  1. My boy switched from a Vactor to a new Vapor Boot, RTP, and carbon plate with micro-adjustments. We are running Cole G's numbers from the 22 Vapor thread (66"). Any tricks on binding measurements with this set up? What is the best way to measure to get to "stock" binding settings on a 22 Vapor with this set up?
  2. Is that with the new boot? Can I measure to the sequence plate groove? My boy just switched to the new boot, RTP, and a plate.

  4. "Summer plans"? Ha. Not from the PacNW I can tell.
  5. Oh Jesus, that about sums it up for me. Lol.
  6. ASU was at Firebird. I hear they are looking for other options but nothing firm yet. Fingers crossed.
  7. We used a barefoot sanger with a 200 yamaha for a college event in '91 for jump and slalom. I am sure it was only a C tourney though. Would ski behind again.
  8. It's not common but I have seen water leak through the bow eye.
  9. I hate hearing such solid advice. But thanks. 🙂
  10. I believe Powerlifting strength can be a curse if your technique is not spot on. I have had similar conversations with some elite/Olympic level coaches in other body-position-reliant sports and the consensus seems to be that if you don't get an efficient technique down cold before you get strong its very difficult to progress to elite levels because you tend to rely on that physical strength instead of efficient movement. All things being equal, it's obviously better to be stronger, but I'd bet Charlie Ross was already pretty efficient and had his form nailed before he hit puberty.
  11. I'd call Darren at Wiley's; he won't steer you wrong. I have also found some good closeout deals at wakehouse.com. There are other site sponsors on here that are very good to deal with if you look at the banner ads.
  12. I see some potential lessons in weight/ shift/transfer. But maybe that's just my untrained eye.
  13. A 65" Senate should be plenty of ski for you at the listed weight and speed. My boy uses a Radar Boa Vector and it's a good, light, comfortable binding. Of the bindings you listed, I'd stick with that one. My boy is stepping up into a Radar Carbitex hybrid boot this next season, but he's also a relatively accomplished course skier who skis at 36 mph. I'd give the Boa Vector a shot and see what you think. I have no idea if you will notice a difference between skis, but having good bindings is better than not and a Senate will be a step up in ski quality from a 10 year old Triumph. So it sure won't hurt to try a new ski. I suspect you will really like the Senate/Vector combo.
  14. I got some ranges for recovery and types of activities in our consult but it was not as specific as it could have been. I won't talk to him again until day of and post op, but, in the meantime, it would be nice to have some real world examples while I sit here suffering and dream about skiing again relatively pain free. Whatever the time frame, I fully intend to be a motivated and disciplined mf'er on the rehab end to minimize the actual down time so I can safely get back in the water.
  15. I am getting Lumbar 2-3 laminectomy and decompression surgery in early March. What is the most aggressive but realistic time frame to get back on the water? Thanks in advance,.
  16. If anybody is interested, both these books are a gold mine for anyone who wants to cut aggressively without losing much lean mass: https://store.bodyrecomposition.com/shop/rapid-fat-loss-handbook/ https://www.amazon.com/Carb-Nite-Solution-Physicists-Dieting/dp/1419613103
  17. I figure the first 6 to 8 pounds is water/bloat from eating holiday shit; then the next 12 or so pounds is a grudge match. I, personally, cut to one solid meal for dinner. No snacks during the day except for water or coffee or a shot of fish oil. 6 nights a week I alternate between high protein, low fat, no carbs (think steak or chicken and nothing else except maybe some raw spinach/bell peppers), and then the next night higher fat, medium proteins, and no carbs (think bacon and eggs and cheese or something and some greens like raw spinach). On day seven I blow out a tray of pastries/cookies for dinner to spike insulin and get the hormones/metabolism back up for the next six days and do it again. I can generally cut 3 pounds a week after the initial water drain if I'm disciplined. So short answer, some of its water but I'm also down into different belt and pant sizes.
  18. When my (then) 12/13 year old son started driving me he was safe but it was very difficult to explain with words how to drive in the middle, let alone how to dance with the skier. I have to say, it took Surepath about a week to turn him into a serviceable driver. Now, he might not drive like Becky L., but he's right down the pipe every time and I have no complaints. Surepath is spendy but totally worth it, IMO, if that's an option that you are in a position to consider.
  19. Where are the kids going to adventure camp and play pirates if you don't have Islands?
  20. 4 guys run -41 at Hilltop. (hint hint @JoelHowley)
