  1. it is not a new ski, but a rebranded ski Obrien is making. Thought it was the KD7000, but could be wrong there? regardless its old tech with a new badge. If you liked the sixam I'd recommend finding one of those. you can buy theses 7s new for under $350 so not a stellar deal by any means. the new targa's look interesting, maybe someone has some feedback on them too, bindings are as, if not more important than the ski... I'd recommend the Radar Senate you look at as well. should be able to find one of those in the same price range. Radar Vector bindings also similar. hope that helps.
  2. it's in Haliburton County, not in the park so no restrictions I'm aware of. I am around that area a lot in the winter with the tall pines (dorset) snowmobile club, never been on oxtongue thawed though ;) south end has less cabins and narrower probably best for skiing. most of the resorts are up near 60. bring lots of rope for the anchors! :)
  3. TY is famous for pulling the pylon out of Rossi's Tige years back I remember. Very strong and consistent skier and doesn't get enough play on the web or in the waterski world. Truly a unique and driving personality & a great representative of the sport. you guys are too anal, this is exactly what we DONT need to be talking about.... T-Y love that kalamazoo drawl ;)
  4. They go between the ski and the silver washers
  5. dleenhouts:  I live less than 1mi from the big Lake in T.O.  there is a massive beach right by my house I can meet you there, I will simply kiteboard out to meet you.  will have to wait a few weeks though unless you drive an icebreaker?
  6. most of the radar team still uses the single plate FWIW  for shipping can pull the boots off the plate, and attached the plate to the ski. no problems there. depending on which ski you use you can make 1/2 hole adjustments in fwd/aft as well.  single plate does offer more flex as the pivot point is the middle both front and back float. single plates will not offer as much flex.  biggest reason I believe they went to the dbl plate is for shipping reasons  ya I love my sequence plate
  7. I am leaning towards getting the 2011 Senate C also, but a big reason is the price at $599. I am coming off a 67" system 8, running the RS1 boots already & love them.  I am about 5'10" 180lbs in ski season, maybe a bit lighter if the weight room sees me more... skiing into 28off 32-34mph. tempting 32off on a good day would be a goal.  skied an A1 67.5" last year and liked it instantly. also tried the Zt St 67", and liked that but want something just a little more forgiving and stable.  The A1 I preferred to the Z7 FWIW  I am humming and hawing about getting into a leftover A1 (price range is around $600 also), but would consider of course the 2010 Strada, and the new 2011 Vice. Wanted to know what peoples thoughts are, and if maybe a Vice would be a better ski for me or the higher end 2010 Strada?  Is there any other difference between the Vice and Senate C other than .2" wider? thanks!
  8. Tru-jack u can try Andrew at cottage toys in lakefield or High Output sports direct (likely where he will order from)
  9. D3 custom fit gloves are working great for me.  very similar design to the old Accurate Camoto gloves with the quick release buckle on the back of the hand.
  10. I tried to open the photos you posted and couldn't either. I tried using a multiple of different picture viewers, none worked.
  11. Cant go wrong with any of the mentioned spots. For coaching check with seth to see if he will be there. Other suggestion is skiTek in otown. Colin should be there on the wknd call him: 407-568-1900 $50 coached sets $30 ride. Check if rossi might be there too ;
  12. I have been saying for many many years that one of the single biggest hinderances to waterskiing equipment and thus skiing in general is the binding technology, or lack thereof. I have an alpine skiing background, worked in the industry for many years and was an expert boot fitter. With that said snow ski binding OEMs mandate a factory trained technician install and setup EVERY binding based on the boots to be used, skier weight and ability. You must pass a certified binding tech course to be able to sign off on an install. In the shop you will find a check and balance process where 1 tech does the work another senior tech will double check the work and only then sign off on it. There is also always a waiver the customer signs. It is good to see perf ski upholding some values & even though on video these HO EXO binsings are THE GREATEST advancement in skiing technology, there is obviously something missing. I hope they get it settled fast, because as I said this is the best mainstream advancement in watetski equipment EVER!
  13. all I ever have to do is change the oil and filter with good quality oil and filter. shell rotella T 15w45 just like the manual says & high quality filters. I do believe that is the single best thing you can do for the motor.  new spin on fuel filter every spring as well as a can of seafoam & fresh 91 vpower. Tranny fluid every 100hrs or 2 years. I put about 60-75hrs on a year and change the oil before the summer after a few hrs running, then @ 40-50hrs during the season then in the late fall when it gets put to bed so it has clean oil and filter for the long winter. I will run that oil the first few hrs in the spring as the boat doesn't get much use until June.   everything else gets changed out when it shows signs of wear. I have done the cap/rotor, plug wires & the circ water pump. plugs every 3-4years or 200hrs.steering cable was replaced on the boat before I got i  doing my shaft packing this year & new vbelt. I don't seem to go through impellers & they're hard to get out without a tool, but I run in super clean water no debris or sand usually. have over 120hrs on the current impeller over 2 years and it looks perfect.  '99 Malibu Sportster 310hp GM carb - 320hrs
  14. draft is how much water depth the boat displaces at idle. sporty's are 16", one of the shallowest draft's around, the response are 18" draft I believe. 2' is enough to float the boat, but I wouldn't be running it under power that shallow.
  15. that deal is almost TOO good... buyer beware! that is an amazing boat, one of the best all around ski boats ever made. its not a 3 event boat, its a 5+ event boat... I paid 14k for a 99 sportster (new condition 200hrs) last year. if its been maintained well and everything checks out that's a no brainer. ditto on themalibucrew, its been a tremendous help to me.
  16. got to admit, I never understood how someone could use Velcro to attach bindings to a ski... never will... the HO system is EXACTLY what this sport needs, Alpine ski binding technology geared down for watersports is what I've been saying & hearing for decades. will be interesting to see how it works/does. I went from Wiley's to a full RadaR Rail setup this year, honestly you have to look at these binders before you buy anything else. they are leaps and bounds better than any rubber binding I've ever used, including the legendary Animals.
  17. just spent a few days at ski school, and learned a few very good things. I primarily worked on my gates (which proved to be a lot more difficult and important than I thought).
