Baller Brewski Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Which handle do you use 12" or 13"? What do you feel are the benefits?
Baller ski6jones Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Went to 12 after arm thru handle injury. Figured slightly smaller opening wouldn't hurt.
Baller thager Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Same as @ski6jones, Also 12 inch seems to pivot less around the triangle point which I like. I am making my own handles now and next one will be an 11 inch.
Baller_ MISkier Posted August 16, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 16, 2019 I like the 13 to give me more clearance to pin my elbows to the sides of my vest, get the handle low, and get my chest up/shoulders back. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Agree with exactly what @MISkier stated. The only thing I could add is I have LESS handle misses in the course, much easier to grab, especially if your a Big Guy !!!
Baller Brewski Posted August 16, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 @thager I love my US Gear handle. #1 IT FLOATS, #2 CURVED ENDS #3 ELLIPTICAL, #4 SPECTRA LINE #5 BEND IN MIDDLE (whatever you call that) just wish I had a 13" to try. I used Masterline 12" and 13" for years. Always preferred their 12" . The US gear 12 seams a little small because the bends go into the 12" taking it to like 10-10.5" before the bends start. OH AND CHECK OUT THAT COOL "NO NOOSE" HoOT~!
Baller BlueSki Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 I reduced the frequency of missing the handle when I went to a 13”.
Baller John Brooks Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 I believe the narrower handle keeps elbows tighter to vest.
Baller thager Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 @Brewski I like the USGear handle also, but so hard to get! Presently attempting to reverse engineer one for my personal use only. Am very close.
Baller KRoundy Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Fewer missed grabs with the bigger handle, and it is just flat more comfortable for me.
Baller bigskieridaho Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 Keeps elbows in and makes me get the proper form thru the wake.
Baller_ The_MS Posted August 16, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 16, 2019 12 US Gear is small enough so my head won’t fit. Less bulk on the 12 make it easier grab. To much handle and it gets caught in shorts and other places
Baller jayski Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 13" 1.182" go big or go home...we don't use 12" girly handles in Louisiana
Baller Nando Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 I agree with @thager that the 13" seems to pivot around the triangle less- never thought of it that way, but that's the feeling. Tried one the other day and went back to my smaller one after the first set. Maybe if I had better handle control...

Baller Chef23 Posted August 16, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 16, 2019 For me it is just comfort. I can ski a 12 but prefer a 13. I think part or it can depend on how broad your shoulders are.
Baller gregy Posted August 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2019 Larger and is more comfortable for me and less missed handles.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted August 17, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 17, 2019 +1 to @John Brooks 11” In tow handle that put a custom bend into.
Baller skibug Posted August 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2019 The poll should have another option because I use both 12" and 13" US Gear handles. I alternate every couple weeks.
Baller Brewski Posted August 17, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted August 17, 2019 @skibug Why switch?
Baller skibug Posted August 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted August 17, 2019 @Brewski couple of reasons. 1. Vary grip position a little bit to avoid any elbow issues 2. 1" doesn't sound like a lot; but, it makes a difference how I come back on the handle. 3. I start with straight handles and after about 30 - 40 sets they wind up naturally bending into a curved handle (this happens with US Gear or Masterline handles). This is more prevalent in the 13" handles for obvious reasons 4. Handle wear spread out across two handles

Baller_ RichardDoane Posted August 18, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted August 18, 2019 11” keeps your arms in to vest. Tried 10” but missed grabbed sometimes @Brewski
