  1. Cable parks are not a real threat to wakeboard boat sales. People who buy 100k+ wakeboard boats aren't not buying them because they can ride a cable, and typically that's not who's riding the cable anyways, maybe the boat owners kid. Its just another growth avenue for wakeboarding, although I've been told by industry reps there aren't any cable parks in America that actually make money, OWC included. There is a stepping stone to buying a boat if you ride a cable, esspecially as your cable riders age and make more money to afford these boats. OWC also has a boat lake...
  2. Wade: Where abouts in Otown are you located? Looking at coming down at the end of October.
  3. nobody mentioned Jon Travers. One of the only other dudes to get down 41 in a tourny... Masters winner as well.
  4. @SailorDave17‌ the wing helps the ski decelerate and also acts as a stabilizer. You do not need it at this point in your skiing most likely, but almost all decent skis come with a wing (2 screws and its on or off). It really wont make much of a difference to you if its on or off. Take it off if in doubt. so many good skis that will work great for you, don't stress over it. Make sure you get the right size!!!! perfski.com is a sponsor here, they can hook you up. I'm a fan of putting guys like you into the Radar Vector boot. The HO attack is a similar boot from that company. Go double boot if that is what you are used to, but many are going back to RTPs, I never felt comfortable in one, always worried my foot would come out (and they can), so I have been on a DBL forever.
  5. senate for sure. better yet get the senate C, they are not too much ski for you.
  6. rear feather frames only fit newer radar skis, most other binding plates should work on the older radar skis. Dont drill the feather frames, they aren't a plate - injection molded plastic.
  7. @Brady they should put a loogan like you or me out there before the pros.... the pro's, especially at 36, make it look too easy. Anyone who's skied knows its so far from easy...
  8. is this basically the same ski as the endo?
  9. Ideally you want the most energy created directly behind the boat, right? That should give you the most swing. A 2nd or subsequent pull or "tug" to me is the wrong terminology, but I understand and probably utilize the concept myself, because that point in the pull from the boat is the greatest and thus the energy you've created to that point has reached its peak and now has to be released and the speed controlled into the buoy. so it not a 2nd pull per se, its really the point of the greatest lean, where you have to be strongest, its also the point where you would start to transition to the opposite edge, where you release a significant amount of energy from one edge to the other. My 2
  10. http://www.jodisskischool.com/ is another good one, Jodi has probably helped me the most in all the coaching I've had in the last 3-4 years. I am also looking at heading to FLA in mid December or mid January for a few days. I've never skied in Florida in the winter, latest was November last year and it was perfect weather, albeit a bit windy. I'd assume anywhere north of West Palm, where the gulf stream starts heading out to sea, things get cooler. There is also Chet Raley in west palm, Arturo Nelson in Miami and McGinnis in Lauderdale (more for pulls than lessons).
  11. unfortunately not 1 mention of "release". build them with removable and releasable liners and only then I'm interested.
  12. @Horton‌ If you can't read the humor and sarcasm in my post, I don't know what to say and how my name (which is that of a nobody in the waterski world) changes anything. My name might as well be John Smith (close enough).. Seriously though, what exactly do you find offensive about my post? no more jokes allowed on the forum, or only your friends can make them? @TylerR‌ lighten up, and I don't care who you are or aren't. BTW I have done ski deals with other members here, so I'm not anonymous at all, they not only know my name, but phone number, email and home address as well. I'd prefer a few thousand strangers not know my name, or bots be able to search me out - call me crazy?
  13. Its got to be the Canadian beer then
  14. what is the spread like between his boots? I have always had my boots as close as possible, but on the vapor thanks to some pro coaching, I increased the spread, moving the rear boot back, and the front boot forward 1/8. I agree on gate, too hard too soon, He's late through that entire 22 pass. great technique though, maybe just a little slump.
  15. I have rs1 boots with footbeds in them. I heat molded them with the footbeds so they've expanded to the extra space needed. Can't see the benefit of using the footbeds in the shells vs the liners either, I'm an 8.5 foot in 9 RS1s.
