  1. I,m sure somebody else has thought of this ?    For people who use ski manafacturers bindings and are stuck with the one hole forward or one hole backward syndrome when trying to get a binding placement where they want it, how about using the manafacturers slotted holes for mounting the binding, but use Dual Loc for position, enabling the skier to make smaller adjustments to binding position. Further more if a ski manafacturer was to go with this method, it would reduce cost and elimnate two inserts in the ski.
  2. Hey Phil you trying to say, I,m a Fatboy, LOL!
  3. Ok I currently ski on a 66" Sixam 2 best ski I have ever skied on, but its time for change, for some reason I do not ski well on a 67" ski, I do not know whether this is a height thing or just me, I,m vertically challenged at 5' 6" weigh 180 lbs but I am determined to get back down to 170lbs or less in the next four months. With the Obrien Elite in mind, what do you guy,s think the maximum skier weight you could get away with on a 65.5" Elite, I ski @34mph, sent email to obrien and didn,t get a response, nobody seems to know skier weight recommendations for the Elite, so it,s down to the opinion of you guy,s that are on the Elite, would be interested to know how the surface area of a 65.5" Elite compares with a 66" Sixam 2 or 66" Z7.
  4. Thanks guy,s looks like a good thing, I will definitely give it a go, have to be next march tho, pretty cold through the next three/four months, probably ok for the next month, just deal with the wind chill, just takes my breath away, I think there is a song with those words, many thanks for your comments very helpful. Regards
  5. Guy,s & Girls, I am thinking of signing up for Proskicoach next season, has anybody experienced this, if so does this format work and do all the pro,s listed respond or are some more responsive than others. I,m never going to ski like a Pro, but I keep getting different objectives from different coaches, which normally screws up the previous technique, that I have just got right. It,s time to take control and get some consistency is this a good way of acheiving that.ÂÂ
  6. Gents anybody got settings for the 65.5 Elite just in case I can get that as well as the 67 to demo.I got the numbers for the 67
  7. Hi Guy,s regarding the Elite anybody give me measurements on the widest point of the ski and also front of binding width for the 65.5 and the 67, I want to compare this measurement with my 66" 2 point. Cheer,s
  8. Just in case anybody is interested , got this from waterski.com for the elite 65.5" = 125lbs - 150lbs /  67" = 150lbs - 195lbs  /  68.5" = 185lbs & UP http://www.waterskis.com/O-Brien-Elite-Slalom-Waterski-p/obrien_elite_2009.htm
  9. Ok my weight Yo Yo ,s 170 - 180 LBS or tho they have found some answers to some of my health probs so looking to go 175 LBS and below and keeping it there, I,m vertically challenged 5' 6" , I seem to get on better with a 66"ski. I struggle to get position on a 67", I do not know whether this is a height thing or not but I end up on the back of the ski, just cannot get onto the front foot and make it stick. Been skiing well on a Sixam 2 point "66 but my trusty steed took a nasty battering from the handle, gonna have to let it go  The Elite , I think puts me on a 67" am I likely to get away with the 65.5" or am I grasping at straws, I have been looking for official chart but I cannot find one. Nothing on O'briens website.
  10. Just on the verge of purchasing, and every time this crops up, had a re-think, going to demo the Elite, after that the only ski I haven,t tried is the Prophecy, would give RCX a go but every D3 I have tried just dosen,t suit, I got the Devcon out last night had ago at repairing my old ski, really awkward to clamp it together, looks ok tho, but I am going to have to get on something else. Regards the Elite anybody know the weight ranges for size of ski ?ÂÂ
  11. I have had the pleasure of watching Chris Parrish ski at the Pro Am at Princes London on many occassions and I have to say he looks so comfortable on that ski, he obviously has great confidence in it, and what a superb technician, how must that feel to have the ability to run some of those passes, so smoothly without all the heaving and shoving, there are a lot of top skiers on the Goode right now, I am wondering if Goode use their standard AMP chart for these skiers or whether they play around with it a bit ?
  12. What ever Andy Mapple & Will Asher do, suits me just fine, wish I could do it!    LOL!
  13. Yeah! I am a TURN & BURN merchant, a little bit of technique, but I do get in deep, and I do work a lot harder than I should, generally I get wide but narrow, if the ski didn,t work out, I,m just a bit concerned with going back to a narrower ski.
