  1. Think of the ski, that the core is exposed at where the fin slot is and at the inserts and it does not absorb water. It won’t absorb water because of a ding. But I would repair it just to make it look good. Mask it, remove the chips, sand it, put some epoxy, I would use the AB modified acrylate. Mask it again sand it, use some car putty, mask it sand it again and when you are satisfied with the result, mask it and spray it. With black, or anthracite, or midnight black… or whatever you prefer. SEM Classic Coat is a good choice of spray paint. Well… there were 2 skis that their fin slot was shield and had no inserts, because they had no foam core… so a ding would had been a reason to sink, but not on any other ski. 😊
  2. I use d3 rubber and it lasts for many years, last one lasted for 9 years and current is on the 7th year and going strong. Their rubber is very durable probably same quality as Wiley’s or radar. But it lasts for years also because it’s tightened down securely with screws and nuts, not just wood screws screwed in the plastic. I use a g10 plate, but the D3 one has many sets of holes and each rubber size is bolted on different set of holes so the foot stands on the right place. So if for example you want your foot further forward, instead of Frankensteined the rubber, you just move it one hole (or more) forward. I never had any experience with rtps that lasted for less than a year. Rubber brakes at th holes if it’s not properly tighten down. Wiley’s has a very thin footbed and the new d3 is thicker now. so buy what you might prefer more.
  3. I make these… rope net doesn’t get caught at skis’s edge, when getting up. For handles with plastic protection, I make a cross bar… Have made other plastic ones that are attached with zip ties but I prefer the rope net solution. Have also made these before, I only do the rope net now and the cross bar…
  4. You would need to use a material that withstand the pressure and most importantly the sun heat. Definitely don’t use PLA or PETg. They might coop with the pressure if not over tightened, but heat… they won’t cut it…
  5. Tilt the ski to the left a little if you are LFF and Vice versa. Rope should still be touching the side of the ski when getting out of the water. When you get used to the hard shell you would not need to do that, that much anyway.
  6. @wettek69 honestly couldn’t though of that… maybe you have to go the diy route, cut the horseshoe in two pieces to widen it, find a source for a rubber sheet and use the standard one as template but make it wider, or split the standard rubber and reconnect it with maybe a leather piece to make it wider. I guess the standard heel squeeze piece can be used as is. Modifying it can really hard.
  7. If you are talking combo skis.. bindings come in two pieces each. All you have to do is to spread them apart. By how much, I’m not sure, use foot as template. Somewhere between the original screw holes, there is definitely enough space to drill some new and use the old ones for guide and measurement purpose.
  8. I had so many sets for March, that I feel I’m done… taking the rest of the month off…. Or… not…🤗
  9. Give the guy some slack… do not discourage newcomers, ok this was too much, but still, suggest him to follow the threads, learn the rules of the forum and encourage him to be a part a great community.
  10. @Deanoski I liked what you wrote and yes reflex need forward pressure to eliminate play and risk of prerelease and also testing outside is important and the concerns about the ss springs. But in the HO system the shell stays put because of the base that it sits in and can stay in place with less forward pressure and still work fine. It is just a little more difficult to adjust it when it develops more play than it should.
  11. Florida or bust! 6 hours to take off…!
  12. Skied that week and bought new ski after that. Sportube… I’m still using the same one.
  13. Last summer, on the way to SanGervasio. Ski tip was damaged, I took pictures at the airport and left so I would not miss my ski set. Send a Mail to the airline explaining everything, with photos, an invoice for the tube and a link to the manufacturer’s site of the ski and its cost. I’ve got a reimbursement that covered the ski and tube. repaired both…
  14. @whitem71mine doesn’t work either and I don’t upgrade if not needed. the message is that it has been removed from the AppStore. for me that I set up skis for a lot of people’s skis and older models, was very useful. i hope it will come back. Any advice on how to make it work again, if it’s on my end is vey welcome.
  15. Skiing this… getting in ski shape for Florida trip next week!
  16. @Horton Kyma means wave in Greek, unless It’s an acronym… they named their boat “Wave” just sayin…
  17. 6 sets so far… getting in ski shape..
  18. This is sad news, but could also be an opportunity for someone else. there is always money to be made in niche markets. Maybe a smaller size lower cost company can take over and build a ski boat, or Malibu can licensing the hull to somebody else. Anyway, if Malibu stops producing ski boats… let’s hope not…. And there is money to be made… hopefully somebody else will step in.
  19. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahk48h7P4ts Chuck Patterson is the guy
  20. There is at least one guy, maybe more, that is an alpine skier and surfer I think, that have skied waves in style. Skis were combos, but he had snow ski boots and ski poles.
  21. This is what I thought it would be about when I read the title
