  1. Definitely won't be at the Masters! :) I figured the timing wouldn't be far from it, but it sounds like you're in the know.
  2. Will the new boat show up at The Masters?
  3. @scotchipman said: "The slalom mode in Wakeboard Pro is just a glorified RPM mode and despite what the manual says it really does not pull at all like the slalom mode in the three event version. It is truly recreational and not made for course skiing or anyone halfway serious about slalom." Thanks for the education Scot but I am a little confused. Can you please define a person who is serious about slalom and then elaborate on a person who is "halfway serious about slalom"? The OP says he is deciding between paddle wheel and RPM mode "for open water skiing and occasional course". He also does not have a GPS or magnets nor does he express a desire for such. He says he will make "crack calibrations". Apparently he is not very familiar with slalom speed control. He has previously been skiing in paddle wheel (wakeboard) mode. I assume he is not half way serious about slalom so it might be okay for him to use the RPM/Slalom mode? I've got to get this stuff figured out. Since you're president of the Utah Water Ski Club surely you can enlighten me. Say you were presented with a situation where you could course ski but the only boat with access had wakeboard pro. Now, if I ski the course with this boat in slalom (rpm) mode does it mean that I am not halfway serious about slalom? If I turned the unit off and drove by hand would I be serious? If I pass up the opportunity to ski due to only having access to a Wakeboard Pro boat, sit at home, and wait several weeks for a ZO or SG boat, then will I be serious about slalom? I never knew being serious about slalom was so complicated.
  4. The difference between RPM mode and Slalom mode is that in Slalom mode the setpoint input value is mph. In RPM mode the setpoint input value is RPM.
  5. Again, Wakeboard Pro has a slalom mode. Here's pages from the manual
  6. You need to use slalom mode, not RPM mode.
  7. The Wakeboard version has a slalom mode too (the one I used did). The big difference is that it doesn't have the capability of magnet timing.
  8. One more thing, either RPM based pulls will be a MUCH better pull (more smooth and consistant) than the paddle wheel (wakeboard) pull.
  9. Just yesterday I used a boat with PP Wakeboard Pro. There are three modes 1 - wakeboard (paddle wheel), 2 - RPM (RPM, obviously), 3 - Slalom (RPM). You will want to use slalom mode. *First go to wakeboard mode and calibrate speed using a GPS for reference (I calibrated at 30 mph). You are doing this to make your speedometer accurate. The speedometer is always reading from the paddle wheel. *Go to slalom mode and calibrate each of the various speeds that you are skiing by referencing the speedometer on the PP gauge (speedometer is reading from the paddle wheel) and verifying with the GPS. You can calibrate by timing through the course but lets face it, if you're using wakeboard pro you probably don't care about getting it perfect. I'd just go with the GPS calibration. *Set to slalom mode and rock on! BTW, it took less than 10 minutes to calibrate in wakeboard mode and several speeds in slalom mode. Its not a big deal at all, just make sure you've got a GPS on hand.
  10. Seth is getting some serious air through the wake, landing outside the white.
  11. A fellow 15 off'r here. aswinter, you are brave. Keith, please dont ever post any of my videos :)
  12. I can speak from personal experience. 40 years old is too late.
  13. aswinter05, fess up. I saw the occupation survey, you are a CPA, you are cheap. You bought the boat because it was a good deal.....and you are color blind.
  14. @Texas6, thanks! Its not my lake, I just get to use it (which might be better!)
  15. Lake 38 and Deer Point are awesome! Here's the home lake. Southeast Alabama, 100+ acres, private. Course in the south finger
  16. He could tell us but he would have to kill us.

  18. Awesome boat, awesome lake, and good people!
  19. Texas and Shane, I appreciate your response. Regarding my 2,3, & 4 meals, which I have to pack and take to work, the first priority is portability and convenience. I know non-processed foods are better but Cliff bars and bananas are so darn easy and dont require cooling, heating, etc. Also, shopping for them is cinch. As for the chili, we make a big pot that lasts almost a week, just dip and go. If a microwave is not convenient then eat it ambient temp, no problem. I fry the egg in the morning and toss it in a small tupperware container and eat it ambient. Load everything up in a soft cooler style lunch box and rock on. For me, if its not convenient, it is not sustainable. Shane, I eat the 5 meal, meat and potatoes, as soon as I have recovered my breath from the Insanity workout. But thanks for tip. I didn't know I was doing the right thing.
  20. Someone who knows a lot more than me about health and nutrition please critique. I started Insanity 5 weeks ago at 202 lbs (40 years old 5'8", stout build). My diet, every day, consists of the following. FWIW, I don't require variety to be content. For me, the easier, more convenient, the better. * 2 pieces whole bread (140 cal), 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (200 cal) spread on bread, 1 cup frozen berries heated for 2 minutes in microwave to a hot syrup consistency & poured over bread (80 cal). total 420 cals * Cliff protein bar (270), banana (100). total 370 cals * 1.5 cups turkey based chili (275), one egg (100). Total 375 cals. * Cliff energy bar (250), banana (100). Total 350 cals. * 5 oz beef sirloin (275), 5 oz sweet potato (125). 1 bag (10 ounces, its a lot) broccoli cauliflower carrots, steamed (100) total 500 cals Thats a total of 2015 calories. I need little more to have enough fuel for insanity. I might snack on another Cliff energy bar throughout the day. I range from 2000 calories to 2300 calories daily. Drink nothing but water and one cup of coffee with the first meal. In five weeks of Insanity and this diet my cardio and core strength have increased dramatically. I have added muscle and lost 9 lbs overall, currently weighing in at 193. I am just starting the 2nd phase of insanity and expect the weight loss to accelerate. 180 is my goal. Depending on how hard it is, I might shoot for 175.
  21. I thought there was only one place to get a portable course.
  22. ...is looking good for the last several days. Heck, Jody's Deer Point is spring fed and a fairly constant temp year round. Mid day today would be not much different than what some of you Yankees have in July. I'm a recreational skier and never brave the cold, but heck, even I may try to put on a ski. But I'm not rubbing it in :)
  23. One thing I know for sure, my form isn't right :)
  24. I should add that I'm 195 lbs on a Strada. I think 28 mph is just to darn slow for my weight and ski.
