  1. You guys over complicate everything. I've used high quality windshield washer fluid for over 30 years. No problems ever. Put a small container with the same solution next to it to keep an eye on it when it gets cold. Down to 16 below I've had no problems. We're not talkin the North Pole here . You get a nice day in January do you want to take the boat out start it up and go. You don't have to feel like you just dumped 50 bucks down the drain.
  2. @Mick04 the only goofy thing is a few of the sub buoys seem to have become spongy. The rest of everything is solid. Freshwater and darkness. My friend puts a ratchet strap on the bow eye. 23 years later we're still perfecting it.
  3. @Deke in a 10 foot boat tender I couldn't bust them loose an hour later after I set them. But with just me in the boat the boat would rock like mad. Maybe from a ski platform be a different story.
  4. @skierjp shallow is 12' then gradually descends to about 23 ft.
  5. 23 years ago I set my anchors and the bottom is pretty muddy. We have to move them slightly to survey it. (I set all the subs at about 6'.) Would you know anyway to grab the rope (Std. blue ski line) so we could pull on it without pulling the sub bouys over the top knot. I bought a rope clamp that was designed for 3/8 anchor line but it will not work with that hollow braid ski line. What I'm trying to avoid is going down - pushing the sub down and making another loop on top to pull from. Why? Because then the subs will be about 8' deep. I'm afraid that if I just hook it under the sub as it is right now when we yank it'll probably pull the sub over the top knot. if I just make a knot and a lasso I'm afraid it'll just slide up the rope. I need something where I can just grab that rope so that it will hold without making an underwater expedition like raising the Titanic or something.Just curious if you might have a better idea?
  6. Sorry to hear that. When's the last time that he skied?
  7. @Ilivetoski - Hey you could get banned for a comment like that. We're not looking for any independent thinkers here. Please lets stick to conformity - please.
  8. Are you talking about getting in off the platform saying hit it it and getting back in the boat? Okay I guess you won't have a problem. Not with mine. Depending on where I'm at I'm a 150 -155 lb. Much below 65 degrees water and if I'm in there for any amount of time doing coursework there's no way I'm going to tell you that I'm toasty warm and I'm getting out and it's as good as a drysuit - no way. If other guys are going to tell you they are as great as a drysuit good for them that's my personal experience. It is not as good as a drysuit.. it is what it is - it's a good quality low cost very fragile wetsuit. People are all nice, no problems, but am I going to tell you you're going to stay as warm as a drysuit,? No I am not. Go ahead now start the thumbs down responses.
  9. " the key is selling fun" - right, $100,000 boats without a trailer that should definitely move the needle in the right direction. Good luck on that one.
  10. Guilty until proven innocent. Drag somebody's name through the mud and you don't even know what the deal is whether he did or didn't. But let's just throw this innuendo out there and let everybody speculate. Then we have people that commit suicide but everything's got to be top secret - can't talk about it - hush-hush. But here a guys reputation now is effectively ruined but that's cool. I personally know someone who was ruined by the same type of accusations and kangaroo court process. I'm not saying this guy did or didn't do anything (Nate Smith I mean) but the person I know was basically tried in the media never went to court and his career was ruined. Yes eventually the truth came out that it was all a lie but because it had been allowed to be put out in the press they made shambles of this man's life that I'm talking about. He was never able to return to the profession that he loved. Guess what happened to the minor the made the false accusations? Nothing! This countries going in the wrong direction.
  11. I was looking at that at the TO boat show. Brings back memories. Looked nice. 1st time I ever saw one was in '76. Was leaving Crystal Beach Amusement park with my present wife. It was in the parking lot of the very 1st Tim Hortons I ever went in. ----A long long time ago ---
  12. Did you see how the fin is also adjustable and resides in entirely within the profile of the blank. Can't get much lower drag than that setup. With what everyone pays for skis these days or boats for that matter I can't see where the additional cost would bother some of these high rollers.
