  1. You can't go wrong with a Senate with Vector bindings. Either the Graphite or Alloy. My husband gets on his Senate when he is a "little" heavy, says the starts are so much easier than other skis. He has the Graphite, skis the course with it and says it is awesome for free skiing, it doesn't get bounced around like a high end ski.
  2. Can you find some contacts from the tournament schedule?
  3. Looking good! Isn't it great when you know you made the right choice? We bought a used 2003 SN 196 several years ago after getting tired of shared boats in our lake's boat club. We are on our 5th summer and no issues except routine maintenance.
  4. Pull! pull hard all the way to the ball, don't start your turn until you are wider than the ball! Push hard on that back foot when doing a deep water start. (When I was a kid from my sister's ex-a$$hole)
  5. Dream Lake Estates, this was from last summer, but we finally had some calm weather this past week.
  6. Can't go wrong with a Senate, everyone I know that has skied one, loves it.
  7. @h2o.nhk, the straps are easy, we leave the back ones attached, pull up the bimini, and hook the front ones. It will vibrate some if the wind hits it just right. I couldn't find a picture of ours, I'll take one next time we are at the lake.
  8. @TEL, you just reminded me of when our nephew started skiing with us. He held his elbows to his vest, bent at the knees, butt sticking out. His form looked like T-Rex taking a dump! My back hurt just watching him! It took awhile to break the bad habits that were taught to him by his dad.
  9. We put a Westland from skidim.com on our 2003 Ski Nautique, it looks pretty good and comes in a good selection of colors. We did some digging around for pictures to find the best looking mounting position. We let ours sit on the engine cover when down, it could also sit in front of the windshield, our cover fits better this way.
  10. I'll have to try the patch. How will the wax on my iron affect my ski glove?
  11. Hoping my current slump was just a fin out of position... My new ski WAS feeling great! The last 2 times on the water, it was awful. The first time wasn't sure if ski or rough water, the second time I was on glass and ski felt like it was going through mud. Checked my fin last night and it was out of place! I know some people mean well when offering to carry your ski to the car, or out of the boat, but it usually results in the ski getting banged on something...
  12. One of my favorites in Clear Lake Iowa, Loren riding the skurfer in front of the carnival on the 4th. We always had "old toy day" each summer, we brought out the skurfer, Connelly Hook, original Hyperlight, etc... Sometimes I miss the fun on a public lake, then I go run a few passes without rollers and remember why we sold it!
  13. @ms! It was you? Those would be even more discusting than speedos.
  14. When I started skiing in tournaments, I was warned that the southern Canadians all wore speedos....
  15. @UWSkier, we want to put up stadium lighting since the only time the wind goes down it is dark! @Live2ski, +10 on that 15mph.
  16. It just won't let up in Iowa! We had a CROSS wind today that caused whitecaps. Ugly.....
  17. @MS, I've got my old D3 Z7 ST for sale, 66", I think from 2010. Asking $225, that price was in the middle of like skis on ski-it-again. I also have a pair for Radar RS-1s, size nine, they've seen better days, but are still functional. I think they need some footbeds.
  18. @abski, the reason I chose the Vapor over the Senate is due to length. I like a 66" ski, and the Senate only comes in 65" and 67". With my weight and ability, I was right in the middle of the size chart. I really didn't want to go back to a 67" ski, this is what I used when learning the course. I always had to mess with the fin to make a 67" turn. I thought getting a 65" would negate the extra width of the Senate. I went with the Graphite knowing that at my age, I really don't push it anymore and thought the Lithium might be overkill. I just go out and enjoy running the course and the speeds/length I know I can handle, and ski smoothly. Also, the price was great! I might have changed my mind if I lived somewhere that was convenient for demoing skis....
  19. My husband and I both switched from Approach to RS1/Vapors, it was an easy transition. AND no more worrying about not coming out on a crash!
  20. I'm female, a little older.... I just bought a Radar Vapor Graphite, and am loving it! Very forgiving ski and seems faster than my old D3. The Graphite is supposed to be more forgiving and softer flexing than the Lithium, which you might prefer if skiing 34 and more aggressive. I also had an HO Truth, you will be very impressed with the new skis, you probably won't be disappointed with any of them.
  21. @ms, we just got our boat in last Sunday (dock work). But could only think of 2-3 days that would have been skiable prior to that. We did get 3 days in this week before the upper 90s with 30+ mph winds. Really glad I didn't commit to skiing with Parrish this weekend.... Although Clearwater should be better than Dream Lake.
  22. @skijay, glad you mentioned the wing, I started to ski without one several years ago. Couldn't believe the extra speed, it allowed me to start my turn earlier. Thx
  23. I am using the spacer washers on the front and back. Guess I like a little more flex, also why I went with the Graphite instead of Lithium. Thanks!
  24. @Kellen417, good point. I also ditched my higher performance ski and went with a wider ski to learn the course. It really made a difference! Wish I had listened to a friend a couple years earlier...
