  1. Other way I've used to check North is up is to swing them past the side of the boat on a bit of rope like a pendulum with Perfect Pass in Magnet test mode. Have also in the past used a stack of old car speaker & microwave magnets when I didn't have the real thing readily available. The grey do-nut part that's left once the other stuff is stripped off.
  2. Hey @Horton, that would be interesting. It's always amusing to see the faces of the people that you blindly formed images of based on the stuff they post in places like this. It's often a great contrast! Cheers
  3. Put a Z-Box software update in on Thursday! Finally got Crew Weight in Kg's! (Thanks for that Perfect Pass). Interesting that there was no version number change, still 8.0.00, even though both my upgrade chips are marked 8.001. Only un-usual thing is that the weight increases in 4 kg increments, (actually seems like 4.5 internally the rounding). Anyway it is now out there for those who work in metric. Cheers.
  4. @Sethski, can we organize something?
  5. Just about zero info on site. PP & ZO links at the bottom of the pages mean nothing. (products.html).
  6. @Chef23, No the old plates were quite wide where the screws went. Also would prefer not to be relying on just the self tapping screws in the to glass layer.
  7. Thanks Seth, Australia. So USPS would be the way to go. Was also just think it may also be worth putting some dual lock under the fitting too, to reduce the load on the fasteners. The ski does have an alloy inlay for screws but it only matches the original '80's binder. It's now got a HO plate on it. Phil
  8. Been looking around for them down here & loosing the battle. Anyone willing to help me out? Want to get may hand on a dozen & fit some to my old EP Honeycomb trick ski the boys use. Would someone be willing to grab me some with screws & post them down. Will cover all costs of course. Thanks Phil
  9. Best thing I've found for cleaning water stains of anything including Balls & Gel-cote is Oxalic Acid. Down under I buy it as "Diggers Rust & Stain Remover", from the local hardware stores. Absolutely brilliant in removing slime & algae stains. Dissolves it in a matter of minutes. http://www.constructionchemicals.co.uk/blog/2009/06/25/oxalic-acid-an-incredibly-versatile-cleaning-agent-for-your-home/
  10. Only posting this cause I can't delete the draft. Table didn't paste correctly. Any answers to that @Horton? Anyway feel free to delete it. 12. Bump for @rodltg2. It's roughly 2" square in size.
  13. "Carving Dollar Signs" "Carving Wet Dollar Signs"
  14. Polyform Buoys on ebay! Great price! $16.10 + $45.60Aud post. Each. Ed you could make a fortune at that rate. Think you'll get the order for my next set. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/POLYFORM-WATER-SKI-SLALOM-BUOY-YELLOW-WS-1-YELLOW-/200713401912?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebb737638 Phil
  15. @Horton, Would be surprised if NBN covered it. They are a regional broadcaster covering the NSW Mid North Coast through to the Qld Border, so Victoria is outside their region. Bit of info here:= http://www.moombamasters.com.au/ Cheers Phil
  16. So on a tangent, who's willing to take their Smart Phone Skiing. We plan to. Plenty of apps out there that do acceleration logging. Just need to find a nice compact waterproof case to put it in under your vest. Hopefully one that floats. Other thing that would be fun to jump for is one of these: http://www.gcdataconcepts.com/products.html
  17. Looks like they've given it a face lift! Looks good. http://perfectpass.com/
  18. Behave? @Horton! You don't know which brush you are tarred with. Let me explain. My best mate in High School was a guy called Jon Hawton. We were partners in crime. Masters of Taunting Teachers! Received report cards that made references to us as Malefactors & Recalcitrant s. Top 5% band in grade, lousy attitude, disruptive in class etc, etc. We spent many a lunch time outside headmasters offices or on Emu Parade (Aussie for picking up papers in playgrounds during lunch hour). We departed High School in '81 & left a reminder of our presence in an unforgettable way. Both names at the top of the Honors Roll for the next 20 years. Sadly a 20 year High School reunion rolled around in 2001 & the true Dex of the School for the Class of '81 noticed the sign writers errors, & the Honor Roll was re-written to move our names to joint 2nd for the year. So hence a name like John Horton is immediately branded with the roll of Shit Stirrer etc, etc, etc. Cheers Phil References:- Malefactor:- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/malefactor Recalcitraunt:- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/recalcitrant Emu Parade:- http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/09/09/1094530767436.html
