  1. @ToddL This is a very good point. It would help in most of the US. But where I live we are on a very small lake. Not much bigger than a private lake. It is limited to 18 boats but that at a time but that is a ton. I think no more than about 5 can operate at once safely and you can kiss your water goodbye with that many boats. The other lakes are pretty much open circles alot bigger but still super small compared to the midwest. There are no coves or anything to get away. It sucks but generally the people around here that have private lake memberships are generous with helping us less fortunate get some sets it. I am very appreciative of them.
  2. I would say for growing the sport I would like to see sports that take skill come back and to get rid of the huge water wrecking v drives. I mean even wake boarding takes skill and you will see at least at my lake wakeboarders lining up for one boat rotation trying to get good water. You wont see a surfer or a tuber doing that. I would like to see the water not becoming completely trashed so that people can try to enjoy skiing. Its not going to grow if the water is trashed all the time from surfing or tubing. I would consider our sport as slalom, trick, jump, barefooting and even nowdays wakeboarding. Its all sports that for the most part need or want good water. Thats my biggest thing it would grow but at my lakes the water is so trashed you cant do it.
  3. I do think it is important to get little tweaks/bandaid info also. I could use a little help with that
  4. Kinda wanted a bandaid cut it was 2 weeks before tournaments but yeah ive been working on it and skiing alot better
  5. Put courses in without permits. Just like skateboarders skating the streets.
  6. Chet was a great guy. Very nice and allowed some calls after the fact. Pretty much he just wanted me to straighten my legs everywhere. Pretty much just talked about gate pull out and turn in. It was good but was kind of looking for more tips like what to do to keep myself from stuffing the tip. Then if I dont get on the front of the ski I turn on the tail. How to get somewhere in the middle and a bunch of other small tips to help me kind of fix shorter term problems. He pretty much went at it like restart your skiing and you will be much better in the long run. So in short was it anything I have never heard no but it was kind of something I needed to hear in a persons voice to make me start working on it and stop thinking little changes was going to fix me.
  7. I need to get a couple more toe back and fronts down. But yeah the toe hold is hard for me to get into even with a large. The foot does not want to slide in and I have to wiggle it in. I dont use the barefoot handle and dont really want to ruin it either.
  8. So the reason it is low is because of all of you guys that skied in the 80s let your kids do what every they wanted haha. Just kidding a little.
  9. Plus take a look at prices. Whats a nice wakeboard cost 500 bucks idk. Whats a black slalom ski cost 1600. Even a decent open water ski will run you 7-800 by the time you get bindings. Most kids dont have that money. By me there is a ski lake that you pay by the set. Its like 35 bucks for 10min. It probably cost that much in gas to go wakeboard or surf 9 guys all day. (They do probably drink more than that in beer haha) Thats another thing all those other lazy sports you can do pretty drunk. I dont think I would go ski after 2 beers.
  10. Truthfully it pro bally will never grow much. People are just too lazy now days. Would way rather do something they can do with out any skill than go through the process of learning something. Everybody would rather surf with the handle or tube. Kinda sad really. I guess also why would you want to get serious at any 3 event sport or footing or even wakeboarding when the public water is just trashed from all the surfers and tubers. It gets bad enough where you cant even wakeboard. You gotta work too hard to get good water atleast where I live.
  11. If anything my pinner pulls too early and I maybe could save it but I would rather them pull. Have never had a tug at all. Just scary thats all I like knowing if I pulled really hard my foot comes out. But it kind of feels like I have to hold bend my foot to hold it in the strap.
  12. Thanks. I wear about a size 10 shoe. Maybe 11 depends on what im wearing. I do have a bit wider foot. What size strap would be best for me. My friend has a large and its not too hard to get into but not super easy. I used a small this weekend and was almost impossible to get into. Sometimes in the large though my foot seems like it can kinda twist sideways. Im not using the heel strap though. Still too nervous. Maybe I should just man up and put it on and trust my pinner.
  13. Do I have to buy a masterline handle? I found a strightline trick handle for 69 bucks but heard they are junk. Oh and got the toe back and front yesterday for the first time.
  14. What Kind of JB is this This is the kind I used is this correct. It says its water proof.
  15. Yeah im not really sure what I did. I know I fell to the side. Its not a really hard trick you just have to remember what you need to be doing.
  16. Got the toe back 2 nights ago and almost the toe front. I got turned around but slipped out. I have not got hurt yet. Its kind of scary though.
  17. Man I think I had a skiing epiphany this morning. I was bummed because Wednesday my hips were farther back than previously. So this morning I thought about keeping my hips up and thats pretty much what happened. Most of my pulls my hips were up. I think the key at least what I have noticed is getting enough water time and getting good enough that you can ski without thinking and just ski naturally. Then you have enough time to think about just one thing you need to work on. If you got to concentrate really hard on just turning without falling then pulling and being scared of the wake its too many things to think about when you add a technique change. Thanks guys for all the help.
  18. haha I did not notice the url on the top of the sign. nevermind then. Cool sign tho.
  19. May have been posted here already but found this on the chive
  20. Wanted to try a buddies new ski last night and it has a rtp. Ran my opener on it but it was the worst pass I have ever skied and made I think.
  21. Kinda makes sense but you dont see that in any other sport. Like in nascar. I suck at left turns can I make right ones.
  22. Claudio Piras for President!!! I know how he feels should have shot the boat gosh I hate those rollers.
  23. Wow I cant really believe it. Maybe it has something to do with I suck at skiing so it was easy for me to switch. Im lff so 2 is my off side. I remember pulling out and thinking it was weird for my turn in and 1 ball but then felt much better by 2 and it felt normal by the end of the set. Not that Im good now but I was way less good when I switched. At the same time I learned how to get up with the rope on the right side of the ski also. That was harder to learn forsure.
  24. I just think to myself. Wait just a split second longer than when I would think to go. If I do that Im perfect. If I go when I think I need to then im early. One thing I notice is in a tournament I start at 30mph. I have to go earlier at that speed than I do at 32,34 or 36. All of those speeds kinda seem the same. Usually on my 32 im close to being too early. Kinda like jump just cut later!
  25. I know it wont fix it either. But it could helps with maybe one or two kids a tournament. I personally dont want it to change I like skiing early.
