  1. Did someone say “Roadtrip”? @Dockoelboto I will mention your offer to the other members of the Wednesday night crew and see if we can make it happen. Would be great to come ski with another baller on a different lake! @Rednucleus what do you think?
  2. @Rednucleus you don’t know the half of it! Thanks to your wife we are refinishing all our wood floors, getting new carpet and tile in our master bedroom and closet, refinishing the cabinets in the kitchen and replacing our double ovens. Hope I can still afford to put gas in the boat this season? ski you soon I hope
  3. I didn’t mean to disrespect my current ski partners. Doug Ken and @Rednucleus are the greatest group of guys to ski and socialize with! So look forward to our time on the lake together and our ski trips to eastern Wa lakes. Just thinking of someone other then our inner circle to ski with. Sorry guys ?
  4. I apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed before. It is a nice sunny day here in the PNW and it got me to thinking about skiing. Heck I think about skiing when it’s raining too? Who would you like to ski with from the past and the present? Here are my 2 choices. Past My brother-in-law Danny Reichlin. He was killed in a vehicle accident on May 7 1999. He was only 36. He and I worked together for my Father-in-Law on his dairy farm. We would get our chores done and then head up I-5 about 20 minutes to lake Sammish. He was the one along with my wife who introduced me to slalom skiing. He had a 1977 16 1/2 ft Apollo with a 115 Mercury on it. He was an incredible skier and self taught barefooter. We would ski most every night during the summer till past dark. He skied on a Jobe Honeycomb. I can just imagine what he could do with today’s modern boats and skis. Not only was he a great skier but a great person! He cared about others and gave of his time every chance he got. Really miss this guy and think about him when my wife and I are skiing together Present hands down for me is @MarcusBrown this guy leads an incredible life. Produces the coolest videos out there FlowPoint TV. Travels to the neatest locations. Skis with the most interesting people. Promotes the sport to anyone and everyone especially the younger generation. My goal is to get him to come up to Wa state and ski with the Wednesday night crew this summer on Bow lake or if he just wants to free ski to ski on Big lake. He would have quite the experience joining us for one of our world famous Wednesday night seasons. Hopefully he would come hungry because the dinner after skiing is just as important. Who knows maybe we would be on a future FlowPoint TV episode?
  5. @MarcusBrown thanks for all the FlowPoint episodes. I really enjoy watching them. Can’t help but think what an awesome life you live! Your passion for the sport and what you do to get more young people involved is commendable. Would love to ski with you some day if you ever get up to Wa state. The Wednesday night crew would be honored to have you join us at Bow lake some Wednesday during the season. Thanks for all your hard work with the FlowPoint series!
  6. @UWSkier the plan for the electric boat would be to use it on our private lake for 2-3 hrs for the 4 of us to get in 2-3 sets each. When we want to go free skiing on the public lakes I will break out my trusty gas powered 2002 Sunsetter LXI. As far as a heater goes I need to do some more research because @Rednucleus won’t ski without one even in the summer?
  7. @skier2788 that thought crossed my mind since one of my ski partners @Rednucleus skis at Hilltop also. Then I talked to Ron of Pacific Nautiques at the Seattle boat show about outfitting a boat from the hull up. He said it would cost WAY TO MUCH $ and I would be better off using a donor boat. That is why I am going in that direction. Would have been cool to have a camo painted ski boat though ?. On a side not just met a guy who lives on Orcas Island Wa who builds electric boats in the style of the old wooden Correct Craft boats. Planning on picking his brain a bunch about this project! The more I research this project the more stoked I become ?
  8. @david_quail and @75Tique check out Flow Point TV 20.2 episode 1&2 @MarcusBrown interviewed Jenny Labaw about this very subject. Very interesting stuff from an expert
  9. @Jetsetr you are missing the whole point of this thread! The main reason I would like to convert a gas powered boat to electric power is to say I did it. Really want the challenge. The benefits of having a green boat are all icing on the cake. After reading the feedback on this thread I know it will take a lot of effort, know how and the biggest stumbling block of all $$$$. I plan on asking lots of questions of people that know about electric cars. Some people have already reached out with offers of help on this project. I didn’t expect this to be easy. After seeing the electric wakeboard boat that Nautique brought to the Seattle boat show and talking to a couple other venders that sold electric boat motors I thought Why not? I don’t expect this project to be easy or happen over night. And by the way I don’ even own a pair of Birkenstock’s, I don’t drink coffee or eat granola. I do wear a beanie on cold days to keep the old dome warm. Not as much hair on top anymore ? Just my thoughts
  10. @Pullhard if you will miss the sound of a V-8 just get a recording of one and play it on your 8- track while you are skiing/driving??? Seriously wouldn’t Zero Off work in an electric boat? Lots of questions left to answer but the list is getting shorter thanks to all of the responses ?
