  1. Yes, the Taylorsville Lake ski course is excellent. I skied there last week, the first time in several years. There are buoys in front of the large cove the say "ski course" which sort of act as a no wake zone to some boats.
  2. @Onside135 Here is a link to the information you need: KY ski clubs and ski sites. The last two on the list will be of interest to you. Taylorsville Lake is a public lake around 30 minutes from Louisville, and I am guessing Stillwater is also around 30 - 45 minutes. @LeonL can provide more information about his site in Stillwater. I live in Lexington and the closest ski courses are around an hour away which are those two sites (Taylorsville and Stillwater), plus Williamstown Lake which is an hour north of Lexington where I have a lake house.
  3. Great color selection.
  4. I use the Syndicate Omni and can highly recommend it.
  5. I have been using the MOB system for a month now. Mike @mmosley899 was great at answering all of my questions both before and after purchase.
  6. That boat has been for sale on ski-it-again since last October.
  7. @bananaron -> "These boats are like girlfriends you love them however there is another one around the corner......" :D
  8. @ReallyGottaSki Where did you purchased the elbow in your last photo? I am very interested in this setup as well since we have been skiing almost every morning this summer. While our course is in a cove with no houses, at one end we have to turn around in the rather narrow main lake in front of the same houses. I want to get ahead of any possible noise complaints. [There is already a current uproar on our lake about surf boats and their huge wakes.] I will take some measurements on my 1998 SNOB exhaust, and would like something to just clamp on without removing the flap if possible.
  9. @ReallyGottaSki Did you keep the flappers in place or take them off?
  10. I have all two-ski skiers (kids and adults) get into the water first before putting the skis on. If they are true beginners, I get on the platform and hold the tips of the skis for stability while they learn to place their feet into the bindings. Most soon learn to put the skis on in the water by themselves.
  11. @OKSkier What helmets (brand/model) do the five skiers in your group use?
  12. @pregom With blood steaming down my forehead, I wanted to be polite so I asked my ski partner if he wanted to ski his set. He had driven an hour to the lake and had not skied yet. Since he works at the VA hospital and is much wiser than me, he respectfully declined. :D
  13. @chrislandy That seems to be a good option that I did not consider. Once you get the $800+ bill from the hospital (after insurance pays it part), it makes you think about using one.
  14. I took a bit of a tumble in the course around five years ago resulting in my ski slicing a nice sized gash on top of my head. The emergency room physician used eight staples to close it up. I researched helmets for a while looking for a very low profile one that would not grab water upon falling, but did not find one I liked. Not sure if I would have actually purchased and used one, though. I am hoping that injury was just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. :D My only concerns while driving myself to the hospital were (1) when will I be able to ski again? (one week) and (2) I hope they don't shave a big bald spot in my hair (which they didn't).
  15. There is no way I could put a dollar value on that. It's great that you are giving him the ski now.

    Wet Boat Carpet

This might sound like overkill and a lot of trouble, but it works great for me. I place cheap cotton towels on the carpet, covering almost the entire floor. On top of the large towel at the back, I place two rubber backed "welcome" type mats to catch most of the water from the skiers getting into the boat. The towels on the floor on both sides of the motor box catch water from skis, boots, gloves, and jackets. After skiing, pull it all out and place into the sun to dry or into the clothes dryer if I am in a hurry. I find that this takes care of at least 95% (seems like more) of the water that would have been in the boat, and I can put it up almost dry. I have it down to a routine, so it is just part of cleaning the boat after each use. Never had a problem with mildew or odor in my 22-year old boat. My boat is kept covered on a lift. You will be surprised how soaking wet a thin cotton towel can be and the carpet underneath can be nearly dry.
  17. I just switched from double Radar Vapors to the rear HRT Boa; easy transition. When on the ski platform and in the water it feels (and is) looser than what I am used to. But once up and running, I forget I am even using an HRT. Much easier to get into and out of. This morning I had the first opportunity to place my rear foot back in while still in the water after an easy fall. Just popped the Boa dial, slid in my foot and dialed it back tight; relatively easy.
  18. Just ordered some glove box shocks myself. Thanks for the ebay link. Hopefully these stronger shocks will last a lot longer than did the previous ones.
  19. Thanks @Windsurfnut and @BraceMaker The makes the upgrade more appealing.
  20. @GaryJanzig What about changing from a 32mph speed pass to a 34mph pass without stopping?
  21. Will the SG w/Z Box upgrade allow for bumping the speed up or down after exiting the gates without stopping? My ski buddies and I do not drop at the ends, and will run four to eight passes without stopping. [Public lake so you want to grab the good water before a wakeboard boat passes by.] I am thinking about getting SG w/ Z Box for my 98 SN GT-40; currently have PP DigitalPro.

    Boat house lift

@RAWSki I have not measured, but the dimensions @Bruce_Butterfield provided were close to what I was going to guess.

    Boat house lift

I second what @Bruce_Butterfield recommended. I am very pleased with my boatcradles.com lift.
