    Skis

skis don't kill buoys, skiers do.
  3. Thank you, good stuff, "elbows on my vest" from wake to buoy changes alot of things easily, will try these others too.
  4. will give that a whirl, thank you.
  5. I have found the concept of "pinning my elbows to my vest from the wake to the buoy" to be super effective, does anyone have a good tip for what happens after that.....along the same thought line?
  6. Our friend got a Malibu lxi (06 i think) and the perfect pass screen kept blacking out while skiing, we called someone and we paid 400 bucks for a new module.....still blacks out. Anyone know what to do?
  7. Hi, 170lb skier rff, 34.2 mph, thru 32 off most of the time, a couple at 35 67 inch 2007 nomad rc front boot 29.5-30in depth 2.51 length 6.93 dft with needle style measurement .77 ski feels good, skis very nicely when i pay attention, but i think i am experiencing a slight stall in the apex of the turn, is this possible? I rarely mess with my fin but I am thinking the fin needs to go forward. Right when the ski is parrelell with the course in the apex it seems to just sit there and go down course before finishing the turn, especially on my onside.
  8. What adjustments can be made to PP that simulate ZO?
  9. 2 questions: 1. Do all the letter, number, and boat combinations make a difference? 2. If all I have to practice with is PP classic, what do I choose at a tournament?
  10. Hi, could someone take a sec to help me with what these numbers might mean to me? 2007 Nomad RC 67" tip 153 fwd 131 mid 92 tail 69 I weigh about 173, ski 34, with an average score of 1@ 35 off will also take any fin setting advice as well, thank you.
  11. I believe Goode uses the same design but are a little more $$.
  12. Whats up Adam, I've never tried it, I don't feel New England summers give us enough "wiggle room" to play with stuff as much as other people, however, I have heard of alot of 55k skiers who perfer to not have one when skiing. I heard it gives you more speed (obviously).
  13. Our first sets of the season are pretty cold here in NE, so we take it easy to avoid injury and ski another day. I like to free ski a little in the beginning so I can "listen" to my body without the constraints of buoys.
  14. Hi, MRI report did not display any fractures, orthopedic stated I had a couple slightly bulging discs and prescribed some PT. I will buy these books, and I will thank you all again for your advice and support. I am not going to Fla. in Feb., gonna try for April, obviously will focus on getting myself into good shape with a nice strong back. Oh yeah, MRI did show one thing that was wierd.....I only have one Kidney!!! (this is true)
  15. Thanks for the help guys, just got back from MRI, will bring the pics to the Doc on Tuesday.
  16. I did go to a PT place for a foot strain, and it helped immensely, i just checked and they do have sports PT, and they did work with my foot manually too.
  17. Thank you. Should I even bother with an MRI? I think I will skip the Fla. trip and "ski another day" as they say, thank you again guys. -Alex
  18. Hi, Just got back from an Orthopedic Doctor who X-rayed my back to diagnose lower back pain. He said I may possibly have a small compression fracture in a disk. He is scheduling an MRI and said I may possibly need to talk to a Neuro-Surgeon, depending on what appears on the MRI. I was hoping to go to Fla. and ski from Feb 10th to the 16th, but Doctor said I should at least wait for the MRI if not take the whole winter off from skiing. That was pretty much all he could tell me, if anyone whom frequents this invaluble resource for slalom skiers has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Hi, I live on cape cod, mass. I know we have relentless winters, and sometimes short summers, but we have all these frickin cranberry bogs, some are dried up, they look like ski lakes filled with cranberries. I can't help but think about dredging one out, filling it with water and ripping on my own private lake. Anybody know if this is possible? I only flip burgers, but I ski with lots of contractors, builders, and such.
  20. The videos are in the VIDEO category, under "will asher at INT nats" And yes, he demonstrates quite an edge change. Word on the water here at BOS is that edge change is one of the most key things to execute in order to ski like a badass. There is much dicussion of it and I have been working on it all season. I find that, as I rip ass across the wake, when I slice thru the second wake into open water just before I look for my mark at the buoy I give my elbows a nice firm push into my vest and try to let the handle get near my butt. I don't know how it works, but when i make this certain effort I change edges without losing any speed....which means, at this very point, if I aim my ski "outbound" I get seriously wide and feel very stable and in control which I am just getting used to. Also working on the "progressive" lean into the wake. Stay tuned for that one, I'm still workin on it.
  21. cool, posted 32-39 off in videos
  22. 35 off 38 off 39 off I will add 41 off tomorrow
  23. I have some ok footage of will going 32 off to 1.5 @ 41 in arvin, would anyone be interested in seeing it? Is it cool to post it here or do i need his or johns permission or anything? Lemme know. -A
  24. Thank you, very interesting. If the most angle you can get on your hardest cut is 60 degrees, what is the least amount one needs to be early enough to make a pass comfortably? 50? 45? Sounds like I'm on the right track at least, would like to see a scale drawing of a course and the coordinates of a skier getting a perfect gate.