  13. I basically lost my ability to throttle it up for the cold start. ( transmission lockout button pulled out ) I should mention that is w/throttle lever being pushed towards the bow. Same situation going towards the stern w/throttle lever and I have 100% full throttle available. This was the problem - my throttle cable at the throttle lever end at the control box had spun it's way out, gradually reducing my cold start idle up rpm over time. There is a jam nut on the end of the throttle cable to keep the threaded brass insert stationary once it is set and that appeared to still be in place. But for a fact the cable had spun way down the threads. Have any of you ever had this happen? The same thing happened years ago and I actually don't remember when, given that it was only once over 26 years. Thanks
  14. @T-fromTO that'll teach those "ticks"to go for a ride!
  15. Would you continue to live if you knew at the end of the road you were going to die?
  16. Would you continue to live if you knew at the end of the road you were going to die?
  17. You know what P T Barnum said right? I'm sorry they're on drugs. They are totally out of touch with reality.
  18. It's prescription. Dymista. Spray it before. I have to laugh at the mfrs. side effects. This does nothing to me except stop the allergic reaction of the water. As an absolute last resort I will sparingly use Afrin or whatever. Years ago I ruined my nose with nasal sprays and had to start allergy shots. They worked.but every once and a while I get in a strange body of water and it doesn't sit well with me. My friend dug a pond from a borrow pit and it just drives my sinuses mad. Nobody else just me. Dymista is so easy.
  19. @eleeski sorry Eric I wasn't trying to be rude by not replying to this. I just happened to see this. I don't look at this all this time. Since Thomas Wayne got kicked out it just became boring. How do you like that for Good Humor? You say I'm confusing the issue. What issue is that? That water skiing is safe or that there are no safe bindings out there? There are no safe findings out there. I stand by that one. I guess they put those disclaimers on there for the hell of it. It's like these guys that want to perpetuate that it's always out the front falls. That's the biggest joke I've ever heard. Let's design a binding where the front foot is fixed in a solid Loop and the rear is attached where only vertical upward motion releases it. Sounds like a real plan there. It's no wonder the pharmaceutical companies are making a fortune with painkillers with these bindings out there. You want a release in all planes of motion that would allow each foot being able to be released independently. So that when one goes the other is released. Sorry I can't be a conformist or one of the minions. But for an old guy you're cool.
  20. www.painscience.com/articles/strength-training-frequency.php One of the better articles I've read. I don't know about you guys but I no longer have the time for 3 times a week of lifting weights. I only wish I had this to read 45 years ago. I have lost NOTHING in strength following this. 1set - once a week. I still increase my strength at once a week of lifting. After back surgery I vowed never to lift weights again. Well I can tell you this nothing makes me feel better than lifting weights. ( I absolutely hate running )
  21. @ELDIABLO You're 21. You've a long life ahead of you. You have just sustained your 1st serious injury. My guess is you want to continue on skiing. Have you ever heard the definition of insanity? Do you hear what these guys are telling you? --THERE ISN'T A SAFE BINDING OUT THERE!!!!! THEY DON'T EXIST!!!! How do you feel about Russian roulette? Ask yourself this question.. DO YOU FEEL LUCKY? -----WELL DO YOU?----Just so you know you are talking to one of the insane. Am I trying to be funny? Yes I am. Am I serious in a sarcastic way? Yes I am. I'm giving you some advice take it for what it's worth. I wish someone had given me advice a long time ago about this sport. But I wouldn't have listened. Forget the ice fields - Full Speed Ahead!
  22. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade with these Camaros, but if anyone thinks your going to replace a drysuit with these you better do your homework. I bought a Blactec 2.0 (1.5) because I bought into all the hype here about it. I got the discount, immediate delivery, and surfer girl was very pleasant to deal with. It's not replacing my drysuit though. I'm 59, 150- 155 Ibs. very little fat and I was getting cold in 60 deg water. Granted I was pulling down the balls and was in the water awhile but I also filled it up with hot water from my shower. Yes it's flexible and all that and has a decent warranty it's just the cold issue. ( and I'm well acquainted with cold water and working in sub-zero temps.) And for sure you better be careful putting on and taking off. The best comparison of this suit fragility wise is those old black skiwarms from 35 years ago. I've an Oneill 3/4 slalom suit that is over 10 years old with no damage to it!! I wish they still made those. fwiw
  23. @lpskier Mud huh? Please bring it my Mud Lake. That has to be government-owned right?
