  1. This is really cool stuff, I look at it like a concept car right now. Not quite ready for prime time for most of us.  The next gen or gen after that is going to make it more main stream. Hopefully with all the research going on the battery technology will zoom in the next couple of years. From the video on the main page, I am not sure I like the argument, We are giving you xx gallons of gas to justify the cost diffential, but I like the ski school/tournament thoughts on just have 3 battery packs and change them out and charge off boat. Not sure how that would go for all of us on public lakes.
  2. The boat you are talking about sounds like it is targetted at a niche that "has to" be loyal to the big 3 in some way, shape or form. My understanding is you are looking to build a course "monster" that will be highly engineered with great wakes, good styling etc. But what that niche wants is that plus it wants to train behind a boat that it could get in a tournament. Given the market, I would also think you need to find something unique(electric, auto steering, 32off wakes at 22mph longline) that you do, unless you are going to give the same/better quality, features for ~1/2 the price(already done to a degree) you are going to have tough sledding, unless you have a business model that allows you to build a small number of these boats to satisfy your dream.  Some Ideas for my ideal ski boat in addition to what has been mentioned  Similiar wakes from 20mphlongline, to shortline Integrated videotaping system(both for review and Real time for driver comfortable seating for 2 observers in an openbow
  3. I want to ski, I want to ski real bad, just not that bad. You guys are crazy.
  4. I learned that Advil is not a cure but a mask and sometimes it is better to take the time needed to recover than to rush back. But then again when you are at Ski School and you get hurt on your first set, you kind of feel obligated to finish the week since you already paid for it. So maybe I didn't really learn anything, other than it sucks getting hurt.
  5. Happy Birthday and many more, from a frequent lurker and occasional poster
  6. It's not a pretty picture when Chef puts the suit on for those of us in the boathttp://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif
  7. Wasn't one of PP's ads, Perfect Pass -- Cheaper than a divorce. My skiing improved greatly after I started with PP, Good hand driving was probably harder to find then than a boat with ZO is now. Now you just have to worry about boat path.Â
  8. Actually I think Andy is missing a business opportunity, he should clean them up and sign them or he could sign them and sell them to those companies that make chairs out of them. A collectors item :)
  9. +1 I could have written that entire post :)
  10. Not that I would know how to do this, but how bout some kind of cheap radar device that centers the boat path based on the boat guides in front of the boat and those in the back or some other kind of sensor/transmitter system(RFID) in the boat and boat guides.  This would solve the problem not only for private lakes, but also public lakes and we would not have the same accessibility issues that we have been talking about.  One problem I see is retrofitting all the steering cables to accept the input of the driver assist system. It will be much easier when we get Steer by Wire :)
  11. I only ski with PP classic and Stargazer at my home sites. I have come to Coble's ski school the last 3 years and the first year I hated ZO and had them switch me to classic. The second two years I used A2 on ZO and have not noticed a considerable difference to PP. 5'11"/165. Â My suggestion would be to try A2,B2 and then if you don't like either try C2 and so on until you find one you are comfortable with.
  12. I suggest you print out any rules that you can find online to show the customer service rep. It will say you time and possibly money
  13. Funny, I just bought the 2010's and they are alot stiffer than my (granted old) 2001's and cramp my feet more right now. I am hoping they break in, because I still love the feel
  14. MS hit it on the head I think the baggage handlers like to have fun with oversized bags, also in Boston I actually watch the TSA as they take apart my packing and then they put it back together so that it just fits in the box with no care for packing it to protect it. I actually helped one guy to put my ski and stuff back in, but the second guys refused. I have taken 2 trips with the sporttube and each trip my sport tube was damage in some way. First trip with a brand new box had a hole the size of a half dollar on one of the corners(looks like it was dragged from Boston to NC) the second trip it had a crushed edge. Even with that damage to the tube, the ski and all my stuff was no worse for the wear. I still wrap the fin with a fin protector and bubble wrap and also the tip. Funny when I shipped the empty tube back to me by FedEx it had no visible damage.  Another thumbs up that Tadd is great to work with.
  15. I'm in.  Thanks to HO for recognizing the BOS communitiy.
  16. Yeah I am a head case, and this thread is not going to do me any favors the first couple of times I switch.   As disland said, I wish I could afford two identical (Strada,Elite,Goode) skis but that is not in the cards. The Sixam 1.0 is going to be demoted and only used 2-3 times a month remotely from my home site. I hope it works out for me.
  17. I just took a new job North of Austin, TX and am commuting every other week from Boston. and would like to get some skiing in while I am down there. (looking for a pull also)  I am currently skiing on a Sixam 1.0 and instead of carting the ski back and forth I was thinking of getting a Sixam SS as my new primary ski and ship my old ski down to Austin. If I set up the skis basically the same, am I still going to run into issues that would affect me going back and forth. I ski into 35off at 34mph.
  18. Matt,  I am commuting to Austin every other week and more than willing to help you put some hours on the boat until you are ready to ski  ray  ray.newmark@alum.wpi.edu
