  1. @horton I'll take your word for it; its probably a good idea to go with a dial caliper. But I've never personally had any issues with my digital Mitutoyo like I had with previous lessor digital calipers.
  2. Lose weight, get a bigger ski, and ski like Nate and Charlie. 🙂
  3. Mitutoyo. I have never had any of the common digital problems with the Mitutoyo digital calipers.
  4. @Drago, all good points, but I will say the public lake course I ski on part time used to be out of tolerance but it's dead-bang on right now because I popped for surepath and have a few motivated club members who were willing to put it a few weekends of technical work. We also went through the three private lakes I ski on, which started out pretty good, but are also now dead-bang on as well. Unless you have a floating course there's no good excuse now for "course is off" if you really care about it being accurate.
  5. If the course isn't straight for whatever reason I don't see this as a sure-path problem. The course just isn't straight and needs to be fixed or the decision needs to made that it's close enough to ignore the problem.
  6. I'm just starting Day 3 and trying to get caught up. It's such a great event. I can't wait to watch the finals.
  7. @tjs1295, I love to eat lots and lots of crap food so I do for at least the fall and early winter. I generally weight train in the fall and winter when my back allows so it's actually not so bad strength training wise. But then I need to shed pounds for skiing and that sucks but it is what it is. I've never been able to maintain an "ideal weight" and generally head one direction or the other.
  8. I weighed in at a bloated 224#s December 26 when I started my annual cut. This year I will weigh in under 205#s by Feb 1 and under 195#s by March 12. I will be somewhere in the mid 180s for next years Regionals. Last year it took me until August to hit 190 but I am starting lighter and much earlier on this years cut.
  9. I have been waiting for a build slot for two years (I threw my name on the list and have an order number and good relationship with my dealer but I still don't have a build slot). I'd like to flip my boat if it makes sense before the hours climb too much but I want to see what the Delta is on the trade. My current boat is pretty dialed in so no worries either way.
  10. I seem to recall there is a fairly new system to remote-height adjust the ramp from shore. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get more information on this system? Thanks in advance.
  11. No college teams in NorCal? Are the Chico, Sac and Davis teams that far gone? (That sucks.) I agree with the premise. We are lucky there's a great group of Juniors at our lake as well as an ASU connection now. Fortunately they all get along, have fun, ski together, and also do a lot more than just ski together during the summer.
  12. I'd buy just for the homologation/surveying function. It's an incredible tool.
  13. The 3.0L Duramax in my 1/2 ton is pretty sweet. I could see it in a ski boat, although I am not sure how much the 10-speed in the truck helps compared to a boat.
  14. I 100% disagree with the "preposterously bad" at -28 and longer comment above. Our stable of junior skiers split preference about equally between the new Ski and the MC at longer and slower speeds and universally shun the Malibu. I'd personally give the nod to the MC at -22/34 mph but that's about it. My SN has a bit of a bump at -22/34 but it's certainly not terrible and the wake is fantastic at almost all other speeds and line lengths. And it drives and tracks better in all events than the other boats by a country mile, at least IMO.
  15. @Than_Bogan, not really an objection, but just noting that I am forced to pick at least one aspect that's "better" than gas--even if I don't really agree that any of the options are "better"--if i want to win a ski. I picked "reduced noise" or however it was phrased, because I am sure electric is quieter, but I am still not sure I'd prefer a silent boat to a growling V8. Quiet/silent might really grow on me, but I still prefer a v8 growl in trucks and sports cars to silent electrics so who knows. If there were a none-of-the-above option I would have hit that at this point in time. I might be persuaded that "less maintenance" is better if the initial costs were equal, but I have also heard the Nautique electric boat has been nothing but problems and is also a $100k up-charge over the gas. Maybe ask me again when the electrics are ready for prime time and proven reliable.
  16. @Doug, what does your 6.0L/ZO repower run? (Ballpark).
  17. No place to select "no benefit" on the electric boat seems like a forced positive answer.
  18. 68" Vapor; 67" Senate; 68" Connelly GT/GTR/DV8; 68" D3 Ion/S/2; 68" HO Syndicate. Any newish higher end ski will crush the skis you are used to.
  19. College skiing is where it's at. A big tip of the hat to @MattL.
  20. Go 65" Senate at 145 lbs. Get one with an adjustable fin and set it to stock and set boots to stock distance. Do you have someone or a proshop that can help set the boots and fin to stock? If not, get Fin Whispering and learn as it's critical to be able to get the fin and boots set to stock as a starting point (even if you never tweak from there).
  21. Any team scoring update? No info yet on waterskiscores.com
