best way to attach green balls

For those of us that have to deploy/retrieve course every time, what would be the best/easiest/fastest way to attach mini course (green) balls to the arms and keep deployment time to the absolute minimum. (EZ slalom)

Maybe Drill hole in the pipe and use locking pin clips that will pass thru that hole.

The pin clips could work.

 

Because these don't have the precision requirements you could just use something like velcro cinch straps to secure them as you deploy the arm to mount them via an elastic cord.

Drill hole at desired location and use 1/4 in. round pto hitch pin to fasten ball.

My old portable from Ed had holes pre-drilled for the mini-course. Two holes in the PVC that you'd thread the clip through. Easy peasy.

Drill a hole in the PVC and install an eye bolt. Then just clip the buoy to the eye bolt.

@klindy on my EZ-Slalom, if you did that, the poles wouldn't collapse all the way when storing.

I had the compact ez slalom w/ novice buoys.

 

As I recall I used 2 zipties to those pre-drilled holes. Ziptie Connection piece was turned inside the pipe so the arms would still telescope. Clip buoy line onto the ziptie. Boom

Might just wanna tie some surgical tubing around the arm where you want them. The great thing about the novice balls is that you can move them as needed, depending on the target audience.

Mine doesn't have arms for green. Had two small anchors with rope and green buoys. We used a GPS to get them close. Only one on each end. It's not great but better than nothing.

We only sink our course for winter.

The mini course buoys are left on. They don’t support the weight of the course. We use the soft foam cylinders. I wouldn’t sink round buoys for winter like that but I assume weekly retrieval would be faster if some buoys are already on.

The best course and quickest retrieval is to spend the money on a Suyderhound Accufloat course. Once it’s installed all you need to do is pull the buoys off and let it sink. I put a long rope and antifreeze jug marking every gate section (8). You can float the course is less then 15 minutes with 1 boat. You can leave the inside boat gate and the sub buoy on the pipe. If you have a sand bottom you can use screw anchors to keep the course in place. The key is the anchor line length. I’m in 18’of water and my anchor line (cable ) is 200’ long. I use a winch to tighten the course. You can barely pick up the cable to the surface at mid course.

We used hose clamps with a small piece of chain. Worked great and they have been in for almost 10 years. No drilling and we didn’t have to pull the course to do it.
