  1. @andre yes, similar conditions. I have tried 4 different skis this year. Two skis, I just got quick rides on and the other two I got a few weeks on to test. The two skis that just seemed to keep going no mater what I did, were surprising. But I never felt that smooth turn. I wasn't able to change settings on the ski, I was borrowing someone else's ski, so just placed my bindings at stock and skied it.
  2. Since we have been on lock down from most tournaments, I have been trying lots of skis this summer. Now I think I need to pick one. The problem I'm having, do I choose a ski that feels comfortable and I think I can work on technique or one that just seems to make buoys (but felt like I was all over the ski)? Trying not to get into ski brand debates, just how each ski feels and results. The skis that I got more buoys, only got a couple of rides on. So how would they react in wind at a tournament or difficult conditions. If at a tournament, would I go down on opener or get a PB? Do I gamble for that chance at a new PB.
  3. The only thing you can get from Zillow is the address and home specs. The pricing for lake front or private lake is never correct by Zillow, they only value by size and zip code. I bought my house in 2012 on a private lake and Zillow always has the value at less then I paid for it. The market has only gone up since then.
  4. @JackQ How is competing against younger individuals not an even playing field if you are the same ability? If both skiers have an average of 3@28, age shouldn't matter. That is the kind of old school thinking that @jeffsurdej was speaking of above. The problem I see with ability base is "sandbagging" just to win or get a trophy/medal and not have to move up to the next division.
  5. I want to see an unboxing where @dirt walks up and takes the ski from Horton
  6. I rode the Goode XTR CC for the first time this weekend. I'm sure @dirt with give me a hard time for saying this, but @horton review is spot on from what I felt on this ski after a couple of rides.
  7. I have the Tungsten grey hull on mine and really like it.
  8. Does anyone know if the bids are the same for Traver's and Bennett's? Would be nice to know if it is just National's as usual, just different site choice. Or are they planning something different to meet guidelines (Multi round, class "C" vs "R", other activities, etc.?). Might help people decide which site is more appealing.
  9. @Cent one of the guys that rode it has an NRG and liked the Ion better. I have ridden both NRG's and didn't feel comfortable on them. The Ion feels super smooth and carries speed.
  10. I tried to get @dirt to ride one, but he was too scared. All he talks about is stealing another ski from Horton.
  11. I will attend if they are running. I already know of 4 May/June tournaments that have been canceled or postponed due to CA stay at home rules.
  12. Would be nice if they posted the video's to their website. I don't want or need an Instagram account.
  13. I think this is going to come down to legal and insurance. I believe USAWS falls under USOC for insurance. If they are not opening other sports for events, it is unlikely that tournaments will be opened up for us. If the Olympics were postponed this summer, do we really think we are getting back to normal this summer? I hope I'm wrong, but maybe July 1st at the earliest.
  14. I got a 68 Omega to try. Anyone have some alternative settings from stock that are working well? I'm not liking the finish of the turn, hard to describe, but it feels loose or unsettled. Not confident hooking up and going. Not sure if it has to do with the low tunnel and riding higher in the water. @MarcusBrown @savaiusini
  15. I will have to get a picture. The fabric is from a roll, I think 48". It has been down for a long time.
  16. We use filter fabric with 4-6" rip rap on top around our lake with no back wash issues.
  17. @Orlando76 We need a video of Buford cutting @Horton hair? Anything for site hits.
  18. @LoopSki you would be surprised that most of the promo boats sold or new get sold to open water skiers. I have been on the CC team almost 10 years and all but one of my boats have gone to non tournament skiers. I know of two 2019 Ski Nautiques that went to individuals that ski open water (they both had purchased promo 200's in the past). These programs rely on referrals. How many people on here, if they are looking at a new or used boat go to their local promo team member first? We turn in referrals that help the factories know we are working to promote the boats. Nautique also started doing the Swervin weekends. This is to get the boats and skis from HO in front of individuals that are not tournament skiers. How many people send people they know that would like to try skiing or get a little coaching from a Pro skier for free to these types of events. It is all about getting people on the water. We have to promote all the boats to both tournament and open water skiers. It all comes down to selling the boats, whether they buy new or a promo boat. I really enjoy taking my boat to College tournaments. They are so appreciative to any of the promo people that bring a boat.
  19. @KRoundy Let me know when you are in town and I will give you a pull.
  20. Costa RIco to ski with Jim is awesome. Ski in the morning, then a great lunch and then some tourist activity.
  21. @RichardDoane you are having too much fun with this project. Keep up the pictures, it is great to see a boat come back to life.
  22. @Dylan_wick The Ski Nautique is the same width at the MC, so that shouldn't be an issue
  23. I would look at all the costs and compare. Initial cost, plus operating cost, less resale. You have to look at actual cost per year. As said above, dealer support is definitely worth some points to a particular manufacture.
  24. Heading to Japan in mid January. Otherwise every weekend in Tahoe once we get snow.
  25. @Drasband are you looking at brand new or slightly used Promo? There are a bunch of Nautiques and MC's that are getting turned in after the season for less than new and dialed in. Also really depends how you are going to use the boat. If slalom only, the MC's have a great wake. But if multiple events or other wake activities, the Nautique is a better 3 event boat. It is nice with the trick ballast tanks. My wife skis 30 - 32mph and 15 - 28 off and likes the wake on our 2019 Nautique.
