  1. Horton, Everyone gave me s#%t about my balance bracelet. I swear by it. It broke the last outing before Nationals. Everyone said it was a crock. I then proceeded to bust my %ss on the platform. I put it in my board shorts pocket where it remains today. Needless to say, I have been wearing the same shorts for a month. No more %ss busting on those micro Nautique platforms either. As for 6balls: 1. Ibuprofen, 2. Beer, 3. Don't take up jumping, 4. Ibuprofen, 5. Ice, 6. Did I mention Ibuprofen? ( For once, MS is right)
  2. I've learned that Horton is right, MS is wrong!
  3. After 53 years, I went to a rear boot instead of a kicker. I learned that I still prefer the kicker, but these short set ups require a rear boot. At least I did not fall getting up at the Nationals.
  4. I like em' all. Horton is right. MS is wrong. (always) Jody and I get to drive em' all. The 196 was a great ride providing it had a windshield that opened. Otherwise when driving tricks, it was like putting you in a pressure cooker. One of my ski buddies bought an 08 and we told him up front, he wouldn't get pulled with his boat without a windshield that opened. He wants to sell his stock windshield because he listened. MS, time to take up jumping. We'll teach Mrs. MS to drive. Nautiques, MC's, Mal's, Cent's, whatever. The old response LX was a great ride. The bigger boats are easy to re-sell. You obviously are a private lake dude. Go to the "Big" Lake with 5 skiers, skis, coolers, surfboards and other water toys in a 196 or closed bow anything. Take 2 sets each and hang out all day. No dock to put your gear on, just "Lake People" and a boat. Bigger is better! Jody, the roll bar helps the resale and bangs your head occasionally. I guess if we skied on a private pond and were not "Lake People" just" people that go to the lake", we'd have a bare bones lake tractor, but we don't and bigger is better! Come on down to the "Big Lake" and swerve with us! Maybe just free ski and hang out. It'll take you back to "What brought us here"! Ask Sully, Wade, Marcus or any of the guard, they'll tell you! (you really don't need to take up jumping). "If you're gonna be dumb, you'd better be tough"!
  5. I HEAR THE 6.0 IS THE WAY TO GO!
  6. We have a 6 pass or 2 fall rule when people are waiting to ski. I usually run 5 or 6 the first set and 3 or 4 the second set. Never ski 3 sets. There is a desired time between sets. I don't think it does ant good except in the early part of the season to ski mega sets. Early on we'll run back-to-backs. Usually 10 28's. The normal set at our club is 28,32,35,work on 38 a few times for the first set. The second set usually is 32 or 35 and work on 38 a few times. Then relax with a cool one. If you are skiing with less than 30-45 minutes between sets, you are probably breaking down and reinforcing bad habits. If you ski after work at night, don't ski early the next morning. You need at least 12 hours between sessions.
  7. I love Jack. I met him in 1968 at my first Nationals. He saved me and earned me a MII National slalom title in 1981. I had taken a 175' face plant at the Shreveport tournament the week before. My ribs hurt to breathe, sniff, ride in a car and just move. I went to the Nationals and Jack gave me a shot of novacaine or something. Heck, I couldn't feel them for an hour and voila! slalomed well. I love jack!
  8. I have been on mine since the end of March and love them. I pulled the bungee out the front of the laces and tied a knot, reducing the excess amount that protrudes from the top. I never adjust them and Love them. They will loosen up a bit. The cinches that D-3 provide suck. Just tie a knot in the top bungee.
  9. I got a massage from the girl at the lake too. Good $20 spent. Damn jump crashes. It is about competition and hanging out with your buddies. Some you only see once a year.
  10. Man, I am jealous. I may be old but I love it!
  11. Hmmmm! Where is this slalom hole? Got beer/will travel.......maybe! At least I would do better than Horton and not have to drive hours for a case of Budweiser1
  12. At the 2010 Southern Regionals I saw a little girl sitting in her dad's car crying. I walked up and asked "what's wrong"? She told me that she hadn't ridden out any of her jumps. I got her attention and said to her that it was a "great day". That turned her head and prompted her to ask "why"? I told her that "It's a great day any time you can go to the lake and go water skiing". I proceeded to get a smile and the tears went away. Any day you can go to the lake and go water skiing is a great day, especially when you are surrounded by good friends that share the same passion. I have been skiing for 53 years and love it more each year. And yes, I agree with Sully's buddy. I know that there are only a finite number of jumps and slalom passes left in me. I can't wait for the next ones.
  13. Sorry fellows. It is COMPETITION. Throw out the 3 round, perfect site tournaments and play the hand you are dealt. If the conditions are equal for the entire division, it is fair. There have been MANY Regionals and Nationals with huge divisions that have 3 sets of conditions. The early overall crowd gets glass, the middle packers get s#%&t and the top seeds get good stuff. If it is the performance that you are worried about, sorry. It is fair if it is the same for all. Oh yeah, that includes everyone skiing behind the same boat.
  14. Shallower and longer than stock. No rudder stall at all.
