  1. @lpskier that's Gary's place in Montverde. I'm heading there tonight for the weekend. Great place to get away and ski!!
  2. @Xpropman do you have a way I can look at your inventory online?
  3. @markn years ago I bought a two year old 7 series BMW from someone in Texas. I didn't think anything of having him drive to his local BMW dealer where I arranged for an inspection by their mechanic which I paid for. I didn't think this type of inspection would be acceptable for a boat, but I'm obviously wrong if the seller is motivated and willing to work with me.
  4. Great advice on this thread. Thanks everyone. As a Floridian, I do have a bit of an advantage with many ski boats to choose from, but the hours tend to be higher. I'm going to be patient and keep looking within the state.
  5. @LoopSki that's the kind of advice I'm looking for.
  6. I'm starting to look at boats. New boats are priced out of my league. MC dealer had a prostar for $140k. It does seem like the crazy used market is cooling a bit. More boats are hanging around on skiitagain and onlyinboards for several weeks. I favor MC Prostar, but would consider Nautique or Malibu. I would prefer a boat with low hours and good maintenance. How do you purchase a boat like this sight unseen? I'm in Florida, but what if there is an interesting boat in Wisconsin or Utah? How do I get that boat checked out? I presume there are shipping services for boats. Any idea on shipping costs? Lots of questions for such a major purchase. I'd like to hear some advice and stories about long distance sales.
  7. @Kwoody51 they did have 5 other massive MC wake boats in the showroom when I was there. Those were all priced more than double the Prostar. You have to be very wealthy to get into those boats.
  8. I'm not a current boat owner, but I've driven enough boats to realize that the fuel gauge is often inaccurate or broken. What is it with boats and fuel gauges? Seems like an important enough item to have working accurately!
  9. When I spoke with them about this boat, I was informed that there are very few upgrades. Base paint on this model saves several thousand. It does have the convenience package (both ski racks, bimini, cover), deckadence floor, and bow cover. Price quoted to me was $140k.
  10. I was just there looking at that boat. The price is insane and that's a boat with very few upgrades!
  11. Consider a carbon omni or a Connelly Carbon V. Both will give you a bit of extra width to get up easier at your starts with that boat and they both have plenty of performance for you to grow with.
  12. In enjoyed this one. Those factory settings were not randomly chosen and likely are the best place to start for the majority of skiers.
  13. I'm in Clearwater, just west of Tampa. It's painful here with no options since McCormicks closed. I'm eager to see what happens when it reopens. No clubs that I know of locally with a slalom course. We travel out to Jodi Fisher for great instruction. My daughter has also been to Kyle (ski fluid) which is a bit closer.
  14. Carbon V would be a great choice if you want to stay with Connelly.
  15. Incredible scene!! I'd love to see some video from a user like yourself.
  16. @208maverick Great news. Thanks for reporting back. I like my CarbonV, but I've been eyeing the Omni wide and also the Goode Wide ride as a potential next ski.
  17. Really good job by TWBC. I particularly enjoyed watching the boys and girls 1 and 2
  18. @Calhoun07 I've been wondering the same thing after I looked at a few lakefront homes here in Florida on private lakes without a course. I suspect you may need to inquire with all of your lakefront neighbors and get permission. The state may not even be involved. You may want to ask John Travers if he has any experience with this. I know he does some work here in the central part of Florida helping folks certify existing courses on private lakes.
  19. @jhughes I'm also curious about how the shock tube works and how it is supposed to help prevent significant recoil. Anyone have any comments?
  20. @208maverick Keep us posted with your impressions.
  21. 1/8" wider than your Carbon V may not make much difference. If you want to upgrade to a new ski you should go for an omni wide, but be prepared that your results may be the same. I bought a Carbon V because it has a reputation as fairly easy up.
  22. Nice boat. Do you have a photo of the original sticker listing price and options?
  23. Shout out to jesse at Connelly and @connellyskis for an incredible warranty experience. It's refreshing to work with a company that stands behind their product and values their customers. Connelly fan for life!
  24. Are you feeling it in your hip or lower back? I also ski a Carbon V. It's known as a pretty easy ski for deepwater starts. Light and fairly wide at the front. I've got a bit of a tweak in my back. I've evolved to an almost two part deepwater start. Have your driver gently ease the throttle forward for 2 seconds until your ski is on plane. Stay in that tight position with the rear of the ski under you. Then have them accelerate once the ski is out of the water and you can slowly stand. This requires a good driver who can peek back at you as you start.
