  1. Be patient and Let the ski finish the turn. 246 especially you are grabbing the handle before the ski has come under the rope. You're then loaded early and let up before the wake. I think it starts at your gate. You jump on the pull out of your glide instead of having a progressive lean into the wake.
  2. I'd actually recommend the lithium for the more responsive core. I don't think he will get the benefits of the updated shape as much as the pvc core.
  3. @OldboyII can't say I'm surprised based on the manufacturer, not known as being the strongest ski's out there... That ski is flat out broken though, not delaminating...
  4. @OldboyII that doesnt look like delamination. Looks like a weak ski that flexed too much or it got hit. Completely different issue.
  5. I've found they are among the best in the industry. Pics? What is the model year of bindings? Products carry a 1 year warranty typically. I have 2 pairs of the second run of RS1 bindings. 2009 I believe and they are far from worn out. Probably the best single waterski product I've ever bought and they were a game changer to boot
  6. @paco decision mostly lies in if you want a pullover vs zipper. I had an original decibel that fell apart, mostly at the zipper. I see a lot of skiers in vapor vests around from the original green 14 to current and they all look to be in good shape. I have an oneI'll checkmate that has great padding and floatation but it is a bit bulky when wet and rides up when I fall.
  7. It's the weekend and the wind has picked up of course. Thunderstorms in the forecast all day tomorrow anD plenty of rain. When I'm at work next week it will be mint I'm sure! This sport sucks!!!
  8. @thrix because it likely doesn't very well, but better than nothing I suppose. Probably limits pre-release
  9. I had the same ski. It is measured by following the bottom curve. It skis more like a 67, while the 67.5 skis more like a 68. I tried both before deciding on the 66.5 and I came off a 66.75 A1 I'm 185 5.10 and skied at 34 mostly. The 66.5 probably better but the 65.5 wouldn't be that small for you at 36, personal preference imo
  10. Don't be afraid at slowing the speed, but no more than 1mph, then increase .5mph. Many pros have learned new lines by slowing the speed a bit.
  11. I'm surprised the 200 is more expensive than the prostar. I've not driven either but I've "heard" the prostar is not as easy to drive. The txi is probably the best public lake all around family boat.
  12. There is zero issue with nationals or any other big tourney being 1 round winner takes all. That's sport. Most sports have an equivalent to that; The super bowl comes to mind or the wild card game in MLB. Olympic hockey another, etc etc. But @Horton 's point about going to ski for 3.5passes is entirely accurate. Most won't do it, and we need to make the competitive side of the sport more fun and rewarding. A good way around that is have the 1 round medal round but 2 or 3 or however many rounds of pick and choose (for the trickers) are possible of record tourney as well. Maybe throw in a guaranteed 4 pass tourney also.
  13. with the fixed plate; can you cant the boot now?
  14. I was going to suggest checking to be sure you're getting the correct rpm reading from the engine but the revised numbers look better
  15. @canuckpuck30 wait a few weeks... closed bow inboards are not the hot commodity. People ask all kinds of crazy things I sold my 90 nautique for 9k cad 6 or 7 years ago.... 20k will get you a tsc1 A 98-99 malibu sportster is worth no more than 10k usd with low hours and is a huge upgrade to the boomerang. I believe also the boomerangs were wood for and stringers while a 90s Malibu or mastecraft is no wood..
  16. I think they stopped in 99 or 2000. The moomba site indicates 2000 as the last model but who knows how long they had them hanging around. The one pictured has a 351 and the colors look more early 90s. No way it's a late model boomerang. They are neat little boats but I'd rather have a malibu or Mastercraft a few years older for similar coin.
  17. Doesn't make much sense at all. I'd do it once just to cross it off the list.
  18. the reason I switched to a dbl boot setup shy of 20 years ago was because of a concussion when my rear foot came out of the RTP and I went OTF For a specific rear foot injury; I cut a vein on the top of my rear foot on the ski somehow. Wouldn't stop bleeding and all the boat crew had in the medical kit was a maxi pad. I was from there on out "tampon skier". If the concussions weren't enough to move to a rear boot, that was :)
  19. Skiers look like they're turning 90deg at the buoy... very interesting, looking forward to trying it. Finally HO has come around to building a soft boot with removable liner, FINALLY. great job HO
  20. @roger I really like the lambo green, much more so than the red or the 15 blue/yellow. to each his own! the coral looks sweet though
  21. nice skiing, I'd add to the above that your lean coming into 1 ball is extremely aggressive & you don't lean that hard going from 2-3 or 4-5. This is likely a product of being narrow as was already suggested to get higher on the boat, but its causing you to come into 1 too fast, unstable and downcourse, with a loose line coming around the buoy. I would say that due to that overly aggressive lean (which looks cool btw), the boat is reacting aggressively, pulling you out of it too soon and you're riding a flat ski, bleeding speed into the buoy. Not sure if its related but you're then throwing your reaching arm out too early coming into 1 (and to a lesser extend 3&5), with little connection to the rope. think about being high on the boat, smooth turn in on the front foot and progressive lean into the gates, keeping the handle down and close with a smooth and controlled reach into 1 and ski back to the handle on the back side of the buoy.
  22. HO is coming out with a new softshell boot (2017) with removable liner that looks pretty good. I could never go back to rubber personally after years in softshell boots. I swore off Wiley after a week at ski school. 10mins in the water was OK, but 1/2 an hour was foot numbing. Mine were adjusted many different ways and I was right at the short end of the size spectrum. A good compromise between rubber, hardshell and a high end softshell is the Radar Vector boot. Probably the most popular intermediate boot in the last 10 years. the HO Xmax is the HO equivalent. A step up from there is the profile and then the Vapor. HO CX or radar Senate ski 67"
  23. From I've seen its not new, its the same shape/layup as the 16 and its called the Vapor "coral".. @andjules I agree!
  24. @Mark_Matis much easier & simple to utilize a water filled buoy. EZ Ed has recommended water buoys over counter weights on this forum before. The water filled buoy doesn't change the dynamics of the course at all, while counter weights do. I find with most portable courses I see people over-inflate the buoys, including boat guides. I find the course is more stationary when its trying to sink, as opposed to float. Its not necessary to try and sink the course, it will do that all by itself.
