  1. Well I don't post much but My name is Dave Macchi and I have been skiing since I was 5 yrs old and competing from age 10. I am 41 yrs old and a Firefighter in the Orlando area. I lived in SF bay area for most of my life. Started skiing at Berkeley Aquatic Park in '75. Horton you know that place where the '80 western regionals were held and it was COLD!!!!!! Once the private lakes started to draw all the events took my skiing to the Sacramento area. In '04 my family moved to Florida where we have just 2 seasons warm and hot.. I have seen an awful lot of changes in this sport from boats, age groups and speeds to today's current format. Heck I could remember when you could get a regional rating in practice if there was a judge in the boat and the time was good. OH YA no PP, ZO or automatic timing all by hand. If you could only do that today. I will probably keep skiing until I loose a limb or I get so confused my wife will tell me I just got back from the lake and I skied great.
  2. Your right!! my bad I hate OCD I hate when it gets the best of me also.
  3. Klundell you were there and able to compete with the pros. By getting your OM that gave you elite status. Not everybody can ski at that level OM or in a Pro event. I have more respect for what you did skiing at the ski jam and in your words "getting my ass handed to me " then somebody dropping down just to win a metal. Yes you do have a competitive hair on your ass congratulations on taking tat leap into the money events.
  4. If we were to adopt this 35 MPH division how would it affect the world rankings? Would the IWSF adopt this new format? Or would this be an USA only ranked division?
  5. 6 Balls you are right in one case. That person is the best that day. But by calling somebody the best when that person when they have an average buoy count example of 2@41 and the best in the division has an avg buoy count of 5@38. His average has already out skied that division so of course he is going to be the best that day. When you get to the caliber of 38 39 and 41 off maybe your age should not have anything to do with what division you ski. Maybe USA should do a performance base after a certain line length to settle this problem that arises every year around Nationals. Combine 38 and 39 off for 34 mph skiers regardless of age Maybe MM should be shelved. Ever since the division came out there has been this controversy. I don't think there is an easy answer other then the Big Dawg will go on with or with out MM.
  6. I think going 35 mph for MM and even M3 is a good idea. Like anything else it will be an adjustment like slowing down from 36 to 34 at age 35. I think it is a great idea to force the MM to ski in that division if qualified. The skier who drops down from MM to their respective division such as M3 or M4 for the regionals or nationals just to grab a metal or get into the top five does not have a competitive hair on his ASS. I would rather be 10th out of 10 in MM rather then first in M3.. The skier who drops down from MM can't say that.
  7. In 2010 I sold my 08 196 SE for 33,000 with 140 hrs on it. With only 54 or less then 100 HRS on it and depending on the package SE vs Limited I would not pay more then 33,000 for a LTD and 30 for the SE. 37K is too much for an 08.
  8. You might be a good idea to change the setting on different boats. The Malibu does not have a gear reduction where as the MC and CC does. So you may want to up your letter because the pull will be softer.
  9. call Masterline they sell bulk rope. 407 656 1133
  10. If the asking price is 56k that is a bit too much for a new 10 when the 11 half way through the season. The silver flake is nice but the blue on the bottom is a waste of money. The majority of the color is in the water no contrast except on the trailer. You can promos a whole lot cheaper even though they have some hrs on them.
  11. I have been on the A2 now since February. I have my ski at stock settings and it is a great ski. It is faster then the A1 and turns nice and smooth really settles into the water when on edge. I have not had a need to move the fin. highly recommended.
  12. Centurion might want to rethink the single axle option for there boats. Outside California tamdum trailers are not very popular. Have not seen a tandum trailer in Florida unless necessary on a ski boat even the 200. This would also keep the price down to get the boats out there.
  13. Here in the south promo guys get NOTHING I am glad the TC treats the promo people right. They try to keep the hrs even though.
  14. Don't piss off your promo people you may find your tournament boatless. And at 50K promo people may be very hard to replace
  15. I am with the group here. After looking at the pictures the boat looks cheap. The gunsight is cheesy. It looks like something you would find at Walmart in the new boat isle. From the looks if it they spent all the money on carbon and went cheap on everything else to balance out the price. The boat is not worth 35- 40K they are asking for promo prices. Rumor I heard is that the first promo boat will be at 35K and then 40K there for after. It would be a shame if they do not make it after putting money into the Nationals to be a major sponsor.
  16. Well said swc5150. You are not talking about a whole lot of boats. Maybe 12 boats or so.
  17. Centurion has always had a good wake on any of there boats. Going all the way back to the Trutrac ll and lll. Even the "S" rail trutrac. They have also had some interesting innovations such as the articulating fin which was attached to the steering cable and turned the front fin when you turned the boat. Can't remember how that went over but anyway the ski ability has never been an issue. Quality or quality control has been the issue in the past. To anybody who is interested in being a promo person for Centurion I would be cautious. $40K is alot of money to give to a boat company that has not been in the tournament scene for over 15 years. If the big 3 have trouble selling a well known boat just think of how hard it will be to sell a Carbon Pro for 40K or so and being only available in a closed bow.
  18. Half you everybody on this blog can find fault in everything. Either knocking the CC 200 or battery life of of a concept boat. The LED lite show case the power plant and the fact that it is different. I am guessing that a production boat will not have LED lite or clear glass as a motor cover. This is huge for the boat and ski industry. As the EPA is cracking down on water pollution with the now mandated Catalytic motors it is only going to get worse. When/if this boat is ever ready for market who knows what type of hull it will power. I don't see any other boat company coming out with a new design or concepts to improve the sport. CC has produced 3 new designs in 2 years the 200 V-Drive and the 200 direct drive. Master Craft, Malibu still waiting. So to all you negative bloggers out there open up your mind and think outside the box.
  19. Here is an idea... Why doesn't Centurion offer make the dealers take the boat back. This will actually promote the boat. It allows the promo person to give demo's with out the worry of doing all the leg work and have the dealer snake the sale. The promo guys will then send there local dealer leads and in return the dealer will take the boat back at an redetermined price. That will keep current year boats on the tournament lakes and there will be no dealer competition. A promo person is going to send a lead/prospective buyer to a dealer when he has the same boat he needs to sell. Centurion may may have more people stepping up then they can handle.
  20. After reading these comments one question comes into play. If you pull a guest collect the fee for USAWS and that person gets hurt during his practice ride will USAWS cover him or the lake owner? USAWS did not receive payment prior to the injury. And there is no official record of the guest paying other the the lake owner or club.
  21. If there are only 6 Carbon Pros built Centurion is going to have one heck of a time getting qualified for regionals let alone the Nationals. I wish them luck. It would be nice to have another option at the starting dock.
  22. It will be interesting. The promo price is to be rumored to be around 40K. Pretty steep for an unproven boat and the retail price to be around 50K As stated earlier it will be an up up hill battle.
  23. Go with Masterline. Everything is made in house. They spin there own rope which means they control everything. I cannot speak where Intow gets there material but If you want a rope that is made in the USA Masterline is it and they stand behind there product. If a problem comes up they will work something out if it not a warranty issue.
  24. Try a Masterline custom. I have never seen a handle break where yours did. The compound is sticky and wears great. they come in 12 or 13 ich and in about 6 different diameters. You can't go wrong.
  25. 48,000 plus seems a little high giving that Centurion has not been on the tournament circuit for many years and this new boat has not proven its self. There is no carpeting in the boat it has foam padding for carpet. Great concept for skiers but for the average public I don't think it will go over very well. Curious what the promo price would be.