  11. @KRoundy not really interested in converting a wakeboard boat. The Wednesday night crew want to use the boat on our private ski lake for our Wednesday night skiing. Usually ski for 2-3 hrs so hoping we can get enough battery life for this. Like I said earlier this project is in the very early stages of research/development
  12. I know a retired Tesla engineer who opened up a used electric car / repair shop with his son. Will be checking with him about this project. Should be a great source of info and maybe parts. Stay tuned
  13. We are in the early planning stages of this project! Seeing the electric Nautique boat at the boat show kind of sparked an interest in us. We know that it won’t be easy or cheap that’s why l started this thread to get all the info we can. I know of an older Ski Nautique that can be bought for cheap to use as a donor so that would be a start. Still researching the electric motor and battery set up
  14. @Horton the Nautique was straight from the factory. Should have gotten pics but was too busy asking about the boat ☹️ We are thinking of using an older prostar or Ski Nautique as a donor boat and swaping an electric motor for the gas motor. Need to figure out the battery issues among other things. We need projects in our retirement?
  15. Saw an electric Nautique wakeboard boat at the Seattle boat show this week. This got one of my ski partners and me to thinking what would it take to convert a direct drive ski boat into an electric version. I remember seeing a thread earlier on BOS about an electric ski boat but don’t think it was a converted boat. Anyone have any info on this subject? My ski partner and I are up for the challenge. All we need is more info on the subject to see if it is feasible and or worth doing. We both are mechanical, have the shop space and the time. He is also retired from Boeing in the robotics department. Just thought it would be cool to have an electric ski boat on our ski lake. Thanks in advance for any info?
  16. @MuskokaKy Talked to the Malibu dealer and they have a Response at the dealership but decided not to bring it☹️ they said they don’t sell enough DDs to bother. Show was great lots of boats and exhibitors. Saw an electric Nautique wakeboard boat. One of my ski partners and I are researching converting an old DD from gas to electric. If anyone has any info send it my way it would be greatly appreciated ?
  17. The Wednesday night crew made it to the Seattle boat show yesterday. Started the day with breakfast at @Rednucleus, egg casserole killer blueberry coffecake lots of bacon?and Bloody Mary’s. Happy hour at the Pyramid brewery. Found time to see these 3 ski boats. No other ski boats at the show☹️ Lots of wake and surf boats. Nautique did have an electric wakeboard boat. Second greatest day of the year right behind the start of ski season. Had a good time spending the day with my 3 ski partners?
  18. Forgot to mention number 2 on my list. Wailua river on Kauai Hawaii. Saw the Flow Point episode by Marcus Brown and fell in love with the place
  19. My ultimate bucket list destination is ski paradise in Acapulco. Some day? Others that I would like to ski Hilltop lake Wa Warman lake Wa Radar lake Wa The Broho Wa Travers ski school Florida My favorites in Wa Lake Curlew 7.5 miles long glass like water most all day long. No other boats on the lake except for a few fisherman. The Republic brewery is only 10 miles away? Lake Entiat on the Columbia river in Wa there are 46 miles between dams and the water can be glass for miles. Super place to free ski
  20. @jimbrake the passing of Kobe Bryant is truly tragic. I was reading about the accident and came across this information about some of the other victims. Orange Coast College head baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and 13 year old daughter Alyssa who was a teammate of Kobe’s daughter Gianna. John Altobelli was the baseball coach at Orange Coast College for 27 years and posted a record of 705-478-4. He led the team to 4 state titles. He touched hundreds of young men’s lives and will be missed greatly. Just didn’t want his tragic death to be lost in all of this without a mention of what a great man he was. My prayers go out to all those who lost their lives and their families left grieving them
  21. Holy crap I guess when I make my annual trip to Lake Curlew I should be on the look out for Nick! If I run into him I will buy him a beer ? at the Republic brewery ?
  22. No problem with the Mystic beanie coming off. Just tighten the draw string. @Rednucleus and I have used this beanie a bunch without any problems
  23. @Justin @Rednucleus put me onto this beanie. It is made by Mystic and is made of neoprene. They have 2 sizes Small/Medium and Large/Xlarge. They work super at keeping your head dry and warm. They come with a draw string for any adjustments
  24. The private lake where I ski is very under used. Can go there most anytime of the day and ski. The public lake I use is a different story. During the summer months you have to be done by 10 am to avoid other boats that come out to wakeboard and surf (yuck) and destroy the water.
  25. For the past 35 years my wife and 4 kids have taken a week each summer and rented a house on the Columbia river near Wenatchee Wa. We spend the week skiing from dawn to dusk. The kids have brought numerous friends with them as well as having friends show up. I can’t count the number that have skied or wakeboarded (sorry?) for the first time behind our boat. Best week of the year by far being to spend time with the family. Now the kids have all grown up 3 of 4 are married and 2 have 2 kids each but they still want to come spend the week with my wife and me on the river. The kids all went through the wakeboard stage and wouldn’t touch a slalom ski. Now things have come around and they all slalom!? The rest of the year we ski on a public lake near us (Big lake) on weekends and some evenings after work. The past 6 years I have had the fortune to ski with 3 of the greatest guys. Not only are they great skiers but they are 3 of my best friends and all are super, caring and giving people . Just ask @Rednucleus .We rent 2 hrs a week at a private lake (Bow lake). We call ourselves “the Wednesday night men’s dinner club” we ski our brains out for 2 plus hrs then share a potluck dinner together. Best day of the week! My wife and I have always owned a boat and always will. Our current boat is a 2002 Malibu Sunsetter Lxi We don’t make a ton of money but make things work . Skiing is a big part of our life. From the family time to the friends we have met can’t beat this. Sorry for the long winded post. Got started and couldn’t stop?
