I thought this was going to be another one of those end of season "I snow ski in the winter" threads.

Cool, but not sure why they feel it's necessary to hold onto their poles and the handle...

@scotchipman I thought I saw a winch in a couple of the frames.

 

@jayski I find poles help for some tricks. And they do drop the rope and ski while gliding. I also saw a couple shots without the poles.

They are using a winch setup

Almost looks like they are pulling him w a helicopter except the angle of the rope is too low for that. Whatever it is, it's got a lot of power to pull him at those speeds.

Smart to use a winch. We used to use snowmobiles all the time to tow into a gap jump on the prairies in the winter.

I thought that was actually pretty cool. Think they would've been better off on a pair of jumpers except for just a couple of small snow bank hits.

 

@eleeski - what are these so-called "tricks" that you do on snow skis? I fully expect to see them this winter. Hey, let's set up a winch on Squaw Creek this coming spring.

I think I would have insisted on wearing a full helmet. Some of that water was quite shallow. Worse the @scotchipman 's old place.
