  1. @Zaneh2oski I knew that was you and I had no problem with the process what so ever. I applaud the sportsmanship, I am in this sport because of people like you. The open men challenge you made proved that point. The point I was trying to make is that humans make mistakes (three senior judges all missed it) and in this case the process worked to right a wrong.
  2. @Zman The setup at Nationals this year was for immediate review on all discrepancies. In the case I mentioned, all three of the judges, myself included, missed the call.
  3. @jayski I honestly don't know if the protest was done correctly or not. I left that to the chief judge. In this case the system worked. To me the bigger question is, do we need a rule change to allow or disallow offsite video challenges? A big shout out to Jay Bennett and all the officials and volunteers. They did a great job putting on the tournament.
  4. We had a similar situation in boys 2 on Wednesday. A couple of pro skiers on site saw a missed buoy and one not onsite saw it on the webcast and sent it to one of the skiers onsite. I was one of the judges all three of us called a full pass. After the group was done which included a runoff that the skier in question was in. We reviewed the tournament video, not the webcast and changed the call to the correct score. It was the right thing to do but what does this mean for the future of webcasts? This happens in golf, a viewer that is a rules geek will see something and call it in. Is this what we want internet judges?
  5. Can't beat the ProStar at all speeds an line lengths.
  6. The best approach is to go to your local ski shop, find the gloves that fit the best and then go through all of the handles and find the one that feels the best with the gloves.
  7. Easiest way to check stringers is to drill a few small holes in them. If saw dust comes out all is well. If you get mush there is a problem. It goes without saying plug the holes with epoxy after you are done. Welcome to BOS!
  8. I am big fan of Matuse Wetsuits and the Geo Flex is 30% off. https://www.matuse.com/collections/mens-wetsuits
  9. @dave2ball I respect your opinion and concerns. It is possible to hold a local tournament with social distancing and extra precautions. In terms of liability, we will need an additional waiver regarding the virus. All of us are volunteers and participate in tournaments at our own risk. I suspect there will be some that will determine the risk is too great and will choose not to attend. In terms of safety personnel and Injured skiers, I am a Ski Patroller, before COVID-19 was a concern, BSI (Body Substance Isolation) was mandatory for all incident responses, that hasn't changed. I serve as Chief Safety for many local tournaments and I will continue to do so and adhere to the same level of precautions that I would in any situation. Our Tournaments in the PNW start in June and all indications are that our stay at home orders will be lifted by then, it would be very disappointing if AWSA were to deny us our local tournaments. We can and will conduct them responsibly.
  10. I will pick this beauty up next week!
  11. @spartanskier10 Contact Ron or Terry Goodman, they are your best source of information on ski sizing.
  12. @Horton, Duvall, funded by Camille's husband purchased Kidder. If I remember right after the Kidder purchase they started the Duvall brand.
  13. A handful of years ago I had a 500 gallon tank of non ethanol premium. My boat at the time was an SN with the GT40. When I switched to regular pump gas with ethanol, there was a noticeable difference in engine performance.
  14. What about a program where the local dealer owns the boat, If the LOC wants a boat or boats for their tournament. The LOC will work directly with the dealer for the boat request and the $10.00 per set fee would go straight to the dealer. If the LOC has an adequate boat and doesn't want to pay the fee they can use their boat. In regards to the three year rule for Class E L R, AWSA needs to consider moving that to 5 years. All of the boats made in the last five years are more than capable.
  15. I have been trying to get a promo boat for the last year, simply because we don't have enough here in the PNW. The ones we do have are overused, thank God for John Goodman. I recently gave up on that pursuit and purchased a new boat. I am now wrestling with the question, without factory support would I allow my new boat to be used in tournaments? I guess we will see. We may need to move to a Co-op model where a person or group has a boat available for tournaments. In this case the tournament organizer will need to pay more than free entry for the use of a boat(s). If the manufacturers are willing to provide a boat at dealer cost and the LOC will pay a fee for the use, this could be an economically viable solution.
  16. https://elanskis.com/us_en/ski-selector @mike_mapple something like what elan does in this link would be helpful adapted to water skiing.
  17. @RichardDoane I have a box of PP parts I am sure we can cobble something together if the one in the boat doesn't work.
  18. My GF Started the Season skiing a few tournaments in the Grass Roots Division, she ended the year skiing in Women's 4 and setting a couple of PB's. She has caught the bug of tournament skiing. My year was schizophrenic but I did manage a couple of tournament scores close to my pb. Met a bunch of new people and reconnected with some old friends at the Jeff Hancock Memorial tournament in Prineville Oregon. Sad to see the season end as it appears winter is coming early to the PNW.

  20. I have a very simple policy, if you hand me a frayed or damaged rope, I won't pull you. I will loan you my rope.
  21. If its still an active site, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) probably won't allow it.
