  1. @ConPexEr for what its worth.... I bought a used boat that had a dark blue hull. On the back starboard side there were some god awful streaks embedded in the gel. Dealer stated the original owner used lime-a-way. Had to wetsand and buff to remove the streaks. Stick with a boat product or at least a less aggressive acid.... babes, boat candy, 50% vinegar 50% water, etc......
  2. 99% sure most of it is my technique and I would never want to go back to a heavier ski. Was just an observation we talked about in the boat after a few sets in some chop. We rode on some glass last evening. Just can't put a price on perfect conditions.
  3. Given newer skis are much lighter than skis of the past, how do you guys manage a little bit of chop? Not rollers or boat waves nor white caps, but when the wind kicks up a bit as is putting down a firm pattern on the water (say 3-5"). I ride a D3 X5 and my brother is on a Lithium vapor and both of us have a hell of a time getting the ski to stick in the turns. Just seems like my old KD7000 would anchor in the water better. Public water portable course so conditions aren't always ideal.
  4. This was given to me by my uncle for my kids to grow into. He's a pretty small guy hence the 63". From what I can tell it's all original and damn near mint. My dad still skis the course on an old shortline just like this except it's a 66"......annnnd he has just a little bit more modern bindings.
  5. @jah81592 many of us here feel your pain. Surfing is easy. People have fun showing off how big of a wave they can make with 100,000lbs of ballast, surf gates, wedges, brackets, widgets, and gizmos even though 90% of the ones in our area still apparently need a rope to surf with.... a.k.a training wheels. The only thing more boring that surfing is watching someone surf - especially with a rope. That's why these boats have mega loud speakers and 9 million cup holders. So the rest of the 15 people on the boat don't get bored out of their mind and can be entertained by something else. Go to any of the big 3 boat companys forums on the web and all you will read is, prop it this way, list it that way, bag it here, put lead there.....The surfing fad will eventually pass just as wakeboarding has started to. The unfortunate piece is the large boats will still remain in the used market. The other item that I'm not sure if anyone has touched on is the boom of the super-pontoon. Tritoons especially. Huge floating living rooms with large outboards capable of taking 15 people while still pulling Johnny and his buddies on a tube at high speeds. Thank god they haven't figured out a way to surf behind them yet... Water skiing has always withstood the test of time. The more of us that promote it, engage our kids and our kids friends in skiing, tricking, barefooting, etc the better. Surf and Tube are 4 letter bad words in our house!
  6. @glydon my wife is on a 2016 SP. About the same skill level as your girlfriend. Its a very good ski. Stable but allows plenty of room to advance.
  7. Silver Salute....nah....too much like silver bullet. How about The Admiral
  8. high speed + night time + alcohol = _________ (you fill in the blank)
  9. Any ballers know who owns or manages the course on Crooked Lake in Indiana?
  10. @LoopSki was the yacht legal? seems awful fast for a channel. Pretty sure they are responsible for their wake and whatever damage they cause.
  11. I'll be happy to provide some feedback when I get them. Ordered several weeks ago from Miami SN only to find out they are back-ordered until late June/Early July. Checked multiple other sites as well. Must be popular, I guess that's a good thing
  12. @VONMAN ...where have you been this whole conversation! That thing is sweet.... Great ingenuity!
  13. @DynaSkiPete I agree slowing down a 300 much less twins is unlikely. Especially during long free skiing sets. The speed control comes into play during that ~900' when it counts. We are average slalom skiers (15-32off) and use a portable course. My boat has ZO but the other 2 we use are hand driven (both 351's with 285hp). When hand driving, we always time each set with a stopwatch and are very consistent at holding 16.8-17.0 times. We all score more buoys behind the hand driven boats. Not because the end time result is different, but what actually happens during that 900ft span. I really like the boats you produce and would love to come and ski behind one if given the opportunity. Northern WI is a bit of a hike for me.
  14. Nice boat with a very versatile wake. You guys will enjoy it. I always run my blower for 3-5min before starting and anytime we are idling for long periods of time. As far as tools, the basics will do. - 5 in 1 screwdriver (take the bit out and it fits right over hose clamp heads) - small crescent wrench - Leatherman multi-tool - a few zip ties - electrical tape - ibuprofen for that occasional OTF
  15. @FSSPCat you don't suck.....you are just like every other free skier that tries the course for the first time.....I like to call it education. We've all been there. Look at it a different way. Say you're really good at pick-up basketball games at your local YMCA or a pretty good golfer. Doesn't mean your ready for the NBA or PGA. With that said you will never forget the first time you round all 6! Its an awesome feeling!
  16. Well I guess I have been wanting my money all these years. I stopped at a couple different stations the last few times i filled up and looked around for a sign detailing the amount of ethanol. Several of them stated < =10%. We need an app that shows ethanol free fuel stations.
  17. 3 weeks? That's crazy and cool all at the same time. How long is your ski season? How long in between boats? How many different boats per season?
  18. @DynaSkiPete how far could $30k go on a 20 open bow family skier? Motor size and options with trailer. I think that's a realistic price that most would deam affordable when shopping for a "new" boat for skiing. Ski it again has 196's and MC 197's in about that price area and those always seem to move fairly quick. And they usually have anywhere from 500-1200 hrs on them.
  19. @LeonL , 2007 196. I've always run premium in my boats. Probably overkill, but i figure if I take good care of my engines they'll take good care of me.
