  1. @RazorRoss3 if I read the rule correctly juniors are exempt from this rule.
  2. Are we talking fin settings or ZO? I assume fin.... Would agree with @thager wait for water to warm a little and then adjust. I believe in fin whispering he mentions that around 60 degrees is the best to adjust your ski. Your body isn't frigid or in a drusuit at that point.
  3. The biggest obstacle I see to HOA or any private site opening up to the public is the liability. You have people with a lot of money wrapped up in homes. All it would take is for one person to get hurt and file a lawsuit against the HOA or the ski club. Your $20 to $40 dollars a boat doesn't cover a lot of lawyer fees. My club leases the rights to our lake and it is very clear that only X number of members are allowed to use the lake. Club must carry a certain amount of Liability insurance, every boat must carry another 1 million in insurance. I LOVE this sport and would do almost anything to grow it. Anyone wanting to ski is more than welcome to come ski with me. Zero chance my lake would ever open to the public.

  5. OK I would like to play devil's advocate a bit here. I am a slalom only guy and I am not sure I understand the backlash against this.... If you ski open in one event can you not ski age division in other and score overall in age division? Is there anyone that is open rated in all 3 events? I understand stand the logic behind this rule when I see Nationals score like this.... Open division. Age division 1. 4650. 10220 2. 4550. 8500 3. 1950. 5640 Kinda feel bad for the people that placed 6-9 in age division. If the top three had skied open they would have gotten a medal. I don't know if it's right or wrong just trying to understand both sides.
  6. @swc5150 that idea was also brought up by @buski. I think it is a brilliant idea. I hope it doesn't go unnoticed. I envision a tournament where you join Awsa and pay your sanction fee but instead of skiing 1 round for a score you go to a separate lake and get to ski 4 passes with a "coach" who is just a veteran at tournament. Could be technique or questions regarding how tournament's work. In return the coach and driver get credit as if they had worked the real tournament. Win win for everyone. Most sites around here offer practice the Friday afternoon before tournaments. It's generally $10 for 4 passes. It is never really marketed except in the description of the tournament in the guide. The only people that know about it are already going to ski the tournament....
  7. @LeonL thanks I was clicking on 3 event and then going to officials resources and it is not an option there. It's still a little confusing to me. Why is it a chart from who knows when that the numbers are crossed out and a new number set beside it and it says at the top changes from 2014?
  8. 1. Remove regional requirement for level 8 and above. 2. Easier more clear ways of becoming an official and upgrading your rating. I have searched a fair amount on the website and still have no idea what I need to do to become a regular judge. Like wise we need to allow a regional director the power to grant ratings to individuals they deem competent without going through the requirements of the rating. I.E. a cardiologist should be allowed to be safety without needing all requirements. 3. Ability based grouping for people under level 7. I hear people say they would ski a tournament but they aren't good enough. Have two groups one is those that have never run a pass and the other those that have never run Max age division speed. Just my 2 cents thanks for reading. Travis Torley awsa#100153156
  9. I am with @Shell I follow on Instagram. Once a month maybe look at the front page.
  10. Hey he is doing better than me. He has two bikinis in the boat. @ozski very limited experience with my buddies 6.2L in his new 200 but it seems way better than his 14 with 6.0L.
  11. I guess I am the odd man out. I feel this rule will make it hard for skiers to follow who won and lost let alone any spectators. Biggest fear is a bunch of erroneous scores.
  12. @aupatking that's funny. Likely be some overlap... I was at a baseball game and when the batter came up they played their song. Thought it would be fun.
  13. Think anyone is crazy enough for a 2 day four rounds each day weekend....
  14. One of the biggest things that I feel is missing from most tournament's is an announcer. When friends show up to tournament's and I can't tell them who is skiing or the line length/speed it is very hard to explain the rest of the sport. Then from there you can expand it. I think it would be fun if every skier got to pick a song that played when it was their turn. Skier bio stuff is always fun too.
  15. On the website it lists the 15 with a 343. If you look they have another but it's a blue 14 it says it has the 409 and it's only 33k....
  16. Can I name myself? Trent F. Tom Brantley Will Asher. Stephen Nevue.
  17. @skierjp I love the new engine. First boat at elevation I don't need full throttle to get my 220 pounds out of the lake.
  18. @Jody_Seal can you tell me the distance to speed for the 200 with the H6? Buddy has one and I know it easily cavitates the prop and hauls butt. Just curious
  19. Growing up in Colorado and skiing all the tournament's you couldn't help but meet Norm and hear stories. My favorite story is about my ski partner buying a new MasterCraft from Norm. The first day they took it out on the lake and had him trick behind it. They then pulled it up on the trailer and Norm went to work with a grinder changing the hook because he didn't like the look of the wake. Can you imagine someone taking a grinder to your brand new boat. Haha
  20. One of my favorite ski just by the graphics was my 2004 HO Truth. I was 16 and the awesome skulls.... Didn't ski very well....
  21. @dbski I saw that and was like whoa they sure went up in price since I bought one and then noticed it said sample user fake ad.
  22. @lpskier it was great skiing with you too. I will see you down there for sure one way or another.
  23. @RazorRoss3 similar situation. Sister lives at SMRR. Is it worth flying to CA from CO to ski regionals? Keep in mind I only have to obtain skiing position not place....
  24. @klindy forgive me if I am beating a dead horse but I have only gone to Nationals once because regionals was 10 minutes from me and Nationals was at my sister's place. In a way I am that new blood you speak of. I dont see someone that came in 15th at regionals and qualified on the extra 3 to 5 spots spending the money to attend Nationals.
  25. @ToddL haha we agree on something! For the record I am not totally onboard with my pay and skip idea either. Other than it would be a stepping stone to losing the regional requirement all together. I would rather inch towards that than stand still and make no progress. I should have explained that above better. Your idea above reminds me of the old EP days. I think it went like this. Run X bouys get a novice rating ski state. Run X more bouys get masters rating ski regionals.run X more bouys get an EP rating and ski Nationals. Someone please correct me if I am wrong as that was before my time. Why did they go away from that? Was regionals still a requirement?
