Skiing in Oahu

I have a job interview in Honolulu on Monday, October 30, and we plan to relocate there in the new year. I need a contact at the Oahu Ski Club. Also, should I import my ski boat with our household shipment? What about a car? Prices are high on the island so maybe it's worth paying the tax?

I'm not bringing my ski but would love to watch others ski the course!

I skied a tournament there back in 2012, it was a decent site and a great group.  Wish they still had events, I'd definitely go back

@SkiGal re: shipping your boat from the mainland, be aware that the club skis on salt water.  Does your boat have an open or closed cooling system?

And I did not bring my ski on this 10 day trip for the job interview. If I move here, I'd be bringing my ski with all the household stuff later in the new year. 

For some reason, Oahu Ski Club hasn't responded to my email. I'd like to head out there to watch others ski on this trip. Just to get a feel for the place.

It’s usually an early morning thing,  before the wind comes up, accessed from a boat launch that’s just across the channel. So you need a boat to get there. Your Moomba engine can easily be adapted to fresh water cooling for use in the salt water.

When I skied there in 1980, you would park your car, flash your headlights in the direction of the site, someone would boat over to pick you up and take you to the site. No access by car so it was helpful if someone knew to expect you and look for your headlights. SkiGal you will learn about Hawaiian culture, don't worry, don't hurry, life moves at a slow pace over there.
