Baller Dylan_wick Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 It has come to the time in the year where our collegiate team needs to make a new purchase on a ski boat. We currently have a 2019 Nautique 200, and have had a 2018 Pro Star before that. Each year we put around 500 hours on the boat. Does anyone have some insight on the new models and which would one would be better (yes I know this will be opinion based). I currently enjoy the user interface and hydrogate that Nautique offers, but some problems have arose in our current boat, even with it being so new, that I would not like to have again. Any and all insight/suggestions is much appreciated.
Baller rockdog Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 Problems will arise from any boat/manufacturer, luck of the draw sometimes even when well maintained. I'd stick with a 200 if you otherwise like it.
Baller Orlando76 Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 Sure seems like one manufacturer does way more to promote the sport than the other. That alone would persuade me.
Baller ScottScott Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 Agree with @rockdog, despite being a loyal MC owner I would say with issues in mind your best bet may be to consider the dealers for each manufacturer you have close by, and what kind of support you expect to get from them. Having had both, your own experience there is the best testament. I'm not sure I see a big difference in how much each promote the sport. I see a lot from both. Baller MuskokaKy Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 5 years ago i would have said; Slalom - Nautique Jump - MC Trick - Malibu Overall i go MC which in part has to do with dealer / manufacture support as per @ScottScott point above. Baller jcamp Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 Go with the best deal you can get then use the savings to buy gas (or beer).

Baller swc5150 Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 I'd go with whichever you can get the best deal on. Splitting hairs on the performance aspects of each.
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 I would look at all the costs and compare. Initial cost, plus operating cost, less resale. You have to look at actual cost per year. As said above, dealer support is definitely worth some points to a particular manufacture.
Baller BraceMaker Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 @Orlando76 which?
Baller Dylan_wick Posted December 13, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 @ScottScott We go through Dockside marine in Conroe and they have taken care of us big time regardless of what boat we get. Maintenance and getting it in will not be an issue but our team doesn’t like to lose many skiing days
Baller UWSkier Posted December 13, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 Man, you guys are lucky to have that sort of budget! My Alma Mater is using a late model 196 with ZO as the team boat. Are you guys responsible for reselling your boat at the end of the year or does it go back to the dealer? If resale is a consideration, ProStar is a better option. It's a more versatile boat than the new Ski Nautique. Plus it looks way better. If you aren't talking about the new Ski Nautique and are referring to the "old 200" then it's a toss up IMO. Baller Dylan_wick Posted December 13, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted December 13, 2019 @UWSkier we resell the boat to a private dealer after each year. So far we haven’t had many issues trying to find a buyer and fingers crossed for this year. The sad thing is, is I do not think a ski Nautique would fit in our boat house so it’s either a 200 or a Prostar until we get a new boat house. Baller Not_The_Pug Posted December 14, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 14, 2019 @Dylan_wick The Ski Nautique is the same width at the MC, so that shouldn't be an issue
Baller Jordan Posted December 14, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 14, 2019 Ski Nautique beam = 98 inches Prostar beam= 96 inches Correct Craft 200 beam = 95 inches https://www.nautique.com/models/ski-nautique/specs https://www.mastercraft.com/boat/detail/prostar https://www.nautique.com/models/nautique-200/specs
Administrators Horton Posted December 14, 2019 Administrators Share Posted December 14, 2019 Oddly enough - I think the ProStar is the widest at the waterline. The new SN is just wider at the top of the gunnel.
