  1. @MattP I am thinking about skiing with the bros in October, can you tell me anything about the site they use? conditions and where in Otown it is? thx!
  2. if it is a true MC prostar 190 91-94 clone than all MCs were composite hull's (maybe floor wood still?) thats a good buy if its in good condition and the motor has reasonable hours on it. the trailer is worth a few G's alone...
  3. a prop change will make minimal if any difference to the wake on this boat. I owned the same boat & the wake is excellent, only slightly harder at 15 and 22 off than the response. its also smaller than many at those line lengths which is a benefit. you want to get as much weight out of the boat as possible, and make sure it is riding even. It is only 86" beam so even moving on the passenger seat from 1 side to the other will make a difference. I found fuel quantity in the tank to be the biggest factor in wake size/hardness. we always kept it under 1/4 tank when skiing the course. you will get used to it, and focus on trying to keep your ski on edge through the wake. over and out.
  4. if its got the stock SS 3 blade ditch it. I had the same boat and replaced with a standard 13x13 OJ nibral. I'm sure OJ or ACME can recommend a good prop for that boat as well. the wake is harder than the RLXi and more so when there is more weight in the boat. try and lighten it up as much as you can (fuel under 1/4 tank helps a LOT). you need to get your ski on edge through the wakes too, that will help the bump/hardness significantly.
  5. no blisters this year for me, and more skiing in warm water, less back to back sets though. HO 41 Tails & 1.03 standard or radius Masterline custom handles. went a size smaller than normal, and they're tough to get on even wet. About 40 sets on the current pair, and they just split in the typical seem between the thumb and index finger. My pro sew job and they're back to being in great shape. like @scotchipman said run them snug so no bunching.
  6. just re-heat molded my RS1s. been about 2 years since I last did it (maybe twice total) my front foot was getting cramped so I stuffed some paper towel in there. have yet to try them out, but on dry land they do feel a bit roomier already. loves these boots!!!
  7. lot of great tips here. I'm also working on 32off, and consistenly get 2, maybe 3 if I crank 2... I am skiing it the same as I did when I started learning 28off - skiing straight to the buoy. as @6balls mentioned, the difference in the shorter line, is the pull zone narrows. you must load later, that's it. I keep trying to tell myself its teh same as 28 - load later.
  8. @Hugh_Nichols I blew a wheel out of mine, instant warranty replacement sent. Incredible service from sportube. http://www.sportube.com/pages/warranty_info.php.
  9. @SDNAH2OSKIER the Response (closed bow) and the "old Response LX" (open bow) are different boat(s) from the LXi, they were effectively discontinued a few years ago but Malibu continues to produce them in limited numbers by special order, both in their North America plant and in the old Flightcraft factory in Australia. The Response LX and the LXi are 2 completely different hulls. Malibu boats Australia site: http://www.malibuboats.com.au/boats/default2012.htm Malibu boats North America: http://www.malibuboats.com/
  10. TXi offers a better pull at most line lengths and better tracking, just a bigger boat. I like the sleek lines of the RLX, I owned a sportster which has always been my favorite ski boat, but it also has nothing on the pull from the new TXi.. the price difference is really the only question, but what would it be?
  11. olympic speed walking....... sorry to those athletes, but what a joke
  12. Strada/vice not for me either. was on A1, now settled on the A2. love this ski, if anything I feel like I'm more maneauverable on it.
  13. agree with Horton, but dont burn them.... hate to inhale fiberglass particles :( for a few dollars more you can have a much newer ski. FYI I sold a 2007 HO system 8 for $120 blank a few years ago. I only paid 250 as a closeout! lots of deals out there on great skis. those ones are ancient and worn out even if they've been sitting (breaking down). however, The rumor comp is much newer, like 2 decades old. The synergy could go back to the 80s, but was a "higher end" ski in their lineup at the time then the rumor comp was in its time. There was also a rumor "pro" which was a higher end tournament ski vs the comp, with the flex box on the forebody and an adjustable fin. the comp had only a sliding fin (for/aft).
