This would be our dream property. How hard is it to buy something like this a relocate from the UK? Is US immigration a difficult process? What is that area of the country like? What are the weather seasons?

@itsallyellow Louisiana is one of the most unique parts of the US due to it's history, geography and culture.  People are friendly and the cuisine is great.  Expect hot, humid summers.  Idk what the immigration process is.  Good luck with your quest!

Thanks for the reply, Hot is good for us and having spent the last few hours researching the whole thing looks to be exactly what we would want. Property market is a bit slow over here at the moment which could be a stumbling block as we would need to sell a couple of our properties. 

Could gators be an issue?

One of my favorite places I've skied.  Such a unique place.  Ski in front and hang out on the open water in back.  Couldn't ask for a better set of neighbors in the Franks, also.

That is a great set up and property, really nice. That there is bass fishing is a huge plus for me. The wooded  surrounds look great.

I don't think I've seen anything that compares to it - anywhere. It was an awesome place to raise our children. It's in the Mandeville school district, which is one of the best in the region.  We have it priced well below replacement cost.
