  1. I've had screws put in between the talus and calcaneus. I was lucky that it was towards the end of the season. I did all the rehab aggressively. I was skiing by the beginning of the next season. Took longer to get up to normal ski form than usual, but I got there. The ankle was a little sore for about 1 year or more.
  2. I broke ankles on Animals. Try something else.
  3. I would avoid U-Haul, at least for the electrical work. They used a cheap scotch lock on mine and it took out my entire electrical system.
  4. I looked at this place a couple of years ago. The lake seemed nice, the condo was nice and the price was nice. The issue that I had was that the HOA does not actually own the lake or the water front. At the time, they were trying to get permanent rights to the water front. Maybe they were successful since then. Also, there we no more room for additional boats or docks. I had to walk away because of the potential risk of not being able to keep my boat there.
  5. I bought a place in Orlando, near Disney last year. We use it Jan-March with a couple of weeks in the fall. There are 8 ski schools within 30 minutes of us. Cape Canaveral beach is 1 hr 10 minutes away. We rent it out to Disney visitors the rest of the year. It just about pays for itself and we end up staying there for free.
  6. The options in Orlando are much greater. Many ski schools in the area to choose from. I am from upstate NY so I never find it too cold to ski in Orlando. Others may say differently, especially if you are from a warmer climate. Ft, Meyers as a ski school as well. I've heard good things about it, but I've never skied there. Eden Lakes. A little outside the city. I have a house that I rent in Orlando, but I will be there Jan-March.
  7. The strap passes through loops in the plate.
  8. I have been using my Powervest for a couple of years now, and I love it. The one downside is that it is quite heavy. Has anybody tried using it without the plastic plate in the back? My thought is that you would still get the pull through the straps with a lot less added weight.
  9. Back in the day, I had a friend who strapped an old oval shaped flotation device to the top side of the ski. It was painted red and it almost always flipped right side up.
  10. I have a "T" dock section just in front of the bow to do a good wipe down. I also have a car washing pad that is mounted to an extending pole that can be used for a wipe down, or a quick wax. Got it a Walmart.
  11. You might want o consider a Goode Powervest. I have suffered from minor back issues for years. I have been on the Powervest for a couple of years, with no back issues at all. Al least while skiing. Expensive, but worth the $.
  12. For the Teak, I suggest a lite sand, depending on how bad it is, cleaning with a good Teak cleaner, and then finish up with a couple of coats of Cetol.
  13. I am currently seeing a sports Ortho Surgeon. He was the ORTHO surgeon for the Buffalo Bills at one point, so I am trusting him at this point. He may send me to a professional PT at some point, but for now, just doing stretches and lots of icing. He says it can't be cold enough for long enough. Very little pain at this point, but very weak and limited ROM.
  14. My Dr has instructed me to do my own PT. He says the Pro's tend to overstretch things. I am only doing minor stretching, and ice as often and as cold as I can stand it. Stretching to mild discomfort, but no pain is what he says.
  15. Thanks. I was wearing a Power Vest when this happened. I've had 0 back issues since using it.
  16. A couple of weeks ago, I dislocated my elbow, by about 60 degrees in the wrong direction and 3 breaks in the elbow. After 2 weeks, I am already out of my splint and starting to do minor stretching. The Dr is telling me that only 1% of people get back 100% range of motion, but skiing is possible again, but after up to a year of PT. I am obviously very discouraged, but I am looking for anybody else who may have been through something similar, and look for how things went for them. I can only guess that my arm went through the handle on a very minor fall. It all happened so fast, I really don't know for sure. I can only assume that recovery at my advanced age of 59 is slow and methodical.
  17. It appears that the new Radar grippers have a loop that might be able to be used on the Good power vest? Anybody try that yet?
  18. Why is it that the ice fisherman have to start their power augers about 50 feet from my bedroom window at 6AM on a Saturday morning? I seem some guys go out at 6 AM and don't come out until 8-9 at night. They must hate their spouses!
  19. I know that when I had to replace my gloves this past summer, I accidentally installed them with the straps about 2" shorter than normal. Getting up was a little more difficult, but over the next 2 weeks I tied my PB about 6 times.
  20. Does anybody know if there is a problem with SIA? I have not been able to get there for several days.
  21. Best season ever. Last year I ran my PB -28 only 2 times. This year I ran it over 25 times. I head to Florida on Saturday to keep things going!!! At 58, I'm thankful to continue to get better.
  22. I've used the Spectrum repair kits a couple of times with great success but for scratches, not cracks.
  23. We are starting to run out of water depth, so that will likely end my season up north, but heading to my new place in Orlando for winter time skiing after that!!!
  24. The best advice that I got was to make sure you are "Counter rotating" on the offside turn. My buddy helped me to understand what that meant. Swing your left arm (LLF) back on the offside turn like you are pulling a bow and arrow.
