  1. @Bdecker Stx22 did get to keep his course, but with a number of restrictions, such as posting four navigation buoys on the corner of the course in order to warn fishermen about the submerged course, as well as a map posted at the launch warning boaters. I went to the public hearing and he got a surprising amount of support from the locals. A lot of people (retirees mostly) said they enjoyed sitting on their decks watching people ski. It also helped that his main detractor was an unreasonable idiot. Are you having trouble with Dubes? Or another site? Let me know, I'd be happy to write a letter. I''m sure they'd love to hear from a Vermonter :-)
  2. Arturo's place is http://www.aqasports.com/
  3. Those look like the skis made by Jason Starr in Vermont. http://www.starrsurfskis.com
  4. The third and fourth place finishers will also go head-to-head. They are calling it the National Junior Tour.
  5. I ski to have fun. I don't think I could have fun skiing in a place that I'd always have to worry so much about ...
  6. Pitch The Water Skier a story about this skier (it'll help if she's from the U.S.) and if they bite, you might be able to use their photos.
  7. I got my two young daughters up on skis this summer, but I pretty much had to cajole the daylights out of them to do it. So far, they are not that interested. But a couple weeks ago they saw a bunch of pictures of show skiers in The Water Skier and they were both completely fascinated. For a couple of six-year old girls, being able to wear pink, frilly things and do themed shows puts water skiing in a whole new light. No show teams around here, so they likely won't be able to ever show ski, but at the very least for once they thought water skiing was cool. Hopefully I'll be able to find ways to draw on that next summer.
  8. @Horton do you have "Hall of Famer" for a baller status?
  9. My entire garage becomes a walk-in beer cooler.
  10. It's important to have three events because it provides three opportunities for people to get involved in the sport. Not everyone likes slalom, but maybe tricks or jumping interests them. If they later add another event or two, even better. I think this is especially the case with kids, who seem to like tricking.
  11. Marc Bedsole in Orlando is a great kids coach, especially tricks.
  12. I'm not on the list even though I thought I had qualifying scores in two ELR tournaments (Pangaea Record and Eastern Regionals). So, I emailed Bob Corson and he checked with Dave Clark. Here is the explanation I got from Dave explaining why I'm not on the list although some of the people who skied at Eastern Regionals are: "The Eastern and South Central Regionals were both run the same way -- ie, the sanction was to "L" level, but individual events were run as class "E" rules default, with class "L" optional, by skier option. So those 26 performances that you received were just those few skiers who opted to "L" class." So, had I known that I needed to opt to class L, I would have been on the list. Since I didn't, I'm not, which is kinda a bummer.
  13. If a Mens 3 skier wants to ski 36mph, can they just sign up to ski a tournament in Open? Or do they have to reach a certain score at 34mph in order to be considered an Open skier first? Basically, how does an old guy ski at 36 if he wants to?
  14. @Chef23 Or you could ski one score equal to or above the cut off average (lowest level 8 score three weeks prior to Nationals) in an R tournament, i.e. the Pangaea record or Regionals.
  15. When I skied in college our coach required us to get a rating/become an official of some kind, but I'm sure that is probably not the case at the majority of schools. Maybe the NCWSA could waive all or portions of tournament registration fees (subsidized by AWSA/USAWS if need be) on a sliding scale related to the number of rated officials a team has? I bet this would be a great incentive for some of the teams that struggle a bit more with funding.
  16. Here in Vermont we are not sleeping on this one after getting surprised/smacked by Irene last year ...
  17. @horton nevermind. Clicked through to vote and saw that it was titled Asher. Looks like Nick.
  18. I don't really see the need for a ranking system. If you hang out here long enough, you'll get an idea of whose advice to follow or not. Plus, some guy might not post a lot, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have anything constructive to add to the discussion.
  19. I'm going to give Bedsole crap for the rest of his life if he loses to Mapple in tricks :-)
  20. Anyone else having problems watching the broadcast, or is it just me?
  21. @jayski They are available now at http://store.goode.com/nano-one/
  22. You could not pay me enough to like in Daytona. Every week there is a major event going on that just completely takes over the place.