  14. @scarletArrow it is still alive and functional, but there are some bugs. no 2012 skis in the database and no recent updates so obviously Wade as bounced. according to his blog and linkedin he's working in Arizona doing web stuff... would be good to connect with him & see if the site can be updated.
  15. There have been some great posts recently on this topic, check out @than bogan thread/article on the leverage position. Get a lesson! And practice on dry land with a handle attached to something. Watch that terry winter video 1,000,000 times and click frame by frame. Skiing is generally NOT an overnight from zero to hero sport, but you actually have good fundamentals on the ski, it looks like you ski aggressively and confidently. You look comfortable on the ski in orher words. Not a sport for the timid... 1 great tip is when you learn how to stand in the proper position aka "stacked" (research this term) on the ski, do it All The Time. When you get up, when youre gliding, when you let go of the handle, etc. hope this helps!!
  16. well... Corey Humberg is in VA, Bumpass if I'm not mistaken (love that name for a town!!!). no idea how far, but man would I love to go ski with him! hear some great things about his site and his coaching.
  17. 1st thing you need to do is buy some gloves! seriously DO IT, you'll be able to generate more angle more efficiently, which in a way is the #1 thing you need to work on. your skiing looks pretty good actually, what you need to work on most importantly is the ability to get into the proper body alignment. if you look at the video frame by frame you'll notice esspecially on your offside wake crossing your hands are up near your shoulders, which is why you have no leverage, and the boat starts to pull from your shoulders, forcing your chest and head down, where you can get into even more problems in OTF type crashes. you need to let the pull to come from your centre of mass (hips area), not your shoulders. You will be able to hold on to more power and let the ski do its job. watch Terry Winter's vids, esspecially this one:
  18. I have always had my rear binding as close to the front as possible & have read numerous pros indicate this as a best practice for years. Going back to the days before factory plates had so many different mounting options I'd drill my plates so I could rotate my rear binding and get it closer to the front. I'm thinking now, after running a set on a borrowed ski with a greater spacing between front/back binders that my next set I will try my rear binding back 1 hole. If anything it should help my balance on the ski as sometimes I feel awkward when turning the ski, like I'm going to fall over.
  19. Been doing it for a few years at myskilog.com its interesting going back. With how slow my progression is (ski 50 sets a year lucky) it gives me something to focus on and work towards. Thankfully with the log I actually can see the progression
  20. @cwhite Wow, Thank you! We are leaving for the island on monday and aim to be back in Van on thursday fly out on saturday. Not sure it will work out at those times. maybe another day! Thanks again Kyle @bigtallweed Amazing! definitely going through Victoria. Let me know when youre skiing and ill make it work. x w s at r o g e r s .com.
  21. Travelling to the lower mainland and then up to Tofino all next week. Looking for a pull sometime next week, I fly out next saturday (21st) from Vancouver. Would love to get a ride in on the island, with all the scenery. I know the Big Dawg is happenning this coming weekend in Abbostford at the Fraser Valley ski club, and the BC games next week as well so not sure I'll be able to get a set in there with all the action... Also aware of Borderline Lake in WA, does anyone have any info on that site as well? thanks Killer
  22. very cool idea! but does your wife know you're using the kitchen counter? ;)
  23. take it for a good test ride. I believe they were still wood floor and stringers so inspect as much of the boat as you can. 6k is a good price but if the floor and stringers are rotten 4-5k is more like it IMO. its likely not worth a penny more than 8large with a solid hull and motor. cool boats
  24. @GAJ0004 you should double check the laws on PFDs and waterskiing. Most jurisdications allow a skier to wear a waterski specific floatation device, as long as you have a PFD on board. We MUST maintain this standard for our sport. Barefooting and trick skiing in particular are in jeopardy if PFDs are mandatory for a skier.. I checked the PA regs and I'm amazed at how detailed as well as naive the laws are in that state, I think I need a PHD to understand it all, but you can elect to wear a waterski specific "wetsuit" if you meet certain criteria... http://www.boat-ed.com/pa/course/p4-12_reqspectopwc.htm http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/058/chapter109/s109.4.html
