@Horton Southwest Texas State. We competed in the 1990 Collegiate Nationals in Monroe. It was the last time our team qualified for collegiate nationals when there were still just two teams per region in the tournament. Shreveport was a fun jump site with the whip into the 600'!

@horton this one is from late 80's. Champion Lake in Shreveport. Super cold day for collegiate jumping.

This guy has been improving a lot in the past 2 years. Unbelievably balanced and quick!

That first video cut out just as Duval took his first jump and the commentator alluded to Hazelwood, Roberge and Thurlow still on the dock. What a line up! Especially considering that Carrington and Bruce Neville already had jumped.

I got to be around Jay a good bit a long time ago. He always lead by example and showed us young college kids how to work hard. Forever grateful.

@Booze I wasn't there in '88 but my team (Southwest Texas State) qualified for Nationals in '90, hosted by NLU. It was awesome to go to Nationals back in those days because only 2 schools per region qualified - no D2. The video of the '88 Nationals brings back some great memories of the skiers, boats, skis and neon jump suits! Collegiate skiing was a great time and there was a lot of extra curricular activities at every tournament too! The jumpers we jumped on look like trick skis to me now! :D

Wake 5 on two skis is insane! Personally I found it harder to master all the surface and wake basics on two skis than on one. But, it was fun!

Another great podcast @Horton @TFIN ! I know time goes quickly and one thing I'd like to add to the Malibu recap is the Australian jumper, Jacinta Carroll put out jumps like 189, 190 and 191 and beat her nearest competitor by like more than 10 feet. She's must have won 40 events in a row now and those scores are awesome for 5 1/2 ft ramp.

3 friends on the lake competing with and razzing one another. Just happens to be 3 of the best skiers of that era. Awesome. Also hand driving a brendella? Looks like good times!

@SkiOrDie that's a big bummer. I'm always rooting for the Fred's. Had them both on my fantasy ski team along with the NLU skier Danylo. Glad Freddy was about and walking. I think my team will need some serious help tomorrow! ?