  19. @usaski1 Tournaments are a thing of the past here ATM. So the my PB of 10 years back is still 4@28. 6 years of divorce, property & custody settlement has lessened skiing over the past years, but just managed to shed the 12 or so kilos picked along the way & getting some fitness back & hoping to get back to 22 before this seasons out (if the rain lets up). My boys 11, & 15 are now getting some skiing time back again, on alternate weeks, & my experience is mostly with them. Eldest is 15 & 50kg and skiing well into 36 this summer, (Last years PB was 3@22 34mph). What I'm noticing is the improved ease in providing him with consistent runs & much less segment variation if he digs in a bit. We've actually only had about 5 outings since putting Zbox in, but it has certainly been a very pleasant experience. The boat feels really in touch with what he's doing at the end of the rope. He did comment after the first few days that there was a bit of a delay in the pull coming on, but later tried C2 & said that felt a lot better. Also commented in the first few days that his runs felt a speed low & really easy. That was on B2 & the times were all +/- 0.01 or 0.02. Interesting to hear the comments of a 15 year old that are not over analyzed. As I've mentioned before, ours in an older carby boat, 400 cube & 1:1 ratio, Revs are low, about 2850 @34mph. All settings are still straight out of the box, & times are really good. By comparison, Sg 7.0.62 required a bit of tweaking of background settings to arrive at the same results. Probably not a lot of people here running around in 15 year old boats, but hey property settlement puts you back over 10 years financially, so this old tug has to stick around for a few more years yet. Cheers Phil
  20. @Ed Obermeier, I'm certainly not expert, but can make the following comment. We spent a fair amount of time playing with out background settings & driving approach & ended up with pretty good results. Have had a Zbox for 2 weeks & only 4 hours running time & are finding out of the box results to be pretty amazing in comparison to 7.0.62. Totally impressed with the default performance & presume a bit of fine tuning will make it even better.
  21. Yeah, Great spot. Been using it for over 12 years now & sorta got it to ourselves. Owner is a good friend of 40 years +. Had our course in for all but a couple when it was a bit low, but it's bang on 100% again now. Great! Usually keep the trailer in as our dock & prefer trailer maintenance to hull repairs. No Crocs, just Cod & Silver Perch. Cheers.
  22. I just hate photos taken with phones, but have to go to the Dark Side & post this one. http://static.cl1.vanilladev.com/ballofspray.vanillaforums.com/uploads/FileUpload/89/d49a0fd89843e3efe0b0b6090a971f.jpg Great weekend out. Water is still 28 & weather around 32. Just before our last runs after 7 on Saturday night. Cheers.
  23. @norton Think that might be the ABC adj setting. It's defaulted at 0, can be taken up to3. Abc starts at 11 &the goes up to 20. Robbie had about a dozen runs yesterday. Felt like he was waiting for the pull he said. Changed to C2 &the reckoned it was hooking him up a lot better. Most times were either spot on or. 01 off. Pretty impressed considering it's still out of the box settings &the our 7.0.62 required a considerable amount of fine tuning. Now if I only knee how to upload a photo from my phone.......

  25. Anyone played with Zbx settings yet? Just looking at some times from the other day... Here’s what I saw for 6 runs the other day (and it was the 1st outing with Zbox). Still pretty good, but not yet as tight as 7.062 was once it was tuned. (0.01th’s below) Ball Run 1 Run 2 Run 3 Run 4 Run 5 Run 6 Mean Median 1 -2 -1 0 -2 -1 -1 -1.2 -1 2 0 1 3 1 2 2 +1.5 +2 3 2 2 4 3 2 5 +3.0 +3 4 2 1 3 5 3 3 +2.8 +3 5 2 0 1 4 1 -1 +1.2 +1 6 2 0 1 2 0 -2 +0.5 +1 End 1 0 0 1 0 0 +0.3 +0 before we had cruise & used to "foot" drive I remember using the Tacho to push on a rev more revs for each cut, & back then we ran a stopwatch with a switch on the steering wheel. Times were never much worst than .05 off at the end. With 7.0.62 we were within .01 - .02 at each buoy, bat that was after tuning background settings a bit. As these don't match version 8 software I'm wondering if I should start with Zbx instead, thinking it may basically be to calibrate for engine & prop variation from boat to boat.
