  1. @Rob no worries - you really need a fuel pressure gauge on the FCC to diagnose it is a fuel issue and then go from there. the other thing that it could have been was a blocked fuel hose - they do get soft and can "kink" easily. When it drops try and listen for the pumps working or not (low pressure) - that will rule that out. My mate waited for the issue to hit us - then turn the boat off and used a multimeter to check if the high pressure pump was running an "open circuit" or not to rule that one out. Not that I really understand enough to describe it to anyone else. He said he also can use a stethoscope to listen to the pumps running. I initially thought it was a fuel pump and was close to ordering an expensive part - in the end no parts needed. He actually figured out it was the tank by blowing back into the (inlet hose) fuel tank and he could tell it was restricted that way.
  2. @PatM Nope - good hey! My previous boat had the CATs and I found out the new owner had to put new risers in at a significant cost!! It was a 2015 built - perhaps an earlier engine? When did the CATs come into effect on these.
  3. I inspected the tank as much as I could and it looks very clean... I doubt this Aussie built boat had a sock. Thanks all. I’ll check coolant level although it’s hard to check levels when the engine is angled and the reservoir doesn’t adjust for it.
  4. Fixed. It was this little bugger stuck in the fuel tank pick up. The fuel pressure gauge proved it was fuel starvation, then my Malibu tech mate proved the fuel pumps were working so there had to be a blockage. Fuel tank out... fuel was clean... tried to blow down the intake pipe and it was restricted... poked a wire down and out popped this screw. It’s the one that use to hold the fuel filler lid to the chain stay...
  5. @Jody_Seal - thanks so much its a 2015 with 550hrs. Trying to get my hands on a fuel pressure monitor for the FCC. Good idea on the ignition - at one point it did feel like I had simply turned the engine off and back on again... Diacom - sometime this week... I just changed the fuel filter in the FCC and the screen looked clean as did the fuel hoses etc. Might go check the ignition now and re-check the FCC just to make sure.
  6. Thanks all. Getting a diacom reading tomorrow ?? Will try the fuel pressure idea. Thanks
  7. Hi all. My PCM 409 with 550 hrs has started losing power whilst underway... it feels like it’s starved of fuel but then it comes good again for a bit then it’s bad etc. I’ve changed the fuel filters and added new plugs. It’s still there. Any ideas?? I’m hoping it’s not anything too horrible like a cracked head etc.
  8. @RichardDoane Thanks mate - will do. And definitely beers are on me next time I'm in Seattle...
  9. Been there done that.... You WILL be back... might lose some flexion but not enough to worry you too much. Personally I took a slightly more conservative approach to coming back to skiing just to help me mentally. Rehab has to be a daily thing - I didn't rehab as much as should have and while my Achilles is strong as - I have lost too much flexion for my liking.
  10. Who won the skis? Anyone close to picking the men’s podium? I got the ladies but so did everyone else I bet.
  11. @JoelHowley, let’s get a 68 for me to re demo. I skied shocking that day on the 67.
  12. @bigtex2011 - sounds promising... was that on the stock tail? If you're getting tip pressure perhaps the round tail will help? Will be interesting to see - get some vid!!
  13. @jjackkrash - I was pretty spent to be honest by the time I tried it. I have this knack of wheeling my ski at times so I thought the round would exsaserbate that and that the square would help me - that didn't seem to be the case - I actually had a few really clean turns on the round - the ski seemed to slip a little more while still riding deep though. I actually found something good about all of them - to me that suggests that the stock will suit me. Perhaps as my technique improves a round will help - since that video I've actually started skiing a lot better so I'd love to try it again with some form. Get a video - I'm sure @JoelHowley would love to see you on each different tail - start on the stock then go to your preference... video your thoughts and send it to him or pm me with a dropbox or google link, and I can pass it on to him
  14. @jjackkrash - look forward on hearing how it goes for you - congrats on the purchase... what ski are you coming from?
  15. Tried it out yet @jjackkrash ? What tail are you excited about?
  16. I've skied it - I'm the tall heavy guy in Joels latest vids skiing terribly on a 67 and generally just clowning around having some fun on the water, which is easy to do with @JoelHowley. I actually found something positive about all three tail blocks - what I can say for sure is that each tail block makes a significant difference to how the ski performs. I was shocked at how different each one was - I can see this evolving over time as people experiment with different tails. I think it is a great idea - especially for someone like me - I'm 240+ pounds skiing long lengths with a hope of getting shorter soon - so as I get fitter, lighter and skiing shorter ropes I can then perhaps go from the stock to the round... Those vids of me skiing are pretty bad - haven't had a lot of time on the water due to covid and winter over here. Skiing a 67 took a lot of effort as well - more than I thought it would. I can't wait to try a 68 one day when I'm skiing more consistantly... I can say Joels knowledge about ski design and performance is next level - the guy can talk all day about the subject and why he truely believes in the Connell philosophy on ski design.
  17. I think your bad fall video is your best skiing - no doubt something hit your ski to make a sudden reaction like that occur. the other crash you had - looks like you just engaged the tip of the ski and broke at the waist and fell - I've done that heaps of times! Go ski - have fun...
  18. How does everyone train here - for me my best is 5@35 (13). So on a good day I run all the way through to the green and I'm happy with just getting there - then I might try it once more or drop back. However my bad days out weigh the good - so the question is when I miss say a 22 or 28 - what should I do - drop back a line length and repeat or try the same rope length - there are days where I'm missing 28 off even - mostly only once and then I do it again - but then I miss my 32!! I'm only getting out to ski probably once or twice a week and to be honest my body is lucky to last 6 full passes before its too tired to continue...
  19. Go back to 15 off - enjoy it. perhaps the extra speed generated is making you flatten off your ski and hitting the wake hard instead of on an edge... oh and a good way to really ruin open water skiing is to start using a slalom course as @Than_Bogan said - its fun...
  20. I'm excited about this innovation, I'm on a 68 - a bigger guy as @JoelHowley described so graciously as a "powerful" skier - lets face it I'm a bit overweight and the ski sinks the tail. Given that having an option to customise my ski to have a square tail would be great... @Stevie Boy not sure your negativity to having an innovative idea is fair - I get it if you fit the "norm" - then great use the stock tail... but lighter or heavier skiers will enjoy the customisation that we have not previously had. Think to the future - a ski that you can use a similar block to make it longer or shorter or flex differently?? Connelly - if you run with that idea - you're welcome...lol
  21. I made this one - took 20 mins... and I haven't missed the handle because of it, which was surprising - I'll be making them for all my crew and kids...
  22. @Chef23 thanks. Theres a few things to weigh up for me - 1 unfortunately has to be cost, then the other is safety. I still cringe at reflex's given how many skiers I have seen break ankles etc using one - plus pre-releases... . I personally use a MOB and love it so if I went the hardshell I think I would go that over reflex. The main issue with rubber binding is that they are so big on him - they come up his leg/shin a long way and he isn't big enough to flex his ankles forward. If I got a Wiley could I cut it down do you think? I tried to swap his boot over and it ended in tears so he back on his little obrien which for now seems ok.
  23. Hi all, looking for some advice on younger kids bindings - 8-9 yrs old. Any suggestions based on experience? FYI my son is getting into 30mph now (kids improve so quick!) Been looking at Wiley or Reflex, but I think for now I'm preferring a rubber boot - his foot is going to grow so fast.