  14. Hi I,m in the in the southeast, the only people I know who have the wide ride is Nigel M in the cambridge area and Steve G in the Thorpe area. Regards
  15. Ok Guy,s & Girls, this is where I,m at. I am about to do the unthinkable, but I,m gonna give it a go, do I buy a standard 9900sl or do I go for the wide ride, its very unlikely that I will get to demo the ski as I will have to ship it another person in the states and pick it up a little later to reduce costs, I have studied various people on the standard ski and it appears to tick all the boxes when it comes down to acceleration & turning and creating angle, I have only seen one wide ride in action as there is not many about in the UK. Any constuctive advice, ideas or thoughts, would be gladly received, As far as the purchase is concerned , I know all the Pros & Cons so no negative comments on that subject please, I am going to take the plunge, its only money, if it don,t work out, Hey Ho I will have to buy something else. ( pssst, just have to keep sneaking those few dollars away each week ) Best Regards to you all and I would like to thank the Author of this Forum for all his time and hard work, John must spend hours keeping this site up to date.
  16. It,s been a few Months now, and we have seen most of the manafacturer,s new style, ideas & products. With all the testing and development " who is going down the right road of progression " or are they just spinning the wheel & producing products to move off the shelf, the testing is a difficult one as any Pro could almost certainly get a ski to work for them after quite a few sets with a bit of tweaking, and those guy,s know exactly what the ski is doing most of the time, for a ski to fly off the shelves, would it not be better, to get a good club skier to do the testing.
  17. Roberto get up on the front of the ski, just push those knees forward on your ankles, maintain and turn slow remaining central on the ski into the wakes, you can try reaching forward with your hands to make sure you remain on the front of the ski when making the turn, turning on the front of the ski gives you direction with less load, it sounds to me as though you are resisting the pull instead of going with the ski, try relaxing those arms, enjoy the speed and commit to the line length. Remember its a case of "Death or Glory !"
  18. I know the wind was a blowing Roberto, but how did it go, was there anelement of success, or were you "just blowing in the wind"
  19. One of these skis, I would have to think about buying new, let alonesecondhand, the other one is going to be durable and not give you anygrief.
  20. Roberto for two hands on, get up on the front of the ski make a niceslow turn, hold on the back arm remaining central on the ski into thewakes "DO NOT LOAD/LEAN HARD" , snappy edge change, and you should endup with a nice slow One Ball.
  21. Roberto I have been recently using a technique that has gained me abig PB in comp, it gets you wide quickly without to much speed and veryeasy to control, basically sit out to the leftof the wake & halfboat length from pre gates, turn your whole body towards the boatwhilst moving to the left, it works really well for me, sort ofsemi-west coast style, but not. Give it a GO ! you wil be surprised.ÂÂ
  22. Calling "aguylikeshark" I,m liking your 29 1/2" comment, contacted O'brien and they gave me Binding Placement of 29 1/4" &Fin Numbers of DFT = .780    Length = 6.830 Depth = 2.500   not convinced with the BindingPlacement, would like a copy of "O'brien Binding Chart" any ideaswhere can I view it, measured my Binding placement and think I musthave placed wrong by mistake when under pressure, to my "shock/horror"it measures 29 3/4" or though D3 Binding, so Knock 1/8 off because ofrubber thickness which would make it 29 5/8". People are saying that Iam skiing the Best they have ever seen me ski, but got a real headthing going on with my setup, thinking it could be better. Going by "aguylike shark" the Binding Placement is not as horrific as I first thought. SWERVE WITH ME !ÂÂ
  23. You got it 175lbs 5'6" desperately trying to shed some weight,my regular lake is shallow and lots of silt you have to work for theacceleration and the once the ski is up on the soup you have to dumpthe speed for the turn, dosen,t make for tremendous technique or thoughit is improving ,the difficult part is competitions where most lakeshave the depth and nice clear water. The only real trouble isthat I end up skiing early but narrow, this is improving, the secretappears to be casting the ski off and keeping my hands with me,standingon the ski in a relaxed manner and letting it do its thing, recently afrench coach told me "Snappy Edge Change and that is the "End OfYour Turn" , I can tell you that ever since hearing those words I havenot looked back my skiing is consistent and has improved beyond mydreams, but hey I,m still Dreaming and for an old Dawg like me to stillbe improving , it brings me a great deal of joy.
  24. Cheers! Brent  the DFT @ 0.858 is a result of theD3 Front Boot it positions quite a bit forward from the correctmeasurement, the ski used to turn so hard on the onside , I got crushedor loads of slack just couldn,t work it out, so I moved the fin forwardto effectively bring the binding back a bit if that makes sense. (Justthe way my engineering brain works) RegardsÂÂ
