  1. I don't think there is such a thing as the conversion depends on your non-slot calipers. I just found a friend who had some Slot calipers. Measured fin with both and calculated the difference. Now if I want to convert standard Goode numbers I know the conversion for my calipers. DFT will be pretty close. Length is the biggest difference, mine are about +0.060" diff from Slots.
  2. @Buxrus don't take offense. You just happened to ask about a topic that was very contentious, and I think for many, is still a sore subject. Your initial post was on point. The actual reasons why it's required are lame.
  3. @jimbrake seismic creep is also a synonym for a doodlebugger.
  4. What @Broussard said. I've more than had my fill of this.
  5. Who gave @Stevie Boy two WTFs? Not every ski is for everyone. Jeez, lighten up!
  6. Regarding rope life I think ML recommends a rope is good for about 50 sets. That's a bit more than 3 ropes per year for me. Too bad my budget only allows for 2.
  7. I have enjoyed more than anything else hearing peoples stories of how they started skiing. From the stories I've heard it's a kind of regional thing. Most of the people from an area have similar stories. I've started asking people how/where and who they started skiing with just because I enjoy it. Lots of cool stories out there. Thanks for these.
  8. The two tournaments I attended this spring were down. One went from Sat/Sun to Sat only due to low numbers on Sun.
  9. Just listened to this yesterday and I have questions @TFIN . The stuff you discussed at the beginning of this episode is good but not easy (for me) to wrap my head around. What I think I understand is that by moving ahead of your ski, or ankles, the ski will accelerate. I think for this to be true the ski needs to be turning, or engaging the tip. Do I have this right? I think it was implied in the discussion due to where in the course you are discussing this but not stated explicitly. I think this is consistent with the bike analogy you gave. I know it is true for skateboarding and surfing. If you move ahead of your ski (or ankles) going straight down the lake I don't think the ski will accelerate to support you, Right? Another question is what direction is the acceleration? I think you mean the ski will accelerate to move underneath the skier since the skier is moving forward of their ankles. If this didn't occur you would just fall forward. In the same segment you were talking about edge change and how this technique allows the ski to come through. This could also be an acceleration of the ski "through" the skier (from nearer the boat to further from the boat relative to the skier). In truth, if I understand this correctly, the acceleration would be both forward and slightly away from the boat with respect to the handle. You've explained this to me in lessons before and I never fully understood. This seems pretty important so just trying to finally "get it".
  10. All joking aside, that SurfingMafia dude is CRUSHING it.
  11. I know it's not statistically meaningful but I've seen three broken ankles in my waterski career and all were on reflex style release. So that's a pass for me.
  12. I want to say the correct cable length is something and a half in length. Most generic vendors offer lengths in increments of a whole foot.
  13. Get the most mechanically sound boat. They'll both ski great.
  14. I'll be in New Iberia the next couple days. Anyone skiing at Sugar Lake? I might be able to travel further North but will probably have some relatively long work days, so closer to NI is better. Trying to decide if I should take my gear. Thanks.
  15. I'd guess which foot forward when you ski has more to do with what happened when you learned to ski than any other factor.
  16. This has come up before and as I recall there is no obvious correlation between handedness and foot forward. I write left handed, ski left foot forward, skateboard right foot forward, throw/bat right handed.
  17. That's a great marketing gimmick Masterline has.
  18. @dbressel do you know why it's dry? Availability of water, new owners not skiers so don't pay to pump, ...?
  19. I went 12" after an arm through handle injury. Noticed no downside from a skiing perspective. Is it really safer? Possibly, though just marginally if at all. Do I feel better knowing the hole in the bridle is smaller? Yes.
  20. Very much. I rode and loved the T2 I bought from Andy. Unfortunately it broke down and I had to work out a warranty replacement with Radar. The new ski didn't work at all with the old settings. Changes on layup I guess. @brooks was helping me and asked for video on the new ski. I don't remember the exact numbers but he had me change length by over 30 thou. End up running my best score ever on that ski. I would have never made an adjustment like that on my own. Setup help can be key.
  21. @Horton thanks. Not sure how I missed this one the first time around.
  22. It's a little like fin measurement; Tips, Jaws or Slot. How the measurement was made is important.
  23. @skierjp what instructions? The website says "Measure from the bottom of the front boot to the tail of the ski." https://radarskis.com/bootplacement
