  1. @chrislandy It was warmer on Christmas day (58) than it is here today(54)
  2. Yeah, Short summer. 52 right now, might get to 58 for a high, forecast low of 38 tonight. Summer in NY Adirondacks!
  3. Hands and spray leg, have skied less than 10 times so far and only open water. Takes a while to build up callouses and get the spray leg toughened up. If I get my course in this weekend I can then add to the list of what hurts.
  4. I free ski a lot with my only ski. Longer runs and drop to rest, usually shorten from 22 down to 35 and ski at 35mph. I try and concentrate on improving technique without having to worry about getting that one more buoy. Try to imitate course skiing intensity while keeping a tight line, skiing back under the rope at the end of the turn and reaching properly on my offside(not reaching forward) etc.
  5. I hope to put this theory to the test this season. Lost 10 lbs last year but didn't get to any tournaments. Back to college HS & college weight. But as @skiboyny pointed out at my age(last couple yrs of M6) I have lost some muscle mass. The loss of 10lbs did seem to help w XC ski endurance and uphill climbing while BC skiing. Fingers crossed for Water ski benefits. Hasn't snowed in almost 2 weeks, hop to have the boat in and start skiing this weekend!
  6. Winter(actually spring) and summer.
  7. @PatM It's a beautiful boat! This was last Saturday 5/1/21, was hoping to get some skiing in on the water not snow for a change but mother nature was not very helpful.
  8. @buoyboy1 I would love for that to work but I don't think it will work. I will look closely when I get home tonight and check though.
  9. After making some measurements and re reading the comments here I found that @PurdueSkier may have had the best suggestion. Adding a small section between the surge brake and the Y might give me a little more clearance. The distance from the back of the Actuator and the Y is 5.5"s. It looks like the hinge unit I will need to install is about 7.5"s I will check w the person doing the job to see if this will be doable. In the end it might be easier than having to remove the Actuator and bleeding the brakes each year. Photos attached.
  10. Lost a drop ski one evening. Looked for days afterward w no luck. Found it many years later in a neighbors garage sale all beat up. Said he found it along the shore several years after we lost it.
  11. Only hit 3 things skiing, 2 at tournaments, one free skiing. First time at a tourney I was just outside the wake as the boat made a hard turn to line up for the course. I was on the outside of the wake about 20' from shore trying not to sink and must have hit a log, full eject front flip. Got a re-ride and somehow not ski damage or injury. Second time at a tourney must have hit a big Snapper from 4 to 5 ball at 28, right behind the boat. Face hit the water before I knew what had happened. Couple front flips, scorpion. Tried to ski second round but back was not good. Flattened the bottom of my fin, didn't realize it until about a week later when I tried to ski again. Other hit was a bat to my chest while out free skiing at dusk, no injury to me, not sure about the bat.
  12. Did some measuring this weekend, looks like the simplest(maybe) solution would be to just remove the Actuator for the Surge brakes once I get the boat in the garage. Looks like 4 big bolts will need to be removed and the brake line disconnected. That will get me a one foot of space savings. But even that will be close. Inside measurement on garage is 22' 6"s and the boat on the trailer is 23' 6"s. So if I get the Actuator removed and angle the tongue to one side it looks like that will work. Anyone have any thoughts or experience removing an Actuator?
  13. @Dano That is a possible solution, didn't have time last fall to check that; Once I launch the boat I can take the trailer over to the garage and see if that might work. @BraceMaker Sounds like a good idea but I don't think that would work with the Surge Brake unit set up as shown. @Jmoski That is also a possibility but not really wanting to spend that much on a new trailer.
  14. @Skihacker I agree, a lot of screwing around. @TomH I do only need about a foot but I am not sure there is even enough room between the Surge brake unit and the triangle.
  15. Thanks @jhughes It would be helpful to see a picture of this type of trailer where a conversion has been done. Not for me personally since I wont be doing the welding etc but for the guy who will be doing it. If anyone has a picture it would be great. Thanks.
  16. So I just got the boat out of storage a few weeks ago and it doesn't look to me like I will gain much in clearance with the folding modification.
  17. It's April, I'm getting out to ski...... on 7"s of new H2O.
  18. @DavidN Saw that on SIA but I'm pretty sure that is not a 2013 model, probably closer to the 2009 that @chaloux is looking to replace. Look back at @Horton unboxing the 2013 Prophecy back in June 2013. The 2013 shown on SIA is 2 generations back.
  19. I don't think you could go wrong updating to a 2013-14 Prophecy, although there aren't any on SIA at this time. I have been on a 2014 Prophecy since late 2013 and really like it. (obviously) I am a proponent of the old "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school so I haven't upgraded. I don't think the ski is holding me back from getting more buoys, just my poor technique. Although I did complete the survey in hopes of winning a new DV8!
  20. @Than_Bogan What @lpskier said!
  21. @lpskier, Just a wild hunch but I think that ski might be seen on SIA at some point in the not to distant future based on prior sightings.
  22. @lpskier Let me guess, Jonathan?
  23. @skibrain Minnesota & @tjs1295 N Wisconsin. Probably similar temps to Adirondacks in N NY. Different tool for different skiing. Yesterday on hill and had to check out the lake. And @ReallyGottaSki , looks like the top of Wildcat?
  24. @skibrain Ditto. @tjs1295 not sure where you are but where I am now it's 11 degrees with a forecast high of 16. But 50 by mid week. Tons of snow so the skiing is still good and will be for a while.
  25. @skibrain, Working on traditional XC ski tech on my Fischer Super Lights. Also trying not to make a mess stripping old glue off climbing skins and re-glueing same. Finally have a decent base of snow here to get out more.
