Baller Jetsetr Posted June 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2020 Looking for info on the average height for Bimini tops. Would like to get one for the Malibu. Had one on the SB but thought it was a bit too high. What’s the height (appx) of your Bimini from the top of the gunnel or windshield to the bottom of the Bimini? Please specify if it’s windshield or gunnel. Thanks in advance!
Baller braindamage Posted June 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2020 I need a Bimini for my TXi so will be following this thread.
Baller Timr71 Posted June 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2020 I worked with Danny at Tower Biminis on my deck mounted bimini. I didn't want mine to be too high. Danny's measurements and estimates were great. My bimini is the perfect height to allow my walk through windshield segment to open and close and yet it's still low and has that factory look. Check out the deck mounted options here: https://towerbiminis.com/gallery/deck-mounted/
Baller Jetsetr Posted June 21, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted June 21, 2020 @Timr like that look...what is the height?
jordanh
Sorry I don't have the measurements you want. I do however know my Bimini is 5'8" from the floor.
Baller Timr71 Posted June 22, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2020 I don't have the boat here. I could measure the distance of the legs on the bimini top for you, as it's in my garage right now.
Baller_ The_MS Posted June 22, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted June 22, 2020 Here’s what I know about Bimini height. They are not short enough when I’m sitting in the boat and not nearly tall enough when I stand up and bump my head every time.
Baller thager Posted June 22, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2020 Might have bumped the ole noggin a few too many times me thinks!!
Baller lakeaustinskier Posted June 22, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2020 Sun protection is very important to me therefore I prefer a lower top. It comes down to whether you care that you can open or close the windshield without taking off the front supports. My bimini fits close to the floor and it takes 5 minutes to Tower Biminis is a great source - get the stainless steel supports. IMO straps look bad and whistle too much. Baller braindamage Posted June 23, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 @lakeaustinskier where does that stow? Do you have pics of it stowed?
Baller braindamage Posted June 23, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 The carver Bimini for my TXi comes in either a 35” or 30”. The one “styled to fit” is the 30”. https://www.boatcoversdirect.com/products/boat_covers/MALIBU_264/RESPONSE_TXI_W-O_TOWER_26273/3/
Baller lakeaustinskier Posted June 23, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 The stainless steel supports are fantastic if you keep the boat on a lift and don't plan to lower the top very often. Our marina is very protected so we don't often cover the boat - but if I want to cover the boat I can 1/2 ass cover the boat with the top up - it works good enough. If you need to lower the top on a regular basis to trailer the boat then buy a normal top.
Baller Cent Posted June 23, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 Mine is about 55 from the floor.
Baller thager Posted June 23, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 It's not that hard to lower a bimini if you feel its too tall. Shorten the main tubes equally with a tube cutter and reinsert into the hardware.
Baller Jetsetr Posted June 23, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted June 23, 2020 @thager that’s what I was going to do with the Brendella, make some sleeves and rivet everything in place. With the Malibu want to get it right the first time! But, it’s easy enough to modify if need be. Thanks for the input everyone!!
Baller Dano Posted June 24, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 24, 2020 This one is 36" high.
