  1. This is getting off topic - but the hinges don't attach to the honey comb panel. The panel pulls out to access the mufflers and rudder. The hinges attach to a board in front of the panel.
  2. @DavidN - happened to the 04 LXI my inlaws have. The honeycomb floor panel right behind the motor was mush. It has around 1000 hours on it now, but the problem started many years ago.
  3. @DavidN - the trade off is that the awesome panel material that Malibu uses breaks down over time and becomes squishy. The fix is typically to buy a piece of King Starboard to replace the flimsy honeycomb stuff.
  4. Take a look here to see what you are in for http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=801723
  5. @skifan the issue is that boats with glue in carpet don't typically have gel coated floors. They are rough glass.
  6. Unless you have snap out carpet you are in for a ton of work
  7. For me - I would never use that totally awesome stuff on vinyl. The reason it works is that the main ingredient that actually does something is Butyl Carbitol (acetate), which is a solvent.
  8. Have your handy man cut them? But seriously - you have a link for that? Looks like something that I could adapt to a wall mount in the garage.
  9. Replace the horizontal pieces with longer wood and it would look like it was made for that purpose.
  10. I tried a few products other than the 303 and couldn't stand the stink of most of them. Not sure why everything needs to smell like Pina Colada. 4 years later still using the 303 cleaner and protectant on the vinyl. The hull gets collinite fleet wax a couple times a year and wipedowns with Eagle One wax as you dry to keep the water spots at bay (black boats - jeeze)
  11. So are you guys thinking that this was not done at the factory? Not sure if you could get sport seating in a regular Malibu Response or if only the corvette boats had it in a direct drive. But it was an option in the v drives for quite a while.
  12. Seen plenty of Malibu's like that, never a nautique.
  13. @"Keith Menard" I think people just buy the malibus with no discussion. Can't recall the last time I saw anything but a Malibu ski boat around here. (Anything that wasn't an ancient Ford powered Nautique)
  14. If I read all that correctly - Roger set another new M11 slalom record?
  15. There are some pictures here. Looks like the distributor is in the normal location for a smallblock - they just mount the engine backwards, run a pulley off the flywheel for the alternator and drive the transmission off the front of the crank. https://chris-craft.org/discussion/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8039
  16. The patrol boats on Minnetonka are pretty good sized center consoles (24-26ft?), seems like it would be tough to miss. It'll be interesting to see what actually happened.
  17. No details, but how does a skier collide with a patrol boat? https://www.fox9.com/news/water-skier-hurt-after-colliding-with-water-patrol-boat-on-lake-minnetonka
  18. Your body will tell you. First time I had it done after the 2nd kid it was no big deal, felt back to normal in a few days. The second time I got it done after the 3rd it was more like a week and a half. BTW - make sure to go in for the follow up test ;)
  19. My folks are not making the trip down this winter due to the Covid numbers down there. I'd also expect that there will be a lot more rental availability this winter. VRBO is a good place to look, my BIL rented a place out on Sanibel for a few months that way. Although in the dead of winter I'd be looking in Naples or the Keys.
  20. Your boat trailers must be better behaved than mine. Mine is a handful going a mile even with the brakes locked out. A trailer sprung to be towed with 3-5K sitting on it bounces like crazy when empty. Bracemaker has the right idea - strapping a full 55 gallon drum of water to the bunks would help a lot. If I were driving to get one I would put it on top a car trailer.
  21. @MDB1056 - you ever towed an empty boat trailer very far?
  22. That craigslist trailer appears to have no brakes if you care about that. To be legal in MN you need to have them on all axles and a breakaway system if you are over 3000lbs.
  23. How big a cables are on the battery? The other fix would be to get some 0/2 fine wire cables and run them to the stock location. A lot less drop than the standard undersized 4 gauge cables that come in most boats.
  24. oops - didn't get all the water out last winter. IF you are feeling brave you could just clean it up, apply some flux and use some pipe solder on it.
  25. Looks like a standard top mount starter with red paint on it. There is no way that Illmor is manufacturing starters with the small volume of engines they build.
