  1. Question: Bought a new top of line ski at worlds yesterday, mfg. name not important. When I mounted the front binder(reflex plate) I noticed that it was not centered. All of the holes are a 1/16 to the left so binder is not centered. Rear binder not so important as I rotate it a little any way. Do you think it makes a difference? I'm sure I can take it back tomorrow for replacement as I haven't skied it yet.
  2. She was taken to the hospital and I'm sure she was evaluated for a concussion as normal protocol in addition to her eye.
  3. I was at the tournament and I talked to a good friend of Whitney who told me that she was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She apparently had broken blood vessels in one of her eyes. She was disoriented in the water as she could not find the surface so it's possible she got a concussion. This is second hand information and I'm sure more will be known tomorrow.
  4. I wasn't suggesting to look the other way for Charlie and let him continue, I'm suggesting it's a rule that should be looked at. We already have a rule for class C where you can miss the gate on the first pass. (In a Class C or below tournament a skier who misses their entry gate on their first pass, but goes on to complete the remainder of the pass, may continue to the next pass or accept a score of zero. If the skier completes the next sequential pass (or opt-up pass), then he shall receive credit for both passes and be allowed to continue. However, if the second pass is not fully complete, then the score shall be zero.) There may come a day where this rule makes it to ELR tournaments. Also, there is a rule for slack at end gates and scoring. My feeling is as long as you exit in skiing position to the right of the left gate, what difference does it make?
  5. Makes me wonder if there should be a rule change as long as you are in skiing position for continuation and to the right of left gate at exit.
  6. Cut Charlie some slack,he's in the biggest event of his life, he's competitive, and he's young. We've all seen professional athletes, college athletes etc. who have exercised frustration in the spur of the moment. He'll learn from it.
  7. Still don't understand the reason for classification of "series"? There are 6 men skiers in Series 9, why, does each series get an award? There are a total of 92 men slalom skiers, Why not just say half ski on Tue and other half on Thur.? I get the seeding relationship, just not the label.
  8. I'm with @APB , need a part of 3 to make the cut.
  9. @lpskier. Mechler same hand similar injury? At Malibu open?
  10. Wonder if most of the ski companies will have booths set up, as well as Performance Ski, etc.? Need to get some new stuff!
  11. @skimtb , I'm also on a 2017 67in. vapor and want to go up. I'm still debating on year 21 or year22. Some good deals on the 21's. I'm going to the worlds to watch and see what people are skiing on.
  12. Lake Ola course would be John Henn's course. I believe you would need to be a property owner to have access, not a public lake.
  13. @Killer, we understand the rule. The question is would the skier that skied two days prior have to go out at 39 off without a warm up?(assuming 41 off was the tie). If that is the case then what @AdamCord said might be a solution.
  14. You could add a new loop on either side of the worn loop.
  15. @Bruce_Butterfield : Exactly! I realize this is a "what if", just wonder how it would be handled? I suspect that the 2 or 3 at 41 is where there will be some ties.
  16. Example: Charlie Ross is in group 4 and skis Tue. This young lad is capable of 2 or 3 at 41 on a given day.. What happens if he can get a tie score for a run off since he skies on a different day? For the record, I would love to see this kid do exactly that!
  17. @klindy , I get the procedure, but wonder about ties, especially if some one who skis on a different day puts up a score that ties with someone two days later. I know it's highly unlikely, but possible. If there is a tie out of groups 1-3 they could can immediately have the run off. What would happen if a group 4 person has a tie score who skied two days prior? If a tie only exists from groups 1-3 then I assume the run off begins after the last skier of group 1?
  18. Is it one round best score gets to the finals? What about ties? Suppose a skier from group 4 through 7 throws up a big score? How many make it to the finals? Sorry for all those questions, is there a place that explains all of this? My questions are regarding slalom.
  19. @Killer , yes I was paying attention at Nationals and Malibu open, and it looked like several women and men were still on the 21 graphics.
  20. Confused on description of the 22 vapor. On the Radar website the product description for year 22 and year 21 are the same, namely, both are more narrow than previous year. I thought the 22 was wider than the 21? Also, most of the pros are still on the 21 model, wonder why? I'm on a 2017 vapor and would like to go with either the 21 or the 22, just not sure which to try.
  21. What is the difference between E, L and R? I skied lots of R'S back when I chased records and the old EP'S.
  22. But look how well your driver kept it right down the center!
  23. @ghutch , Jim has passed away and my comment was on a one time situation that occured many years ago and should not reflect on his many contributions to the skiing community. I was just taken by the fact that I pulled his two kids for about an hour for free and then got charged for a ski set. I moved on from it quickly and skied may tournaments at his lakes.
  24. In addition, Jim McCormick asked me if I would pull his kids tricking. I did, didn't ask for any money in either case, just happy to do him and Bob a favor. However, when I moved to Fl I went down to Jims for a ski ride and he charged me $40.00,that was the last time I went there!
  25. @swbca : It was in 1985 and I was the one who took Bob out to the lake along with Lucky Lowe. Gordon Rathburn asked me on Friday if I would be willing to give Bob a ride on Sat because his ski was lost and had a new one coming overnight. It was an awesome experience and I believe it was my second Nationals. When we got out on the lake, Bob took out a file and started rasping the edges of the ski. He'd go ski a set, come back and use a little sand paper and skied again. He didn't run 38 in practice but was getting 4 or 5 bouys. I believe Roberge won that nationals and Bob got second. I was living in S. Il at the time and moved to FL in 1986. When I got to Fl Lucky invited me down to his lake to test the new LaPoint Pro. I tested skis several days and the last day Bob gave me a new ski to keep. Great fun and experience. I had a 1980 mastercraft and Lucky drove Bob and was he ever working that throttle!
