  1. Similar to @Rook .....The problem afterwards is usually not the joint; it's the strength of the muscles around it. I was skiing 4 months after surgery, but just mainly working on strengthening. At 6 months , the Dr said I can do anything saying the joint was as strong as it was before the surgery. BUT, I didn't have full strength for about a year. It was about 10 months before i was messing with any 38's, and i wasn't taking hits. I'd ski it clean or let it go. I felt at 12 months, I was back hanging and banging as well as before surgery. I had the Birmingham method.
  2. Minnesota news outlet....Bringmethenews..... A world-record holding barefoot water skier died last month in an accident on a lake near his home in the Twin Cities. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Paul S. Oman, 69, of Brooklyn Center, died Sept. 12 at a local hospital following the accident on Twin Lakes. Oman's cause of death is listed as "injuries sustained while barefoot water skiing." According to his obituary, Oman died "doing what he loved most" — he began barefoot waterskiing in 1991 and collected 186 first place medals. At the time of his death, he held the world record for barefoot water jumping (7.8m) in the Men's 7 division. "Paul shared his talents of barefooting with the Twin Cities River Rats Waterski Show Team for more than 25 years," his obituary states. "He was training for the 2022 Masters World Barefoot Championship tournament in Texas just prior to his death." Oman was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and spent his professional career as an engineer developing medical devices.
  3. You are a badass to be out in a Hobiecat in those winds!
  4. Curt Rabe took this photo behind my house....it's crazy out there!
  5. How about you just put a damn set screw in the side of it! Problem solved. Please send the engineering fee to me at Dehlinger Insurance 433 E Michigan St Orl Fl 32806. You're welcome!
  6. Jody has a 6L nautique on one of the best hulls ever...ha...that boat should be gone in a week.
  7. That looks like a blast! The thing i see in common is a lot smiles!
  8. A $25000 Slalom tug is easily attained. Buy a bubble but Nautique....97 to 99....and repower it with a brand new engine. Put ZO on it , and it will ski, drive and look as good as anything on the water! Jody Seal did mine, and everyone loves it! I ski behind it several times per week along with a SN200, and the wakes are better behind the 97. The wake at 22 and 28 for slower speed skiers is fantastic, and at 38, 39 , and 41....as good as anything on the market. With prices the way they are, I'm surprised more people don't have one.The next gen for Sn was also really good!
  9. hahaha...He won the World Championships! None of that other crap matters!Get in your back yard and run 45 off...doesn't matter....It's about the competition, or it's about feeling good running 41 whether in a tournament or not.
  10. Over the years, the engines/boats have become so strong and so quick to react....that I believe a slightly stretchy rope can help shortline skiers get up on the boat, and be free from it. I've tried every rope made. You'll get used to it , and then have a sweet couple of weeks, and then it's just not the same. The rope dies, turns more into cable. I think we may have done a disservice to our skiing making the boats freight trains...but obviously, there's no going back. How do you make a rope that maintains that perfect amount of stretch/recoil? Maybe start with a stiff rope with a small attachment loop that stretches...maybe put in right before 43 off. The ropes are not "wearing out"; they just don't ski the same. 3 sets on the same rope and I'm adjusted to it. After 2 months on a rope, it's nowhere near where it was on day 1.
  11. https://www.artforum.com/film/howard-hampton-on-invasion-of-the-body-snatchers-and-buckaroo-banzai-63217# FOR REALZ BRUH!
  12. When you are at those line lengths and speed that give you that "biggest curb" , be in good position before you get there, and let the ski, and your knees, and ankles come into you a bit while keeping the ski on edge. Try not to be so rigid at that wake that you get "rocked" from the wake. The wakes are just a timing cue for you. Don't think of them as hard or an obstacle. They are just part of the journey...use them.
  13. For anything towed, an observer with holding the rope wrapped on the pylon twice is the safest method, and has been used for ? maybe 50 years..... Or a trick release mechanism. Not meant for Slalom....loads can exceed 900 lbs.
  14. Sometimes i wonder why everyone that skis doesn't live in Florida....You can't drive 3 miles without running into a lake!..........hahah...that doesn't need a well and a pump to keep it full.
  15. All I know is that whoever started SafeSport is raking in the big bucks!
  16. I see a guest commentator spot opening up on TWBC..............
  17. It's not you Lefty....Everyone hated zero off when we got stuck with it years ago! You're just late to the party! But remember, after 15 years or so, we're all indifferent to it. Maybe in another 15, we'll love it.
  18. It will happen gradually enough over time that you won't notice until you compare it to a new one. I hate to say it, but buying more ropes is in your future if you want to be skiing your best when you get to a tournament (which almost always use new ropes).
  19. Yes, the switch from PP to zo made changes. With PP , you could slow the boat quite a bit and get the rebound off the 2nd wake to shoot you up on the boat easier. That's the thought behind the stretchy ropes, but they don't quite work the same way. ZO is so quick to react, and new motors are more powerful. So, the speed swing is much less. The stretchiness can help some skiers, BUT I think the main thing is trying to ski with the same % of stretchiness that you can. I know I've skied with certain ropes too long...they go from a certain amount of stretchy to nothing at all...steel cables. It's added another variable. I ski with a guy that came to ski with a new rope. He went from running deep 39 to missing 38 after 38. He got super frustrated, and about 5 days later, he mentioned his rope was new. We put my old rope back on, and he went right back to mid/deep 39. Pay attention to all your changes.