  16. I've seen a few 2014 ronix vests completely destroyed after 2 months of use. I have a radar decible 2 years old that fits great, has decent protection and floats great, but its starting to come apart at the zipper. I prefer Oneill, simply can't go wrong, lots like the camaro and eagle stuff around here.
  17. @skibumsam‌ how you stand on the ski is the most important aspect of skiing. Without a proper stance you'll never get very far in a slalom course or open water for that matter. A lot of it just comes from trust or the lack thereof. You are not trusting that your ski can edge through the wakes, so you end up squatting (a defensive position), which drops your butt back and you then need to hold on with your arms more. really work on edging through the wakes NOTHING else. Forget about turning the ski when working on your leverage position. You crank the turn, and that puts you into the butt back position. These are a bit old school, but apply to where you're at. Simply Stand tall, and lean over. NO pulling! Try it pulling out, then try it going through the wakes.
  18. @skibumsam‌ looking good in those vids, just keep working on your stacked body position. Hips over feet! you start off okay, then your butt drops back as you approach the wake forcing the ski flat. you are still rushing your turns a bit too much for the purpose of the drill, let the ski arc out to get you wider, slowly come around and then a nice progressive lean through the wakes, led by your hips. the slalom rhythm is just like a swingset - you gain speed and altitude on the swing when you are pushed from the very bottom of the swing, never the top - the bottom of the slalom swing is directly behind the boat - this is where you need to be the strongest, and really force your hips forward. Arms straight like Paul Jager says - super key for any skier, you have a tendency to pull in. Overall I see an improvement from the earlier vid, so keep at it!
  19. Ouch! Ive also been out the season from a shoulder injury (non skiing related). Good luck with the surgery
  20. @skibumsam these vids from @Sethski‌ helped me. IMO don't even think about turns at this point, take a look at the thread regarding "killer turns not necessary". You need to work on your leverage/cutting and overall body position. The ski will turn if its on edge, no need to even think about it at this point.
  21. I interchange between vice gloves and regular gloves. I am in a med vice, and they aren't super snug, a small won't fit though. I generally pull the dowels out. I use a 1.03 13" masterline curved handle. works great but prefer the control of regular gloves. have missed a few passes thanks to mis-grabs with the clinchers. Dont feel as safe with them.
  22. I have an Epic II 3/2 suit. fits great and keeps you warm in cold water to 50ish degrees, also reasonably priced. For how often it gets used (a few weeks a year between dry suit and spring suit) it works well. In really cold water, you want water penetration, that's what keeps you warm. Haven't run a camaro since my dad's 68 Rs SS... The new ones look great though :)
  23. @OB I don't doubt that, but its only the last 2-3 years that the number of pro tournaments has decreased. As we are in a year with no worlds (no cash prize either), it is even more noticeable IMO. There aren't the international comps like we've seen in the past either, ie. Princes, France, Dubna, etc. Something has to change in this sport, and its more than just rule changes, but I'll tell you that the kids out there at tournaments aren't looking up to Jeff Rogers and David Miller, they're looking up to guys like Nate Smith and Jon Travers. @ToddL‌ it "may be" more closely followed because its an actual "tour", there is no pro tour anymore, so not much to follow... The Masters and Malibu open are large events, larger than most of the BD stops, no? I have a lot of respect for BD skiers, and I ski at 34, which means I have even more respect for Pro skiers at 36. Here's an interesting question: Would Nate Smith beat Andy Mapple in a head to head under the lights - he's at 36, Andy at 34? Has anyone ever considered the idea of opening the BD to the real big dawgs of the sport?
  24. @ob there hasn't been money in the competition for some time, We all know that. Is the reason the BD is bigger than the pro tour because there isn't a $25000 purse? I honestly dont know. There is a large cost to putting on the BD and I have been a fan for years but not at the expense of seeing the best skiers ski vs overagers. For a pro skier the money is in promoting their ski school IMO or should be. A select few in some sponsorship money. For Nate Smith the cash purse, yet 20 other guys tend to show up to pro events... :)
