  1. No eye problems here, but I did ski with sun glasses on the earlier this week. The evening sun this time of year makes it almost impossible to see the gates or right side turn buoys. You will notice them on your face right up until your gate pull-out then not even know they are there for the next 16 seconds. My only advice would be to wipe them down real good with anti-fog. As far as color I would say clear to start until you get the feel for them and then try a color lens if it helps amplify your vision of the course.
  2. @UCFskier good point. free skiing usually resets my brain.
  3. Worst part is I know what a good center of mass feels like. The cross course speed is there and the entire course slows down. Just tried to hard to find it last evening.
  4. @MS never been a double boot guy. Always run a RTP. Using a T-Factor front binding and it keeps the ball of my foot firmly against the ski though I've never really "felt" for the ski. @BraceMaker the back leg theory went through my mind a couple times yesterday but I could never put it all together
  5. Finally got back in the course the last 2 days after an almost 8-week hiatus. Usually I'm a solid 15-32 off guy with an occasional shot at 35. Could not for the life of me get off my back foot. 28 was a struggle. Then started over-thinking everything with technique. If there was one thing to focus on to help get my mass centered over the ski what would that be? RFF, D3 X-5 pro with factory setup
  6. port side drivers seat and throttle would be fun
  7. Didn't see a new thread so I'll add my 2 cents here. I can see how it could happen......sort of. I run a ACME 422 on my 196. Its a big prop with a lot of surface area , but it is the factory prop for that year. At 34.2 through the course if you back out of the throttle quick after a fall the front of the boat will drop slightly and the back end raises us and gets a little "squirrly". Going to reverse from 34.2 is a very good possibility. Also looks like the gate buoy survived if you look closely. Also realize that boat is a Response and not a 196. But big props do funny things when changing speeds drastically.
  8. My post labor day smile comes as I watch all the docks and lifts of weekend warriors starting to get pulled out. River traffic will decrease exponentially over the next week or so and private water conditions will begin to emerge.
  9. We were out with the kids last Sunday in our little aluminum fishing boat just cruising slowly near shore. River was very busy with boats everywhere. Watched a fish n' ski outboard pulling a gal on 2 skis with several boats behind her....watched her drop one ski and continue slalom down river. Ski flipped over and was black on the bottom and hard to see in the brown muddy water. Immediately buzzed over and grabbed the ski and followed them down river. Dropped it off to them when she fell. They were thankful. I just said no problem and be careful with all the boat traffic. Unfortunately most folks don't realize the danger.

  11. Was 78 here in NW Ohio. Yesterday's 5.5" monsoon rain will definitely have an impact on water temp. Muddy debris filled water soon to come on our river as well..... :s
  12. That's really cool. Wonder what the deep short line guys
  13. That's really cool. Be cool to see what the deep short line guys/gals would look like

  16. The new ACME 422 is usually about $400 shipped. And you can typically have these rebuilt several times at a fraction of the cost before the reach their useful life. (pending damage of course). Easy to change with a prop puller.
  17. Bubble gum or chewing gum?
  18. I have no proof that lime a way was the culprit other than that's what the dealer thought was put on it. The harshest acid I have ever used to remove extreme hard water is the works toilet bowl cleaner. 9.5% hydrochloric acid. Older lime a way products were 14.5-20%.
  19. Check out the D3 Leverage blackouts or opt up for the D3T-factors....both are awesome bindings and you won't be disappointed if you prefer rubber over a boot.
  20. @ConPexEr pics of what lime a way supposedly did to the gel for the original owner. those streaks and swirls were permanently in the gel. had to remove the decals, wet sand, strip with acetone, buff, install new decals, and wax. did I have to do it? no. did it drive me absolutely insane looking at the streaks? yes. OCD.
