and sweat after you get out. Those water temps, I just like how my ski feels, and my hands hold up much better. That and it's actually refreshing dropping in on a hot day. Baller_ MISkier Posted March 3, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted March 3, 2017 I'd like the air in the low 90s and water about 85-88. We rarely get that here. We had it for our State Championship last year and it went well for me. In 2012, we had a heat wave that got the water to 97-100 at one site. That was a bit high for water. Didn't like that. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.

Baller Sethro Posted March 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 5, 2017 @UWSkier, I'm with you on the cooler water. I would say low 70's would be ideal for me. It seems over the years my hands hold up very well until the water reaches about 80 degrees. Then they begin to fall apart. There must be a science behind it? I like the air to be about 75-80 if I get to choose.

Baller bigskieridaho Posted March 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 5, 2017 I like the 80's and 80's water also. As long as I am not freezing it's all good. Growing up skiing in Jackson Lake got tired of cold water....

sixball
So the best skiing is early spring and late fall and with that I will go with Air- 55/65 water 60,s . Still easy to deal with but keep the lice off the lake for the most part. Ya its a bitch being on an all sports lake.

Baller eleeski Posted March 12, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 12, 2017 @Horton gave me a triple panda the last time I gave an opinion about water temperature. But that won't stop me from liking hot water and warm air. Hot tubs rock. None of you guys are close! Eric

Baller UWSkier Posted March 12, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted March 12, 2017 Today marks the one year anniversary of my earliest ever set in Wisconsin. Sadly, today was not a repeat. Law of averages catching up. :(
Baller jjackkrash Posted March 12, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 12, 2017 I feel like I'm skiing in muddy sweat when the water is over 80. My favorite temp combo has to be river skiing when its hot, like 100 air/55-60 water.

Baller Fast351 Posted March 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 13, 2017 Temp: mid 80s, no wind, and sunny. Water: eh, don't care much, you're only in it 30 seconds. Over 65 is nice, no wetsuit required.
Baller skihacker Posted March 13, 2017 Baller Share Posted March 13, 2017 How about not frozen solid? Or not 80 mph winds and no power for a week (just last weeks storm) Or not winter storm warning for the next 2 days from the noreaster at our door? Sorry I might be getting a teensy bit grumpy.
