Baller Cooper_Trelawney Posted October 26, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 26, 2021 Maybe I'm nitpicking but the first paragraph in the press release in the OP says "....professional water skiers and professional jumpers." Idk, I would have said "professional water skiers competing in slalom and jumping"; or something to that effect. It was odd phrasing to me. It just seems like the writer equated slalom with water skiing and jumping is something else. Ok, I will move on to more important things now. Have a great BOS day! Baller Cnewbert Posted October 27, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 27, 2021 Such a bummer because we have had consistently superb weather and ski conditions in Central Florida through spring, summer and so far in October.
Baller ScottScott Posted October 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 28, 2021 Yeah, west wind especially not good. States a year or 2 ago had a stiff west wind. Comes across that little lake on the west side. We had white caps at the gates and 1 ball coming from the west end.

Baller RazorRoss3 Posted October 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 28, 2021 Collegiate skiing, where your grades bottom out the first half of the semester and then you desperately try to save the in the second half for the fall. Baller jhughes Posted October 29, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 29, 2021 Funny. I was sitting here watching the webcast, then got distracted for a while. Meanwhile the webcast ended due to high winds, and auto-played the 2020 version of this tournament. I'm watching it thinking "man did those winds calm down! Wow 3 way run off between Freddie/Nate/T-Gas! Wow Fred is on a red Ion now!" etc. I was watching this for like a half hour before I realized it was last year's broadcast just auto-playing. Baller ScottScott Posted October 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2021 Good conditions to start the day. Winds a little more NW than the W of yesterday which is better, but could still have a little more chop for the gates and 1 ball from the West end. Looks like winds forecasted to be back to the West and up to 11-13mph in the middle of the day. Could be pretty ugly again for the finals.

Baller Jordan Posted October 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2021 Question for those watching: They have shown numerous skiers wade into the lake and wash their hands prior to skiing. Anyone know why?
Baller DavidN Posted October 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2021 It’s COVID safety protocol - wash your hands often. ? Joking aside - Rob who skis a lot on our lake does that every time. I think it enhances grip. Some skiers even wash their handle prior to skiing. On another note - waited for the 1st round to be over to submit my audience price entry, was already closed. Bummer @TonyLightfoot

Baller BS74 Posted October 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2021 Wonder if water temp has affected scores. Water temp has dropped 8degress in last couple weeks, maybe affects zero off settings? Water looks a little bouncy.

Baller_ DW Posted October 30, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted October 30, 2021 Freddie’s booth commentary is second to none, great insight from his perspective and so informative. Great job. In addition to ZO setting, ski / binding info would be nice particularly since many of the skiers are sponsored and promotion would only please the mfg’s. Baller Cnewbert Posted October 30, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2021 I missed something: how was the men’s slalom 2nd place tie resolved? Last thing I remember was the discussion between Tony, Aaron and Rob on what would happen if Nate won, with Tgas and Asher tied in the final with 1 @ -41 and identical back up scores of 2 @ -41 in the prelim. I think it was Aaron who joked they’d flip a coin. Next thing I knew Nate won, Tgas was awarded 2nd and Asher 3rd, but no further explanation from the booth. What did I miss? Baller vtmecheng Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 This tournament solidified my belief that there should be specified maximum line lengths, 32 off for women and 35 off for men; starting shorter being allowed. Things were more interesting as a viewer. As many have said, having Freddie provide perspective was great too.

Baller Cnewbert Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 @klindy we missed that. We had a 2 hour drive to get home and left right after the men’s slalom. Smart solution though. I understand time was of the essence for the men’s jump final because of the lowering sun angle and west facing jump. I think the organizers did an amazing job managing the entire event so well with the many weather challenges they faced.
Baller BS74 Posted October 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2021 When does the time between passes start? Is it when the boat goes thru the exit 55's?
