  1. I may be missing something but what efforts are any of the big three making to produce a ski boat that fits budget for average Joe?. Business models and company growth has followed the $$ and left waterskiing without affordable new boat options. How much are we willing to pay for something that we use for recreation 6 months per year? No doubt the new boats are state of art in form and function, but on the other end of rope where the fun happens not that much different. Evolution of boat design has created some great hulls, add reliable power and could this could be something great for our sport. Just my thoughts.
  2. How much actual “hard science” concerning waterski design/function actually exists? Does actual hydrodynamic testing actually take place? Seems that the history of waterski design is one of reverse engineering, modification, and testing, testing, testing.
  3. My thought was that if a ski was adjusted from 90 degrees relative to the top, there could be some sort of asymmetric resistance to tail slide as discussed in hortons video. Would it be a useful difference, I don’t know.
  4. What would be downside of a fin that was adjustable from 90 degree axis
  5. @cacman I used 1/8” thermoplastic material that is sold and used for orthopedic splints. - I made a template to make a rough cut-out. - Placed in hot water to soften - Formed on boot in forward flexed position - Cooled using ice cube - Trimmed and finished - Attracted with (2) 3/16 large head rivets. About 20 min project
  6. Anxious to give this a try in the spring
  7. Not sure if the Concept or 5 buckle vest but certainly on my list.
  8. An interesting extension to this discussion would be the question whether all skis could be performance enhanced with “shape tuning”?
  9. @SkiJay as most front and rear bindings are mounted independent of each other, How does a change of binding spacing fit into mix? For example would moving back binding back one hole be similar to moving front binding back .1 inch?
  10. All youth sports now extend past competitive season. If your kids want to play, add club sports to the mix. Another drain on $ and TIME for families. Certainly is a different time we live in. Not bad, just different
  11. @Horton For a skier at say 28-32 @34 vs the shorter lines lengths, do you think that long-shallow vs deep short has any noticeable advantage. As a skier I have always wondered whether recommended settings were dialed in for 85 or 68 degree water?, Double boots, or RTP. Line length? I'm surprised that settings for different length skis are often the same? Or does it matter?
  12. We don't know each other but I read and appreciate each of your posts. Your strong survivor spirit is evident to all. Waterskiers are special. Best wishes and prayers.
  13. "More and more about less and less until everything is about nothing". Hats off to Denali for introducing something really different. For me an endless pursuit of finding something that works for me. My metric is simply what ski is funnest to ride. Thanks to all ski companies for your efforts!
  14. Oregon fall morning, 4 runs from one end of lake to the other. Water 54. Air 58
  15. @AdanCord how much will a 68 support @ 34 mph
  16. @horton big like the s2 67.5?
  17. The one thing that has improved my skiing more than anything was spending 19$ and joining TrainwithTerry.com. Skiing is a package deal, COM, stack, connection, shoulders, fall, edge change, eyes etc..will accomplish nothing alone. Terry's training videos are the best that I have seen. They are short, focused and have given me the mental picture to assemble the puzzle. Watch them over and over until your mind can get ahead of the game. Just my opinion
  18. Hey guys, I've been pretty much a Joe skier for the past 50 years. Not a member of the hard core baller group but solid member of the addicted. Want to give two thumbs up to what Terry has going with his new venture trainwithterrywinter.com. I joined yesterday and the first video I watched on Staying Connected was amazing! So good that it should be required viewing along with Butterfields Handle control article for any aspiring skier. q&a section is solid and terry is exceptional at getting a clear message across. Can't wait to get some video to him for a look. Just sayin this is a great thing he has going!!!! Joe
  19. 1973 "Mike Suyderhoud " Western Wood" Mach 3, Connelly white smooth foam vest. Bought with money made from my summer job. First $'s of thousands that I've spent enjoying the sport and supporting the industry.
  20. A few swipes with wet/dry sandpaper on edge to smooth will help as well
  21. @Horton Do you consider the HO CX superlite to be a member of the Mid Range group?
